Reviews for Delaney Barbecue: BrisketTown

As the old adage goes, where there's smoke, there's barbecue. Follow it to BrisketTown. The hottest ticket in town last year, Daniel Delaney’s BrisketLab, has morphed into the hottest barbecue joint around. Juicy, tender brisket coated with a thick layer of charred rub and perfect down-home sides remind you of everything right with Texas. If you were one of the lucky ones to get brisket credits, you can reserve your pounds to be picked up from 6 to 6:30pm, before the hoi polloi are allowed in. Or simply show up for breakfast or lunch to indulge in breakfast tacos.

Most every barbecue-lover in New York knows the deal with Delaney by now -- hogmaster Daniel Delaney trained under famous Aaron Franklin of Franklin Barbecue in Austin. The brisket is amazing. What's even better is eating it for breakfast too -- as part of a breakfast taco, a popular Austin breakfast that is exactly what it sounds like -- egg and brisket in a taco. The brussels sprouts taco is also mouthwatering, with a great roasted flavor and the creamy scrambled egg making a great combination.

Food blogger Daniel Delaney has created a cult following for his Brooklyn BBQ, and the art direction and spirit really is all that. But the brisket isn't yet worthy of its Texas models, I'm sorry to say.
