Understaffed – The food is good (portions could be better, spare ribs a disappointment), but we will never dine there on another weekend or holiday- even with reservations ("don't matter," we were told while waiting a half an hour to be not only seated but acknowledged as sole woman at counter was answering two phones. There is always a crowd in front and you never know who has reservations, for what time, or who are walk-ins or simply there to pick up takeout. It is chaos and the employees in front seem on the verge of having heart attacks. The waitresses have always been incredible, but one told us that yes, they've always been understaffed and they simply refuse to hire more people to help out in front. Last time, they were so overwhelmed I got billed for the wrong table. By the end of dinner, we were exhausted, not a pleasant dining experience.

Sets the Standard – Plum Blossom sets the standard for chinese food in the area. With fresh ingredients, friendly service, and a beautiful decor, there is no comparison to the many strip-mall or delivery-based chinese food joints nearby.

My family has been going to Plum Blossom for as long as I can remember, whether for a special dinner out, or for a quick lunch stop, it has never disappointed. Both my sisters and I have requested to be brought on dates there, when given the option, over perhaps pricier or more out-of-the-way places. The food is reasonably priced, although admittedly we usually stick to the combination platters, with the usual inclusions of fried rice, wonton soup, and an eggroll with your entree. I am sorely confused at anyone saying that this restaurant is overpriced (as I have seen on some reviews) I am a struggling young adult (as we all are in this economy, right?), and I have had great take-out from Plum Blossom, dinner for two, to be had for around $20.

I love the General Tso?s Chicken, my husband loves the Sweet and Sour (I know, we?re adventurous! Lol).

For atmosphere, service, and food is place is wonderful! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area who wants chinese food.

Best place! – Ambience is the best. The owner himself has decorated the place with hand carved and lots of antiques. It is a pleasure to just be seated there. The food is great and fresh. Service is fast. Love the place. Would recommend everyone to try it even if it seems out of the way. The area around is very nice and calm. (It is not troy downtown.)

Plum Blossom showcases the freshest flowers of Chinese-inspired cooking. – The Scene
The nondescript exterior conceals a Chinese mansion inside, complete with a courtyard flanked by oversize potted trees. The patio-like dining areas, separated by ornate columns, are on either side, and the airy interior gives the impression of a soaring ceiling. The Plum Blossom has been gracefully remodeled three times since it's opening in 1981.

The Food
Chicken chow mein and egg foo young coexist with more unusual Chinese-inspired dishes like steamed chicken layered with ham and bamboo shoots, Mongolian steak flambe, and pad Thai. As owner Steven Chan points out, this menu is typical of what you would find in Hong Kong today, where more complicated dishes have joined standard favorites.

Dish to Die For
The orange, lychee, and pineapple duck in honey garlic sauce is the perfect blend of sweet and strong flavors.
