This cozy eatery brings chef Eric Bechard's farm-to-table wine country savvy back to the heart of urban PDX with nose-to-tail wild game (think pickled elk tongue and deer heart tartare), foraged produce, and in-house preservation.
Cozy & charming this quaint 20 seat – Cozy & charming this quaint 26 seat restaurant oozes romance. An adventurous menu of small plates laden with local game and foraged veggies makes for a fun evening of tasting. The service, excellent and very willing to explain the items listed on the menu.
Best new restaurant to open in Portland since Ox. My girlfriend and I went here last night & got
- amazing recommendations from our server
- excellent, attentive service
- one of the most memorable meals we've ever had.
Roosevelt is essentially a heartier, wintrier version of Thistle (our favorite restaurant, in McMinnville).
- pickled elk tongue
- quail with alliums
- acorn dumplings
- hunter's stew
The clear winner was the hunter's stew, with the BEST meatballs (elk) and best rabbit I've EVER eaten.
Overall, as long as you've looked at the menu before you come here, you will not be disappointed. The dishes are definitely not your usual fare, but prepared SO amazingly.
