Great Store!! – I am a new mom and I had no idea what I needed. All of the car seats and strollers look the same to me! The staff was VERY knowledgeable and helpful! They walked me thorough the process, how the strollers worked and what I needed for my nursery. I am sure all of those online stores do not help you like them! I highly recommend Sid & Me to anyone!!
Friendly people! – I am an expectant mother due early April, after not receieving a baby stroller on my gift registry at my baby shower, I was told by a friend of mine about this store.
My husband and I went to the store this past weekend and came out with the stroller we were both looking for The Orbit Baby Stroller G2 !!!
The staff was sooo helpful! Sonia gave us the whole run down on how to operate the stroller! she showed us how to rotate it and recline it, and showed us other products that are compatible to the frame of the stroller such as orbit baby car seats and bassinets! I am so happy that we decided to go to the store and not buy the stroller online. It saved us the time and headache of reading through the manual and were actually taught by an actual person how to operate it!
There are a few items left to complete the look of our nursery, and I will definately go back to Sid and Me for them!!
Terrible Customer Service – Unfortunately, we picked this store to buy our first crib, dressers, glider chair, lamps, and more! After we paid a few thousand dollars on it all, we waited and waited and waited. I had my baby and still waited another 6 weeks until they finally brought our FIRST piece of furniture! It took over 3 months to get our first piece. Then when the crib arrived it was scratched in a million places and then repainted with a different shade of paint to try and cover it up! When we contacted the management they gave us a runaround and made us take pictures, etc., before finally telling us to call the manufacturer...and THEN we had to wait again for the new crib to come.....and SID & ME NEVER OFFERED US ANY TYPE OF COMPENSATION!! NOT EVEN A MATTRESS TO BORROW FOR OUR BABY TO SLEEP ON. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE!!!!!!!
I had great service from the start, 19 years ago. – I can tell you that my daughter will be 19 years old in 2 days and we bought our crib 6 months before she was born along with the bedding.
Its true, you get what you pay for. I have a grandson that just turned 2 in November and I can tell you that when I thought about the crib before buying it I wanted one that would last for years and it could be a family tradition to be used by my kids, grand kids.....
So far it has. To top that off, the bedding we purchased almost 19 years ago, "Baby Lace" it was used with my daughter and 27 months later my son and 19 years later my grandson.
Both crib and bedding still looks great!
I actually took the crib down just last night and will be storing it away for the next use and the bedding will be going to the dry cleaners to be used again. To this day I still LOVE my Baby Lace bedding.
My crib is Honey Oak with a canopy and I have been happy with my purchase all these years.
As far as customer service goes. If I hadn't received good customer service I would have never purchased such expensive items from them. Customer service means everything to me. I actually went in when my daughter was pregnant and had a good experience with the service as well.People there are very friendly, but than again I am very friendly so you get what you put out.
So, maybe the people that are complaining are really the problems not Sid's because I can tell you that I am very hard to please and they were able to, that says allot!
Back than again 19 years ago we paid $500.00 for the bedding and I believe it was around $700.00 for the crib with canopy. It was money well spent!
Never buy from this store – We were actually told that Sid and Me was a good store and so bought our Munire Crib from them ($600). The original crib came with a cracked frame and we immediately notified them. It took them over 12 weeks to get us a replacement part after numerous phone calls and hassles. The Manager, Sonya, would not offer us any compensation and our daughter had to wait to use her crib when she was 8 weeks old. The replacment part after all this time was a used piece of furntiure. I had to deal directly with the Munire Co who were gracious and helpful, yet Sid and Me is the worst baby store ever. Never, and I mean, never do business there. When I wanted to lodge a complaint to the owner, Sonya, the manager, would not provide me there number or even their name. What kind of store is this? Stay away and be happy, especially as a parent, you don't need the extra aggrevation.
Atrocious customer service – Neighborhood stores can't usually beat the big guys on selection or the internet on price. But they should be able to outshine both on service.
Not so at "Sid & Me", a Westchester institution.
After spending over $500 on a bedding/decor for our new baby's room, we didn't think the defective lampshade (part of the set) would ever cause us so much trouble. The darn thing melted -- as in the fabric cover pulled away fro the lining and the whole thing warped -- after only a few hours of use with the exact kind of lightbulb (60 watt) that the lamp base said to use.
Our attempted return got us a royal runaround. First, to the manufacturer, Brandee Danielle, who (Ms. Danielle herself, no less), told me wife that we couldn't POSSIBLY have been using the right kind of bulb, because they've never had this problem before. And then by Sid & Me -- and the manager, Sonya -- who told us that because the manufacturer wouldn't give them a refund, they wouldn't offer us anything.
It took another visit to the store (a lot of wasted time) for Sonya to finally offer to give us HALF the cost of the shade in store credit. She did see fit to tell us that the owner of the store didn't want us to get ANY credit. We spent our money and we will never set foot in there again.
If Sid & Me won't stand behind a defective $28 lampshade, we can only imagine how they'll treat customers who have a problem with an expensive stroller, a broken piece of furniture, or anything that costs them a nickel.
Without customer service, all they are is a nice display window. It's too bad, because they're close and we would have liked to shop there again....
