BAIT and SWITCH. Vouchers purchased through Groupon promised two drink tickets to be used for house cocktails, beer, wine, or soft drinks. Tour operator refused to provide our party with alcoholic beverages unless we paid extra for them. Totally deceptive advertising.

Why can't I give ZERO stars??? – This is not a "Buffet" dinner cruise, it's a floating high-school cafeteria.

You walk by the "buffet" table and servers slap food on your plate - a hunk of bread, salad dripping with WAY too much dressing, dried-up pasta and a slab of breaded chicken - excuse me, did I say "breaded chicken"? I meant to say "breading with some chicken inside".

You get two drink tickets, which are only good for "basic" beverages, like soft drinks or a can of domestic beer. Above that, you have to pay $2 - $3 MORE for "premium" fare like a Corona or Heineken or mixed drinks.

And then there's the "entertainment"... A DJ on each deck cranking out Rap tunes so loud that the tables shake. One of my guests spent most of the evening with her fingers in her ears. Don't get me wrong, I like music, I've got a 600-watt subwoofer system in my truck, but this was too much even for me and my son. And there's no escape, even up on the observation deck there are loudpseakers pumping out horrible noises with the added benefit of static crackle.

A roaming photographer takes pictures of every table, then sets up on the dock as you disembark and tries to sell you the photos - we didn't buy ours - there's NOTHING we want to remember about this 4-hour nightmare. The best part of the evening was stepping off the boat.

Worst boat time ever – I went on the cruise for my birthday. I have been on several cruise and boats in the past. This one was not impressive. The hostess was friendly and well dressed. However her assistant was not properly dressed and was clearly drunk by the end of the night.

The food was not well cooked and was not something i would give to guest at my home. Plain dry pasta, with bread roles. The staff came around with black garbage bags while you were eating to clean .

One staff member who served the food, wore her ear phones and was listening to music while she served us. None of the people serving food were friendly. The only people on the boat who were hospitably was the hostess, the main security and the bar tender The DJ seemed very distracted and not interested in entertainment. He spent most of the night on his phone texting

Over all it was a horrible experience. My highlight was just being in the company of my boyfriend. I do not recommend this cruise and if you still decide to go you will regret it

NYC Citylights Cruises No Show – We purchased tickets through a third party for $40 pp. Upon arrival at Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport, we and about 40 other guests learn that they've moved their departure location. The Seaport authority told us of numerous violations by this firm yet were unable to help us find out where the boat now leaves from. Their website was no help either and just confirmed what the email confirmation said.. to show up on/before 830 at Pier 17. So basically they got booted to another dock, Pier 23 (we found out three days later when they finally returned our calls), and forgot to tell anyone. They apologized for error and for leaving so many of us on the dock and offered to reschedule... for a fee of course. Add insult to injury. Nonetheless we got a full refund. But the aggravation, gas, parking and the dinner we had at the Seaport was an expense that we had to eat for a trip we never got to experience. The only consolation is this review to warn others to stay away from this group.

I'd rather dine at Mcdonalds. – This past mothers day I went for one hell of a trip on City Lights Cruises around the city with my boyfriend & his family to celebrate. It was one of those experiences when you have an ideal image of how it should be, & it turned out completely different. Most certainly not in a positive way. The weather didn't help with the situation, but it as bearable. We had to wait in a room that I wouldn't even call a "room" it was more like a storage closet, & everyone was packed like sardines. When it was time to get the tickets to board the ship everyone was pushing & shoving, & some how everyone in the back of the group managed to just cut everyone. The people running this portion of getting the tickets & everyone checked in were rude, screaming in peoples faces to get through, pushing & shoving the "cruise" guests. Be careful when boarding the boat especially if you have children or elders with you, the ramp leading down to the boat had gaps & was not sturdy & the ladder to get onto the ship was a plastic step stool that was not secured to the ground. After boarding the boat there was hardly any tables left, & so many people had yet to get on. When you finally have the chance to get settled in, & you're lucky if you do, there is already a line formed all the way to the back of the boat but you don't want to get up or you'll most likely lose your table because they over book their guests. Once you have found your table or the table you'll be sharing with other families & couples, you'll realize that you can barely see out of the windows because they are so dirty. They look like they haven't been cleaned in months, so at this point you arriving early to ensure you have a nice window seat, at a nice table with your family, wife, or girlfriend was nothing but worthless. I couldn't help but feel extreme pity for the families I saw that were standing because they didn't have a table & were told by the people running the ship "there's nothing we can do, you're just going to have to find someone to share with you." Like I stated earlier, they over book their guests. You receive two free drink tickets & one meal ticket. The free drink ticket is good for house wine, liquor, & sodas, for anything that isn't a house wine or liquor depending on the drink you would have to pay a fee of $2 or $4 dollars depending on the drink you request, oh, & this includes bottled water. Sitting down & trying to have a conversation with your family, or other guests was nearly impossible because the music was being played way too loud on their blown out speakers. The choice of music was horrible, & not kid friendly, they even played a song with the lyrics "baby when we're grinding I get so excited," throughout the whole boat ride they played like maybe three good songs. After receiving a migraine for just being on the boat for five minutes, you can't help but hear everyone else complaining about how cheap & what a rip off this was for such an expensive cost. They don't provide you with real cups, plates or silverware, thats right! IT'S ALL PLASTIC! The meal wasn't "dreadful" but I wouldn't say it was amazing, it consisted of a salad, two pastas, 1 pancake, 1 piece of bacon, & a piece of chicken. The dessert wasn't bad if you received the apple pie, but if you got the cheesecake it was absolutely frozen. I'd rather dine at a Mcdonalds than board this boat ever again, & I highly suggest you save your family the time, migraines, & the money. Over all there was not one single ounce of organization on this boat & not one single person left with a positive thing to say about this, the only thing I can say I enjoyed was being around my boyfriend & his family the rest of it was the biggest waste of time.

A Horrible 3 Hour Tour – My family and I were all very excited for a trip around the city on a dinner cruise for Mother's Day. We thought it was going to be a great experience. NOT!! We never complain when we go out and always try to enjoy ourselves. this is actually the very first complaint I have posted in my life about anything. Once you arrive, you cannot board immediately. You must wait in a dingy, dirty, digusting and super small room off the side of the dock. then you must wait in line for your ticket stubs, and then another line to board the boat. BE CAREFUL when walking down the ramp..unsturdy and dangerous. it is definitely a lawsuit waiting to happen. To board the boat, you must walk up a three step stool which is made of plastic, about 2 feet wide and not secured to the ground. Also careful when getting off (hopefully you won't go) since you must use the plastic steps again, and the boat sways back and forth making you calcute the time to get off the boat and not fall straight into the water. About 150 people total on the boat...there were 5 chaffing dishes of food...the food actually did not taste bad, but the presentation!! plastic plates, plastic silverware, plastic cups! At about $100 a person, they sure could invest in a couple of real dishes. Food consisted of 2 pastas, grilled chicken, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and salad. that's it for over 100 ppl!! ....oh, frozen cheesecake too. We were all so very disappointed in the presentation, the set up, the service, everything! you must pay extra for premium liquors, bottled water, martinis...these are all not included w/ your 2 drink stubs and have to pay at least $2 extra. I know $2 is not a lot of money, but in reality it'll make your drinks about $20 each. the buffet line forms around and practically on top of other tables that are occupied. People could not sit or get up from their tables because everyone was trying to get food. I am sorry to say that it was the worst dining experience of our lives and it is a real shame. Very unorganized and their advertising is completely and disgustingly false! everyone on this boat complained, not just us. The pics on their website have to be from another place or nicer boat, because the Majestic Queen or princess is definitely not on their site! Spare yourselves a bad night and go somewhere else....

Party time!! – I recently celebrated my birthday with a few friends on a city lights cruise and I had a great time! It was 3 hours, food and 2 drink tickets.

The DJ that was spinning that night was amazing to say the least! He kept the dance floor packed for almost the entire cruise. The bartenders were awesome and actually gave me a free shot when I mentioned it was my birthday.

I know there are some negative reviews but I guess to each his own. These party cruises are not for everyone. If you like to have fun, dance and have a few cocktails with your friends all while sailing on a yacht, then definitley check them out. I can't wait til it gets warmer so I can go back. Why bother going to an overpriced club???

_movies or a boat_ ? ... see you at the pier – My family and I attend at least two events a year!

I’ve been going on there cruises for about three years now. I felt really bad when my co-worker was interested and decided to check out some reviews; only to be met with pretty horrible statements. They have free food and I do open bar for like $30Bucks, super cheap for a New Yorker. The food could be better but if you go on the premium cruise; they have the most amazing roast beef and the late night cruises are little appetizers (but I don’t eat that late). My nephews and son love the "Family Cruises", it’s just fun for the kids... my son thinks it’s a night club and dances like Michael Jackson. The staff gets out on the dance floor sometimes and the kids meet the captain if you ask nicely. We once had to dock 15min early because a fireworks show that IKEA or target had going on... well anyway the captain let customers stay on the yacht to watch the display.

I say in a time where just popcorn at the movies cost 6 bucks it’s a good day out for the kids to see lady liberty.

When me and my girls want to just hang out but don’t want to go to a night club... we have a little too much fun on the late night cruises. I think you get what you pay for.

Better think again Skipper! – A friend of mine went on this cruise last week (The Majestic). She and her husband along with a few friends went as well. The experience they had made me aware of how deceptive they appear to be in their advertisments. Not only were they treated disrespectfully.... the boat itself was less than acceptable in cleanliness - such as the bathrooms were OVERFLOWED AND BACKED UP WITH FECES!! On a boat or anywhere in public or private is disgusting and for obvious reasons UNHEALTHY!!

Now onto the poor service and disrespect... the wine was served in plastic cups and a group that was behind my friends were let on the boat in preferrence only because they were part of a certain group?! - A paying customer is what it is - money does not get any greener - trust me!

I am sorry for my friends experience and only hope 1 of 2 things now happen.

1. City Lights Cruises straightens up by cleaning up their boat to sanitary conditions and will dissaprove of their current customer service practices and re-train their staff to respectfull customer service practices.

2. Someone reads this comment/review and investigates this organization before throwing in their time and money into something that will not bring them enjoyment in return.

Thank you!

The OPPOSITE of luxury, disaster at Sea!!! – The food was terrible, I wouldnt feed it to my dog! The staff was unprofessional and rude, they even let a group of people on board before us, who happen to be on line behind us, because they were part of a special group. Fingers were pointed in our faces, the facilities were worse. The bathrooms on our deck were filthy, and one was backed up with human feces and wasnt even working! When we alerted the staff, we were ignored. The desserts appeared edible until we tried to eat them, the cake tasted as though it was sprayed with cleaning fluid. The ship left dock late and cut the cruise short, but, we were happy to escape....I'd rather sit through root canal and I wouldnt subject my worst enemy on a City Lights dinner cruise, our ship was the Majestic (disgusting) Princess, and the travesty of an evening took place Sat, Oct 10, 2009....spend your hard earned money elsewhere....the bad reviews of this company are ALL over the internet, wish I'd known beforehand!
