Great Place – My son and I usually head to the Klamsteam on Friday nights for dinner and during the summer months we're there several times during the weekend. We keep a boat at a nearby marina. The food is almost always good depending upon who's cooking, the service is almost always great. We like the new owners as they do a great job in keeping the customers happy. If we have one complaint, it is that Gabriel is no longer working there. She was the absolute, most attentive barkeep that I've ever had the pleasure to meet and was an institutional part of this restaurant. It's just not the same without her. I am hopeful that the new owners, at some point, will realize the value that Gabriel adds to this wonderful place and rehire her.

AWESOME!! – My husband and I love this place. We don't live too far away so whenever we can get a sitter it is the Klamsteam Tavern we head for. They have some of the best clams I have ever had and the beer is always ice cold. I really love this place.

New Owners, New Beginnings – This place has grown!! There are new owners, who have made this place theri own. Fresh paint, new stools, tables, heat, AC. All right on the Mowhak River. They even have their own little marina so you can pull right up with your boat, or keep it there for the season. The food was amazing. I have never tasted pizza so good.

Great clams, great beer, great people. – The Klamsteam has been serving steamed clams and beer to generations of Albanians (?). It’s a ramshackle tavern and marina on the wooded banks of the Mohawk River, located just outside of Albany, N.Y. I have been there twice, while in Albany on business. A friend from the area suggested the Klamsteam as a respite from the bland chain restaurants on nearby Wolf Road. I felt at home as soon as I entered. There is a long bar, then manned by an engaging Australian woman, a large selection of beer from the Northeast and beyond, a jukebox, and somewhat nautically themed dining area. We sat at the bar, sipped beer, chatted with the Australian and a few other people, then ordered clams (what else? – it’s the “Klamsteam”).

I have spent more years than I care to contemplate offshore in the Alaskan fishing industry, and hence have some basis for evaluating seafood. The Klamsteam’s clams – befitting the moniker – are great. They are gently steamed with white wine, herbs and clam broth, and taste as if they were fresh off the boat (presumably not a boat from the adjacent Mohawk , as if anything lives in the Mohaw, it may not be advisable to eat it…but I digress).

The Klamsteam is an iconoclastic and classic roadhouse, and worth the short drive from Albany. The menu also lists other varieties of fish and shellfish, and it looked like a good venue for live music weekend evenings. If I lived near Albany I would be a regular.

Not a good place for seafood – The service was very slow. They were out of steamers and fried shrimp and actually the waitress had to keep coming back to let us know what they had and didnt have. The fish dinners were cooked to the point of rubber and the potatoes in the chowder weren't cooked enough. The Klamsteam is not a place to enjoy a clam steam dinner.
