A review for 2010 – My first impression of this place was horrid. I never imagined coming in here and eating, but after a relative bought something from here I gave it a shot.

The food is kinda good and it's quick and cheap. The cons outweigh the pros, though. It's quite dirty inside and after looking at the workers there its gross. I'm sticking with my first impressions again. If you're thinking about coming here. don't. I think the original person who was running it stopped caring about the joint. This place isn't fitting and not even clean enough to be a visited place for eating.

Clean it up and success will follow – Genuine Fabulous Tex Mex Food.....But clean up the place please. It ruins my appetite to have to step up to a dirty grimy looking counter and watch my food prepared on old yellowed grimy looking tables. Even the staff looks a tad behind on personal hygiene. If you could clean it up ,paint ,update and take some pride in appearance this place would be my favorite fast food restaraunt in WNY. You could even raise the price and I would still come. Really take my advice ...get a small business loan if you have to...You could easily grow this restaraunt as you have a unique niche and no one else compares....

Hands down the WORST Mexican food... EVER. – I have absolutely no idea how this hole-in-the-wall has been getting good reviews on Citysearch. Lone Star is unquestionably the worst Tex-Mex place I have ever been to. EVER. The interior is long overdue for a good cleaning (calling all health inspectors) and the food simply atrocious - I shudder to think how old the "fresh" vegetables in my tacos were. Not to mention I waited TWENTY-FIVE minutes for three tacos. Yikes.

Umm Good!! – I must say for cheap eats this is the place! The pico& guac is awesome! I like to get chicken fajitas and chips, all very tasty. Fast and friendly service. I like the patio furniture, gives it a relaxing feel. Great place!! Its kinda hidden so be on the look out!

This hole-in-the-wall Tex-Mex restaurant makes up for its lack of atmosphere with economical good eats. – The Scene
Lone Star serves some of western New York's best Tex-Mex. Given its close proximity to U.B., the place is usually packed with hungry coeds in search of cheap, spicy food resulting in the occasional heartburn.

The Food
The signature steak or chicken fajitas are a sizzling amalgam of seasoned meat, sauteed onions and Lone Star's legendary guacamole. The tostada grande is a beautiful, open-faced mess with beans, taco meat, sour cream, lettuce and cheese. Or try the guaco taco, a blend of rich, creamy guacamole, lettuce, sprouts, cheese and tomatoes wrapped in a warm flour tortilla. This veggie delight is a winner--order two or three for a cheap, but satisfying meal. Lone Star also offers a variety of burgers and hot dogs, including the death dog (a fiery little number) and salads.

Good & Cheap – Lone Star is good for cheap, good food. The ingredients are definitely fresh and the service is super quick. Inside is a really laid back atmosphere, you almost want to kick your feet up and just chill. Like others have said the guacamole is delicious and the pico de gallo is good too. Recommended for food on the go and it's a whole lot healthier than BK or Mickey D's. Blink and you will miss it though, so make you sure you are paying attention.

Cheapest eats in town! – Great food, 1990's prices. A unique buffalo hangout that's fun every time.

The Lone Star Fajita Grill – Doesn't have to apologize for not being in Texas. While traveling in the US we always manage to spend most of our eating dollars in Mexican restaurants. Since we have family in San Antonio, we're always happy to visit them because of the vast amount of authentic Mexican food available.

Finding the Lone Star Fajita Grill was truly a pleasant surprise, as we didn't expect good, authentic Tex-Mex food. The menu is limited, but what they do serve is excellent.

You've GOT to try this place! – I was born in San Antonio and grew up in Dallas, Texas. When my husband and I moved here to Buffalo, New York I became very homesick. I missed my family, my friends, and most of all...the food! Plenty of pizza, subs, and wings here but no Mexican! He surprised me by bringing me to this warm, friendly, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. You've GOT to try the fajita quesadillas, a steak fajita (add cheese and sour cream...cheap and well worth it), and don't forget to top it off with the fresh pico de gallo (that chopped onion, tomatoes, and green pepper mixture for you New Yorkers!). Always full stocked with the latest issue of Artvoice and the warm, friendly Western New York service adds to the restaurant's most outstanding asset - the food. Easily my favorite restaurant. Grab it to-go or sit and relax a while in the extremely laid-back environment.
