Editorial Review for Pace – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
In this subterranean refuge, a luxurious tapestry-bedecked room buzzes with contented folks enjoying healthy, inventive Italian fare. Glittering starlets and industry hot shots lounge beneath folk-art paintings and hanging lamps that emit a subdued light to ensure everyone looks gorgeous. Salads and soups rotate, reflecting seasonal specialties, but Pace's mythical California-style pizzas are the real draw; its sourdough crust narrowing to a razor thinness, studded with eclectic ingredients.

Unbelievably overpriced. The food is simply not tasty enough for an average of 30 bucks an entree. My fish was undercooked and just plain not delicious, and presentation was more generic than special. For that price the food really needs to be excellent. Nothing about this place makes up for it either. The crayons at the table, and nice lighting were the only positives. That said if you enjoy dining to abrasive out-dated club music, being surrounded by overly spray tanned L.A. botox types and feeling important because your porsche is parked in front, then this might be a place to try.
Pros: lighting, wait staff, crayons
Cons: overpriced, food

Any discussion of the food is halted due to the level of jerkiness displayed by the General Manager. I think his name is Scott but I'm not sure. First of all, I asked Jerky McJerkison about alternative parking situations since I had some time to wait for my late parents and didn't think of bringing cash for parking in the first place. He first said that it was restricted everywhere and people call all the time about violators and that I should just pay the money and park in the valet. He made it sound like there was nada, and then finally he gave up the fact that right across the street there was parking. I practically had to negotiate for the info. After we were demoted to the worst possible table as punishment for having to push back the reservation, it went downhill more. My Dad got served a $15 glass of wine with what I estimated to be at least a good 1/2 teaspoon of sludge in the bottom of it. Instead of being embarrassed and comping it, the waiter said it was sugar. The GM was very condescending and dramatic about demonstrating the amount of "swirling" normal people usually do to their wine to "mix it up". I dont even like wine but know better than not to serve the ass-end of the bottle at a nice restaurant. He was Mr. Jerkitty Jerkison about it. I have been trying to call what I assumed was a nice owner to just tell them without posting but the owner is never there. Skip this restaurant people. It is not Peace in the Canyon. More like Lame Central in the Canyon. If you want this type of food, you can find better. There's plenty of places where the staff appreciates customers. Maybe this guy was a family member that they had to hire. What a bummer. I had such high hopes for Pace. On a happy note, the blond hostess lady was very nice. Luckily there are tons of restaurants in LA and more then one know their way to the farmers market.
Cons: Find another place.
