Reviews for The Glunz Tavern

Rarely does a restaurant have a backstory as cool as The Glunz Tavern. The tavern opened in 1888, shuttered during prohibition and just sat there, used as a storage room. That is, until the Tavern gloriously re-opened with the original fixtures cleaned up and beautifully restored. This restaurant isn't themed to look like an old-fashioned German tavern; it is an old fashioned German tavern. In addition to an extensive beer list, they have a whole menu of French/German/Alsatian specialities including spaetzle, wiener schnitzel and coq au riesling. So grab a stein, order some escargot and bask in the warm glow of history - and your beer buzz.

Old Town sorely lacked cool watering holes, that is until Glunz opened their Germanic/French restaurant next to the famed liquor store. Loved the deviled eggs, sweetbreads and escargot and most of all, the weiner schnitzel (add the egg)!

I love history, and this place has all of the original fixtures from 1888! Plus beer, german food and some killer whiskeys.

Amazing escargot and sweetbreads - together! Perfect for a cozy weeknight, Friday cocktails or nightcap. Wine list is varied and changes often. Plenty of bourbon and great sazeracs too. Ask for Christopher!
