Processed Chicken???? Shame on You!!! – Who uses processed chicken strips to make Chicken Scampi? This is OUTRAGEOUS, especially since you advertise yourself as a fine Italian restaurant and charge VERY high prices. I see, from reading the other reviews, that I am not the only one complaining about this. You apparently use it for Chicken Vodka and other chicken dishes as well. SHAME ON YOU!!!! For $12.99 I can buy my own can of processed chicken and make it for about $2.00 (or at least that is what your entree was worth. Oh....perhaps a bit more when I include the pound of butter you used)!!
I MISS THE OLD OWNERS!!! When the restaurant changed hands, the QUALITY TOOK A NOSE DIVE!!
don't stop at Mama's – We saw that your restaurant had been in business for over 3 decades so we decided to give it a try. Our host met us with a courteous introduction and was rather prompt in getting us our beverages and bread. After that things went downhill. The salad bar was rather blah with a large bowl of not very good looking lettuce the rest rather ordinary. I know what do you expect for .99 cents.Ok you win on that one.
I ordered the menu Mama’s house specialty dish chicken parmigiano, no one can really not make a good chicken parmigiano ( can they).Girl friend ordered some chicken dish with vodka sauce(chicken Flamingo) and told our server very light on the sauce.
Dishes arrived and here we go. Girlfriend’s vodka chicken dish is swimming in sauce and what she thought would be a nice chicken cutlet on top of the pasta turned out to be chicken chunks that tasted like processed chicken out of a bag. Pasta ziti overcooked and not sure it was drained properly as there was water floating at the bottom of the dish.
My chicken parm - pasta again over cooked, sauce tasted burnt, water in dish again from not proper drainage of pasta. In both cases the taste of both dishes were rather bland whic h leads me to my next question. Have you ever considered using a little fresh garlic and basil in your dishes. They sure could use it.
All in all it was very disappointing. How this restaurant has managed to stay in business this long is beyond me. I work hard for my money. That $36.00 dollars was not very well spent.
I would they would gather their troops and whomever was the cook last night give him/her a cook book on how to prepare delicious Italian food, or better yet as Chef Ramsey would say “ shut it down”. You won’t be in business very much longer serving food like this in our present economic conditions.
Great food , Value and prices – I have been going to Mamas Family Restaurant for over 15 years and know the past and current owners. I can tell you from being a frequent customer the food is great! The same staff has been there for decades. The same recipes for making there dough and sauce are still being made as it was 27 years ago. The prices are great and the portions are Italian style (HUGE) this is a winning combination in today?s economy
Still the best pizza in Clifton Park – My family and I have been going to Mamas for over 10 years, and it's nice to see that nothing has changed since we heard recently there were new owners. My husband and I got two of their featured entrees and both were outstanding. Our children got their pizza and they said it was the still the best. The portions were HUGE. Both my husband and I had to take our left overs home, we had meals for the next two days. The staff was very friendly and informative. Even though we had left overs, we treated ourselves to their new Italian pastries, which by the way were to die for. My favorite was the Napolian. My husbands favorite was the carrot cake. If you have never been to Mamas before you really should try it, you won't be disappointed.
Quality has gone down – We always liked Mama's pizza and were its loyal customers. However, lately the quality of pizza has gone down considerably. The size of pizza is reduced then what is advertised. The crust is thin and rubbery. The toppings are not put generously. I have heard that the resturant was bought by someone from the original people. The new person is not doing a good job and might drive the business down.
The Best – Great food at Mama's. Never had a dish I didnt like. Great portions, great prices. I recommend to everybody I know. I look forward to eating at Mama's once or twice a week.
Unsatisfied – Mama's Restaurant, for so many years has been a favorite in my family. My mother brother and I have never before been unsatisfied, dining in or ordering out from Mama's. Almost every Friday in my household, my mother would order a pizza and anytime she needs something such as a large pan of lasagna or whatever it may be for a get- together, they are first choice. Now I have to tell you.... their pizza is great! But last Sunday, my boyfriend and I, as we do just about once every two weeks, decided to order a six cut pizza. We were craving pizza and we figured it's fresh and pretty much always cooked to perfection for an affordable $7. My boyfriend went into Mama's and about 5 mins later he returned perturbed. I opened the box and the pizza was terrible. The crust was thin and burnt, the pizza was cold and it was nothing like we were expecting. The part that bothered me the most, was that my boyfriend politely voiced his feelings on the unsatisfaction he felt, and although the lady behind the counter apologized, when she went to offer him another pizza, the gentleman standing there with her, argued that it is always that way. My boyfriend proceeded to inform him, that we have never received a pizza of that quality from there and the gentleman continued to argue the fact. Being in the restaurant business for sometime, is the customer not always right?! What a terrible way of handling a situation with a customer. Did you know that a happy customer may tell a friend or two about your business, but an unhappy one will tell ten? All I can say is that after it changed hands shortly ago, I was very impressed with how the quality and quantity and atmosphere had remained the same. Unfortunately, after Sunday, I am an unhappy customer, with more than ten friends, and I am not sure if I will give it another chance.
MIXED FEELINGS ON THIS PLACE!!! – Very good Italian food, no doubt about it. The other items (sandwiches, etc.) are average. Their biggest problem, however, is MESSING UP TAKE OUT ORDERS. 9 out of 10 times they will get it wrong even after repeating the order to you on the phone. This is an ONGOING PROBLEM that has not been addressed on their part. We are to the point where we "bet" on what they are going to screw up. Today's turkey, ham, and roast beef club (on toasted white) came with just turkey on "untoasted" white bread. Order a chicken parm with no sauce and you will get extra sauce. Once in a while, a mistake is acceptable. When it is an ongoing problem, it gets to you after a while. They could actually take some lessons from McDonald's--I am not kidding. Bottom line, food is very good; take out service is the worst I have ever seen.
Best Pizza in The Area – My wife and I visit the area quite often. We found Mama's in a hotel room pamphlet and decided to try it out. Delivery was prompt. I've tried Pizza at several locations in the Albany/Saratoga County area and this, with no doubt was the best in the area. In fact, it is probably in the top 5 I have ever had including from Brooklyn, NY and Philadelphia PA. True pizza connoisseurs will love it.
OH MY GOD!!!!! – If you want the best pizza in the area - you've got to try Mama's!!!! We moved out of the area a few years ago, but everytime we get back, Mama's is a must. You've got to try it yourself!!!!
