Check YOUR attitude at the door. – I feel sorry for the two who were compelled to write such negative reviews. Unfortunately for them, it sounds as if they are of the type who are not happy unless they have something to complain about and are outraged when they don't get what they want the instant they want it. We all know the type. For me, my experiences with Reeds have been all positive. The staff is extremely helpful, encouraging, and a pleasure to work with. My husband had bought me a beautiful lens for my camera for Christmas last year and he just told me how extremely nice everyone was and he appreciated their patience since it was very busy and they gave him all the time he needed to make a decision with no pressure whatsoever. Thank You to all at Reeds : )
Somebody finally said it. The owner is mean – The owner is mean and has a short fuse. He can explode on you if he doesnt like you. Nothing againt their store but, those guys are mean and fake nice all the time.
A True Pro Lab – First off I would like to respond in the defense Of the new owner of Reed's. A post below titles him as Rude New Owner. Well this is just not the case. Mr. Carr is a professional and has many years experience in the photo arts. I am sure the woman below was just stressed and having a bad day herself.I will have to say that Mr. Carr was just miss read.Oh and lets take a look at the date July in the Hamptons Please woman get over it. you and all the rest of the visitors need special customer service. You have to wait your turn sometimes! Maybe you were double parked who knows anyway, Reed's is a Very busy shop. They offer services that you cant find on the east end , everyone uses them. being that Mr. Carr has recently become the new owner I am sure he is slammed and maybe that day was so busy that no one had the time that that customer was really looking for. I know that when it comes to selling used equip. that you almost always have to leave your stuff to have it looked at and appraised. I know from experience that Reed's Photo holds the highest in standards in all the work they offer. If you are looking for a lab to take care of your art work and photography needs the way you would then Reed's is the place to go. Your not going to find under paid uneducated employees at the counter. Reed's is staffed with professionals who truly love the photo industry and who really know what they are talking about. This in turn can cause a problem with people who think they know it all such as the poster below. If you come in with an altitude your not going to get far. I have worked personally with Mr. Carr and he is one of the most helpful people I know. He has thought me so much and I am grateful to him for this. He has the patients of a saint and is an amazing teacher. He is a master at his art and has so much to offer to his clients. Don't be steered wrong by one bad post.
Love to The Crew at Reed's

GREAT SHOP – I HAVE BEEN USING REED'S PHOTO FOR AGES (NEW AND OLD SHOPS, EAST HAMPTON AND AMAGANSETT) AND HAVE NEVER EVER HAD A PROBLEM. THE SERVICE HAS ALWAYS BEEN EXCELLENT. THE OWNER IS A TRUE GENTLEMAN AND IS ALWAYS VERY VERY HELPFUL AND NICE AS ARE THE OTHER EMPLOYEES. THIS GUY WHO LEFT THE BAD FEEDBACK PROBABLY WENT IN THERE ACTING LIKE A POMPOUS A-HOLE WITH AN ATTITUDE TRYING TO CON THEM INTO BUYING HIS CRAPPY STOLEN CAMERAS. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS IN CAMERA STORES. THIS ISN'T A PAWN SHOP YOU FREAK, IT'S A LEGIT CAMERA STORE WITH EXCELLENT EMPLOYEE'S. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA SHOP FOR ALL YOUR NEEDS. LET THE LOSERS GO TO THE LOCAL PAWN SHOP. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK REED'S!!!!!!!! YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!!!!!
Rude New Owner – Under the original ownership of Jon Reed, I had received help with camera appraisals. I knew it was under new ownership and I was looking to appraise older cameras for clients I have. There were two men working in the front: I went up to the one who first greeted me and seemed available to speak with. I handed him my business card, before I was able to explain what I was looking for, he directed me to the owner (the second man on the floor). The owner was obviously busy, so I did not want to interrupt him and I was certain that the available sales associate could answer my questions about their appraisal services. Boy, was I wrong to do that! The owner interrupted with the most terse and rude attitude ever saying that the cameras would have to be left there, they have no time to help me right now, they are too busy. (I have no problem leaving them there by the way--they're old cameras. Not high on anybody's priority list) It was quite obvious that I had irritated the owner in some way(--and that he has no self control) The sales associate very kindly suggested that I let my clients know about the weeks wait and then get back to Reed's. I would have been willing to leave the cameras there right then, but I decided to not give my client's business or my business to them, and let my clients know why. Southampton photo shops are just fine for me. Reed's photo shop is not the friendly prestigious local shop it once was. Now its just prestigious. (Can't one get that in the city? It's probably cheaper too)
