Horrible Experience - Will Never Return – I never post reviews, but I feel compelled to in order to save someone trouble in the future. I ordered my wedding gown from Bridal Chateau in January - 7 months before my wedding. I ordered the gown in the color of the floor sample, which looked white, but the tag said it was ivory. I questioned the lady and she assured me it was ivory, and because she was supposed to be the expert, I took her word for it. About two months later, when picking out tuxedos for the groomsmen, I was deciding between ivory and white shirts. I knew the white shirt was closer to the color of my dress, but everyone was telling me to go with ivory if that was the color of my dress. I not only called and spoke to someone who assured me that the floor sample was in fact ivory, but I also went in, spoke to someone else, and held up a white shirt to the dress, which matched. Again, I was ASSURED the dress was ivory. When picking up my dress at the end of May - 5 weeks before my wedding, immediately I knew it was the wrong color. Bridal Chateau incorrectly marked their tag, which was my suspicion all along. The owner made some phone calls and was able to get a "new" dress in within 2 weeks (our last resort option, we were told, was to get the floor sample cleaned and I could have that as my dress - - who would want that?!) We were assured it would be new, not a floor sample, etc. Luckily, the dress came and it was the correct color. During my second (and last) fitting, two days before the wedding, my seamstress, who is extremely reputable in Buffalo, mentioned that the seams had been taken in and out in certain places prior to her touching the dress. My dress was USED. I thougt it was weird that it took 5 whole months to get the original dress in, and only 2 weeks to get the replacement. It all made sense to me at that moment. My sister immeiately called while we were still at the seamstress' since I was too upset. Bridal Chateau denied giving me a used dress, sent us a receipt showing where the dress came from, but nothing proving that it was new. I am glad I have so many friends about to get married so that I can warn them to stay away!! They are LIARS and SCAM ARTISTS. I was hoping their bad reputation was limited to alterations, but I was wrong. I wish I had followed my gut and listened to what all of these horrible reviews said before I bought anything from them.
Terrible Experience – I found the perfect Mother of the Bride dress for my style at the Bridal Chateau in Williamsville. I emailed them a couple of times before I went there and they were very nice and helpful.
My first time there, they had the dress I wanted so they had me try it on in a super huge size. The dress was extremely loose and slopy looking. I do not like anything tight or fitted, but this was the extreme opposite. They said that dress fit perfect and why don't I take that one. I saw it had missing beads and quite a few strings hanging from it, so I said I would rather order it, which they did. It took over 4 months to come in. I went up to pick up the dress as I was having my friend who was a former Bridal Shop owner in my town do any alterations, so I did not try the dress on. When I got home and tried it on, I was absolutely mortified! I could get it zipped, but I did not dare sit down with the dress on for fear I would break the zipper. I just remember how loose it was the day I tried on that same size in the store. How could this be the same size? I was really panicing as there was not much time left until my daughter's wedding. I called the store and they were very nice and told me to bring the dress up and they did have two other dresses in the same size as mine and the same color. Wow! I felt very lucky, so I left work early and drove up to Williamsville to try on one of the other dresses. First, they apparently did not believe me that mine was too tight, so I had to try it back on for them. Yes, they did agree I could not wear it like that. So I next tried one of the other ones they had "in stock". This dress fit much better. I said I would take that one. When I got home and took it to my friend for a "minor" alteration, six hours and several days later, she had my dress done. She basically had to "restring" a huge part of my dress as well as tie off many, many, many loose strings. My friend ran her business the way a business should be run. She said she would have never let that dress go out of her shop the way it looked. She did say she would have offered a discounted price if the person insisted on taking it that way. I was never offered any type of reduction on my dress. I feel bad because I did not even realize it was that bad looking. I was just thrilled that they had a dress that close to my daughter's wedding that fit comfortably.
I did learn something from this experience and that is to check over anything and everything you buy from this store very carefully. I would recommed the store in the future, but very cautiously. Beware! Yes, they already did have my payment in full, so what did they have to lose by selling me this dress of such poor quality? They told me the dresses are "mass" produced, so this means the dress on the top of the pile compared to the dress on the bottom are completely different sizes! This is crazy. Why do they bother with measurements?
Bridal Chateau of Horrors! – Looking for a wedding dress in Williamsville? Stay away from Bridal Chateau on Wehrle Drive. These people don't seem to care about satisfied customers once they get your credit card number. They promise they can make a dress fit, but before they start they make you pay. And when the dress doesn't fit - well that's too bad - they already have your money. They are expensive, and they don't do what they promise to do. Try somewhere else instead.
Do Not Purchase Gown Here! – This place does have a wonderful selection. However when you are greeted by a person they have to direct you to someone else in order to sell you a bridal gown. It seems that they do not trust their staff. The staff on the floor was great it was when you deal with everyone else that you get screwed over. They also do not seem to have enough people on the sales floor! I would recommend going somewhere else!
Would never get a dress here – I was annoyed with this place because it took ages for our dresses to come in (bridal party) and then the employees were really rude. My sister, who is a size 2, was told she was a bit too chunky for the size dress she wanted. Seriously? And the dress, at time of picking it up, was too big. Same happened to me. They measured me and when I insisted I wanted to try on a dress of that size it was far too big. Again, though, just be assertive and you'll have less of a problem.
I also didn't appreciate the "24 hours notice to pick up the dress you already paid for and if you no show you have to pay a restocking fee." What? Wow.
Do not get alterations done here! – I agree with previous reviews in that the sales women at the Bridal Chateau are very sweet and patient until you buy the dress. I came 3 times to try on dresses and they were very nice. My dress took about 5 months to come in and so did the veil, which is expected of course. However nobody called to let me know that they were in - I had to check in myself. At my first fitting everything went well. However the alterations they then did were awful! The hem was cut 1 inch shorter than what we had talked about and the sheer overlay on the dress was sewn crookedly. The seamstress I worked with, Debbie (the owner's daughter), confronted me and actually said "are you purposely trying to find a problem with my work?" Now let me say, I'm a very easy-going bride, but after spending $750 on the dress and $200 on alterations, I would like it to at least be symmetrical and look good! After arguing with me, she agreed to make the necessary alterations. Then the staff tried to schedule another trial for me TWO DAYS before the wedding....I said "no way, it has to be at least 2 weeks beforehand." So I came 2.5 weeks before the wedding to find the hem fixed (they added material to the bottom), however now I saw the bustle and it was atrocious! It was asymmetrical, with some parts too short, and others dragging on the ground. Again Debbie didn't see a problem with her work and stated that she has 30 years of experience (I feel bad for the rest of the brides she's done this to over the years!). She did agree to re-position the buttons for me in a way that looked better, and I am somewhat ok with how it looks now. But I am so disappointed with their workmanship, especially for the amount of $$ they charge! If you do buy from them, please be careful.
nice & accomodating – Our bridal party went here because Mary Lee's Bridal took our money and never ordered the dresses. Bridal Chateau was able to order the same dresses and have them rushed in time for the wedding. I probably dealt with 3 or 4 different people there between measurements, ordering and alterations and everyone was so nice about the ordeal we just went thru. I would recommend Bridal Chateau to anyone looking for dresses - there selection is far more thorough than what you would find at David's, etc.
*WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!!* – -best customer service i found anywhere in the buffalo area. they really make you feel special and are patient with you. HUGE selection of dresses including the latest styles you won't find anywhere else. I would HIGHLY recommend this bridal shop!!
Horrible place to shop for a dress!! – This is definitely not the place to shop for any kind of a dress. Complete satisfaction is what you should be looking for when spending lots of dollars. I get better respect at Walmart! Unfortunately most people never read reviews until it is too late. Bridal Chateau should have another fire and not open their doors ever again. I bet it was a disgruntled customer that set the fire. Can't blame her!
What a way to ruin what should be a wonderful experience. Help remove these monsters from business by not shopping there. I love my dress but could have purchsed it elsewhere. I plan to tell everyone at the wedding that this is not the place to shop for your wedding.
Terrible- Stay away- don't be fooled by the smiles on your first visit. – The service was great until we purchased the dress and the staff did a complete 180. I would never recommend this place to a friend or even an enemy. This experience should have been a great one, instead I am left wishing I read all the negative reviews before I went shopping and bought my dress at bridal chateau.
