Home of the 2002 US Open, and one of the nation's best public courses. – In Short
Designed by A.W. Tillinghast (the man behind Winged Foot and Baltusrol) in 1936, the Black Course at Bethpage was the first public golf course to host the U.S. Open. The course has long been recognized as a stiff test for any golfer, but four alternate courses, all 18-holers, welcome the less experienced. Visitors to the park can also indulge themselves with polo, biking, hiking, riding horses, tennis courts, playgrounds, cross-country skiing and sledding.
Tee Off times – Availability to tee off times for Any of the courses is done via automated phone system for New York State residents. Early tee times are impossible to get no matter what time you call or walk on.
agree – the course is in such good shape i would rahter go there than pebble beach
$$$$$$$ – With the money that was pumped into the Park to spruce it up for the US Open this may be by far the best shape the park has been in since it opened. It may very well be the best public golf facility in America right now. One should play while the playing is good.
God's Backyard – I play this course every weekend.
The fairways and greens are the best
that I have seen on Long Island.
