Need more information? Read on.

This company is complete and utter horse sh**. They lie strait to your face about the type of work they do and keep on lying when you start working there.

You will see job listings all over the internet stating they are looking for third party collections agents or people with collections experience. The contact will be Melissa Greanfield with either her phone number 813-249-2439 or her email. She will bring you in for a interview, tell you she needs to interview other people, call you a few days later offering you the position, then call you back and tell you there is a problem with the scheduling of the training class and offer you a lesser position. In this job market who wouldn’t accept the other one? I made my intentions very clear and told her I would only accept the job if I would be moved over to third party when a position opens up. She agreed.

Three months later and four new hires in third party and I am still working in that low rent first party. I would ask her on a weekly basis when they would be hiring for third party and she would lie right to my face "oh were not bring in anyone in third party any time soon.."

Really?

They list the job as collections. But it’s as far from collections as you can get. I don't know about anyone else, but I have never worked for a collection agency or bank that had a QA list with 18 things on it that had to be verified on every call (even if you talk to debtor again the same day), makes a TL plug into every call, had the supervisor monitoring the call, and has a QA guy in the back scoring the call. You? Thought not. Sounds like customer service.. And low and behold you log into your system and look at your job title and it reads "Customer Service agent."

God help you if you do not hit everything on the QA sheet. And God help you if you deviate from the unwritten script. And dont even think about getting creative. Skip Tracing? HA! They would rather have you call a number that never picks up then look for another one. With practices like that no wonder M&I has posted a loss for the last two (going on three) years.

And FDCPA violations.. You will be doing at least one a day due to incompetence. Either incompetence in management or other coworkers. Management will have you call the same accounts 20 times a day while your coworkers will leave a message but not notate it on every account. Along with that they will change their company policies and tell you about a week later.

Look, this is not a rant. This is to give you a heads up on what you will be in for if you accept a job at this company. I know the job market is tough right now but if you are wanting a job in collections, this is not the place for you.

The hire the lowest of the low. – I will share what kind of people they hire at this place. My fiances ex-wife comes across a file of mine for some 5 year old hospital bill. Instead of trying to contact me, "to send bad karma my way" she immediately sends it to legal. Then automatically texts my fiance what she has done, gloating. She divulged my private information to a third party! We contacted her supervisor and she was written up but I believe I could do a lot more damage to that company than that. I;m sure it violates some Hipaa law.

EVEN FOR A COLLECTION AGENCY THEY ARE TERRIBLE – If it comes to a point in your life that a collection agency becomes a part of your life pray it is not this company. They are very underhanded and unprofessional. I had to give them a rating so I could post this message. I would not rate them 1/8 of a star. If they call you, do not bother to return their call. Whatever you do, don't even give them the time of day. I told them that sister recently passed and they called me a liar. They wanted to know why I was so upset and crying. I was upset because the way they were talking to me. One man I talked to me told me I was stupid. The only stupid thing I ever done is respond to their call. I told them I was a disabled veteran on a fixed income. I agreed to payments. They wanted my account info so they could take $300.00 a month. They became more angry when I would not give them my checking account information. Take my word do not deal with these people. The government should close their doors.

Arthur Dent is the best he got me back into School! Thank you Mr. Dent. – I recently wanted to go back to school. I contact the College and they informed me I had an outstanding bill and I could not register until I cleared up this account balance. I had no idea what the bill was from. They gave me the number to Mercantile. I didn?t know what to do. I have heard nothing but horror stories about collection agencies. I did not want to call them. My husband told me to just let him deal with it. But I was like no I?m an adult I can do this. When I called I got Arthur Dent and to my surprise he was the nicest man I have ever talked with. Not only did he help me to figure out how I was going to pay off my debt he actually assisted me in getting my school debt decreased. He told me that the bill came from an outstanding tuition. I informed him that I withdrawn from the class. He then did a three way call to the school and helped me to get all the forms I needed to save myself over $500.00 of B.S. charges for a class I never even took. Thank you Arthur.

Just a collection agency – If people actually paid their bills then places like this wouldn't exist!! Collections is a billion dollar industry fueled by delinquents!! Bottom line..........if you have bills....pay them!! If I had a debt I'd rather have it at a small agency like Mercantile rather than a large agency that could really screw me!!

Mercantile = JUNK DEBT COLLECTOR – Mercantile Adjustment Bureau (M.A.B) is a Junk debt collector, regardless of what they tell you! They are listed all over the net as a Junk Debt Collector on the national listing of Junk Debt Collectors. Mercantile likes to purchase old debts for other collection agency's who were unsuccessful in their efforts to collect . They also re age old accounts for the sole purpose in tarnishing your credit. They refuse to comply with the rules set forth under the FDCPA, Any communication you send to them, send via certified mail, return receipt. They also lie about written letters received. They will claim you never sent them anything. Their employees in Rochester NY, and in Williamsville (Buffalo) pretty much are reject car sales people who thrive on being rude trying to play to their clients.. Mercantile ranks among the lowest of the lowest of Up State area business's.

UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT AND THREATS SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE – my family and i have never been so insulted.. yes, we are having financial hardships,(losing jobs, medical, highcost of surviving) and the scare tactics these unorthodox monsters do to us. This question..what would happen if they lost their jobs, lost all medical, losing their homes.. would it mean they would become more human? Let their tactics be answered with the FTC. We are humans doing the best we can under the extreme circumstances to survive. I'm not going to let these kind of monsters destroy my health and family with their UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT AND THREATS! They have broken many laws! Banks should think twice in allowing these fools to tarnish their financial reputations and the original creditor should be held liable for the damages done by them, for them.

what these people do has GOT to be illegal!!! – Some lunatic who had forgotten to take his meds called my 79 year old mother 4 times within a 24-hour period. My mother sd that she had never had an acct with the company that the caller (Bryan Evans) was insisting that she had. He was hysterical, leaving insulting messages on her voicemail, and insulting her over the phone. Bryan gave her the spelling of the name of person that he was trying to reach, and it did not match my mother's (though it was similar).

My mother told him not to call her anymore. 'Bryan' continued to call (I do believe that is illegal).

I decided that I would call for my mother. 'Bryan' then went on to call insult me. He hung up on me twice-

I called back and spoke to another person who sd that 'Bryan' had erased the phone number from their system. I told him how disgusting 'Bryan' had been to both my mother and to me, and this person sd that he was surprised bc 'that guy is a supervisor'. Just beware if this company happens to get ahold of your phone number!!!!!!!!

Ranks 161 in the 200 worst collection company's, in America – Mercantile is a junk debt purchaser. The pay pennies on the dollar for garbage debts. They use credit scoring to see who is most likely to pay, then they will harass you. They re-age old debts, even debts that are outside the statue of limitation and try to collect on them. Mercantile is known for using the date of their purchase of its garbage debts as the date of the original debt, which is highly illegal. If you receive something from them, always dispute the claim and ask them to - VALIDATE - , not verify the debt. Don't try and deal with them, just turn it over to your attorney. Once he/she is in the picture, they will drop you like a hot potato, your attorney can and will make then correct any and all misleading and wrong information they reported to the credit bureaus., which is what they will do... its their chosen method... trash your credit first, ask questions later... OH.. NEVER EVER make any payment arrangements with them, if you do that will start the statue of limitations all over again! Frankly, these type of collections company's should not be allowed to do business...

Horrible people to deal with; you're already having problems and have to deal with these jerks – I started getting messages on my answering machine a little over a week ago from these people looking for my brother, who has never lived here, hasn't lived at home for 20 some years. I called them back and explained who I was and they had the wrong number. After a short conversation with my husband, my husband ended up hanging up on them because he was rude. He called back, I answered, he proceeded to tell me my husband was a piece of dog poop. There was a silence on the other end as I was asking if he really just swore at me on the phone. Someone else came on the phone, however I thought it was the same person as they all have the same NY accent. I proceeded to tell him I didn't appreciate his swearing at me and he asked me if I was stupid or just ignorant? that he was a different person than the one who was swearing at me, that he had taken the phone from him because he was irate. I gave him the information he was looking for as to how to get ahold of the person they were looking for, however, I am still getting messages only NOW it's for other people that I've never heard of and someone they've gotten my name and phone number mixed up in other people's files. They are impossible to deal with and have no couth whatsoever. I will be looking into harassment charges if the phone calls don't stop. I feel bad for the people who are already having problems, financially or otherwise, then have to deal with these buttholes.
