Excellent! The way bridal was meant to be! – I am 27 years old and getting married on May 27, 2012. Since I was a little girl, I knew that I would visit Annette's for some element of my wedding, ever since purchasing my first flower girl gown at the shop when I was 5 years old.

Jean is kind, thorough, professional-- and really knows what she is talking about. The place has been in business since before I was born-- and for good reason. Jean is a master seamstress who was classically trained in areas of the world known for their craft, and each product that I have every purchased from her shop has been exceptional quality with skilled alteration quality. The shop has an authentic feel to it, unlike the "big box" bridal shops that make you feel as though you should be leaving with a gown and loaf of bread.

I would estimate Jean to be nearly 80 years old. She is about 4'9" in height, a curved spine undoubtedly caused by decades in front of a sewing machine, a thick accent, and a slight case of "getting old"-- she forgets things, but with a gentle reminder, she remembers and laughs it off. For those of you who feel it is necessary to judge her based on the fact that she is an elderly woman who is losing her memory should be ashamed; Her quality of memory has no correlation to her quality of work and service.

When I walked in to look at bridesmaids dresses a few days ago, Jean was very friendly and cordial. When I showed her a picture of the Alfred Angelo design that I wanted, she asked me to go to the dress rack and check to see if I recognized it. I had no problem with this, as the same thing has happened at Yvonne's, Angela's, and David's: I was told to look myself, to which I gladly obliged. As an aside, perhaps this is what is really wrong with everyone else's experience: Stop acting as though everyone should cater to you just because you are "The Bride" or "The Bridesmaid". The world isn't going to stop and bow just because you have a ring on your finger.

I looked through the dresses, recognized the one I wanted immediately, and had my Maid of Honor try it on. Jean asked her bra size, she replied that she does not wear one, as she is very thin and, well, doesn't need to. After looking at the dress and my MOH, Jean came in with a 34-B strapless bra and told her to try it on. What an excellent insight!! The "wrong size bra" that others complained about showed me exactly what the dress would look like when it was fitted to my MOH's body-- and helped her fill out the top! Yes, Jean "felt her up" a bit-- but, jeez girls, get a grip-- she's a seamstress! When I was measured for my dance costumes, prom gowns AND wedding dress (at Yvonne's) I was "felt up"-- it's part of getting a proper fit.

Jean sat with us for over an hour while my MOH tried on the dress, went through color swatches and catalogues. Jean helped us pick out complimentary colors for my girls-- and even suggested that a certain pink would match better against my ivory dress. She was amazing, and very helpful.

I have made a few follow-up appointments since. Although Jean does not necessarily remember me by face, she remembers exactly who I am as soon as I give her a reminder of the dress and wedding location. After all, she is around 80 years old-- you would do the same for your mother or grandmother, or an elderly friend.

be forgiving and patient...and you'll get great service – I was recently married and had purchased my designer dress at Annette's Bridal. The owner, Jean, a professional seamstress in the trade for over 30 years, did a meticulous and beautiful job on the fittings and alterations.

However, I do caution you: Jean seems to have advancing dementia and requires frequent reminders; she repeats herself frequently and would often forget what I had said moments before. She was also exacting and stubborn (would not give me a swatch of the dress as I had requested). I had heard from her staff that she was tempermental and read the poor reviews of her shop after purchasing my dress, so I was really very nervous about doing business with her, afraid that something would go wrong.

Ultimately, with patience and firmness, I got exactly what I wanted from Jean. Her staff, especially Bernadette, are absolutely wonderful and skilled in their own right. My dress was perfect (although after some hard dancing my bustle ripped, but that's my fault!)

This shop is a relic of a bygone era, and she clearly is skilled, and I imagine that they won't be in business much longer due to her cognitive problems. I would say, though, give her a chance, take a look at her dresses....you may find THE ONE there, as I did.

This place is a fraud - DO NOT GO THERE! – I purchased a bridesmaid dress from Annette (aka Jean the old senile woman that works there) that she ordered at least 4 sizes too large. All of the other bridesmaid dresses that were ordered were also at least 2 to 4 sizes too large. Jean's response to the dress being a tent on everyone is "we do alterations for an additional charge" - HOW CONVENIENT!! You mean you order all of your dresses too large on purpose and then force your customers to pay you more for alterations??? What a racket this lady has going, I am reporting Annette's bridal to the attorney general. The worst part is she obviously has some form of dementia, so arguing with her gets you no where... she'd forget her head if it wasn't attached.

Jean is a professional seamstress – Jean has been great to us over the years, buying at least 3 dresses including our daughters prom and wedding dresses.

The same kind of things in these reviews happened to us when we show up for an appointment. When you come for a scheduled appointment, Jean tells you you don't have one. When we brought the wedding dress in for final altercations, she even questioned us whether or not we bought it there.

Recently, my wife was trying on dresses and dropped her ring of keys which included every key she had.

When my wife called, Jean had found them and described them right down to the Rite-Aid wellness card. Jean said she'd put them aside and next time we're there we could pick them up. When I stopped last week, she didn't know what I was talking about. She was cordial however and looked in every "nook and cranny" as she calls it. Poor Jean. I've called about 5 or 6 times since.

We love Jean but her son Bob needs to have some new people Jean can work with. I believe they are losing business also. While we were there people were getting upset and leaving. My wife is worried now whether she is going to get her MOG dress on time for our son's wedding.

If you do go you have to be assertive and make Jean leave herself notes. or write one so she won't forget. It wasn't till after the second call that she even remembered I was John looking for my wife's keys. This last time she told me she has my # and if they turn up, they would call, If she remembers where she left my #....I'm making up new keys for my honey!!!

BOB? He's never there...

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I left crying one Saturday while shopping for brides maid dresses for my sister's wedding. I made an appointment and specified the designers we were considering, but when I arrived nothing was ready and no one helped me. I was told to go in back & start looking through the warehouse of dresses on my own.

After I picked a few out & went to a dressing room - a glorified closet with no space - I was in my bra and underwear when the owner opened the curtain and said to someone else "I'll just put these in here" while putting dresses in my dressing room. She didn't even say "excuse me" or knock before embarrassing me. Then she again opened the curtain without knocking or saying "excuse me" and told me I needed to hurry up because they were very busy. I had been in the room for 10 minutes at the most - struggling with dresses by myself. Then she accused me of not making an appointment - I corrected her - but she told me again to hurry up.

Finally, she insisted that I not write down the item numbers of the dresses because "the product id numbers on the tags are different from the numbers on the website" - a flat out lie.

I left crying - I have never been so angry and hurt.

Conflicted – Annettes Bridal is where I did all my specialty dresses. Sweet 16, Jr Prom, Sr Prom, Miitary ball and wedding. Yes I kept going back. Not bc of the prices and NOT because of the service. Beause I loved each dress I ended up with!

Jean aka Annette is a rude, know it all, Greek woman who likes to tell you what it is you do and dont want! Dont think you will go in and look and shop for dresses. 5 different occasions never once looked through the stock myslef. Make a appointment, sit and wait 20 min before its "your turn" While working with you, she also is working with anyone and everyone else leaving you standing there as she is the one and only. She not only argues with customers but with her 1 or 2 staff memebers she has (who always make comments on how unbarale she is to work with and be around) Jean likes to make comments on your size (larger girls) in her way of "joking" you dont see prices of dresses oh and the best!.... You tell her your bra size, she argues with you then "feels you up" until she finially agrees with you! Does not like when you come back in with mom or a friend "just to show them the dress or to try it on again" She wants a sale within the first 2-3 dresses, after that if no sale she has no use for you. You tell her what you like and she says "oh no you dont want that" and brings the exact opposite out. She will not remember you, your name nothing. Even if you went in every day for a week straight. No clue who you are, what she promised or anything! My last time there, my wedding, she "trimmed" the bottom of my dress right there with sissors while it was on me. No measuring tape, no pins nothing. She cut the hem line crooked!!!! One part was shorter than the other and no way to fix it bc the "short" was too short! Mind you this was a $2500 dress and was 3 weeks before my wedding! I think the older Jean gets the worse she gets. Memory is fading as is her skills, and she has a hard time keeping up with the chaning in times. Overall I have always been happy with my finial dress but the service is horrible and you MUST know how to deal with her, put her in your place, speak up, do not take no for an answer and above all have patients. This store is NOT for the soft spoken, light hearted, push over kinda person. Be strong willed let Jeane know "shes met her match" and in the end you will get what you wanted.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE – HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!

My sister was in tears picking up her wedding dress because they ordered it two sizes to big. Annette was rude and uncaring... offering absolutley no options. I called a few days later to see if anything could be done and all she did was yell at me on the phone and accused my sister of being the problem. And then she hung up on me. I would never reccommend trusting Annette with the most special day of your life.

Great! – I went to Annette's with my bridesmaids to pick out bridesmaids gowns. I had no interest in seeing bridal gowns even though my wedding is only 5 months away and I still don't have one. While my girls where trying on gowns I kept admiring the bridal gown on the mannequin in the window. I finally asked about it and even though I didn't have a bridal appointment, they were very accommodating and discounted me on the gown in the window being it was discontinued and they were very attentive to me trying it on. Although the dresses for the bridesmaids were more than we had bargained for, they were conscious of that fact and very helpful and after month of searching, I found my perfect dress. We will be going back there to look at more bridal party dresses. It's a cozy little comfortable atmosphere that I found very accommodating.

Don't believe the bad reviews! – Don't believe any of the bad things people have to say about Annette's. I recently went wedding dress shopping with my mother. Annette's was the first place we went. Without an appointment, they welcomed us with open arms to look freely through all of the stock. The owner gave us 1-on-1 service for three hours while I tried on many dresses. After hearing what I liked and disliked about each dress, the owner then hand picked the dress of my dreams from her stock. It's the most amazing dress and I know I wouldn't have gotten this type of service anywhere else. The owner then worked with me so that I was able to purchase my dream dress and stay within my budget. I can't wait to go back for my fitting and I am less stressed knowing that I will not have to store my dress at home. I will be going back in a few weeks to pick out dresses for my bridal party! I strongly suggest making Annette Bridals the first stop on your dress shopping adventure!!

not "allowed" to try on dress – I went to Annette's to shop for a wedding dress. they were rude and anything but helpful. when i asked to try on a dress i was told that i couldnt try it on because my wedding was "two years away" even though it is only a year away and that i would "change my mind when new dresses came in". then i was told that i should be ordering my dress 4 months before my wedding!!!

very unprofessional and inexperienced.
