I cannot understand how this restaurant could be both fantastic and terrible at the same time. It is really a hit-or-miss experience.

Celeb connection still keeps this place going. – Before SBE took over the L.A. night-and-dine scene, Dolce Group reigned supreme. After all, with the likes of Geisha House, Les Deux , Ketchup and this enoteca (the first of their restaurant ventures), it's easy to see why. But even though times have changed, there is still that never-ending flow of Angelenos and their out-of-town cousins who simply can't resist this spot for its celeb connection (Ashton's an investor), clubby decor (designer Dodd Mitchell canvases the space with black leather accents and marble-cube columns) and sceney vibe (low lights, oversized booths and a cypress-lined patio). First-courses include shrimp and zucchini fried in a crisp garbanzo-flour coating, while entrees range from Gorgonzola risottto to prime rib with roasted potatoes to grilled branzino.

Rudest Manager and hostess in town! – Our group of six had a horrible experience last Friday at Dolce.

We arrived within few minutes of our friends and were received rudely by the Manager Maurizio , who had no clue that the rest of our party was already at the bar. I will not waste my time describing his mannerism and body language, the man clearly has no class.

After being seated I found out while waiting at the bar, one of our lady friends was bumped by a staff member and fell. Worst part, the waiter didn't even realize, and no apologies!

One of our group members approached the Manager to follow up on a request, and also to bring to his attention the incident at the bar. The manager had the audacity to tell, that he didn't have time to listen to him!

We were appalled by his response and then more baffled by the response we got from the Dolce group after all three families wrote to complain: "During "rush periods" in a busy restaurant, it is sadly inevitable that sometimes staff members and customers will collide when everyone is crowded together into a relatively small space and trying to move in different directions".

Dolce group claims of providing great service but as you can see from many reviews it's clear the staff and management don't know how!

As I quote the vice president of the Dolce group "we take our customers? satisfaction extremely seriously, and in the early of days of Dolce coined a phrase that illustrates our approach to the business: ?Treat every celebrity like a regular person, and treat every regular person like a celebrity.? ". Places like Dolce always come and go, unless they take their customers seriously and make sure all their employee understand the true meaning of customer service. No matter how good the food or the decor is, once you feel you're not welcomed in a place the whole mood changes and the experience ruined. I hope those of you who are serious restaurant goers and love good atmospher and courteous staff will avoid Dolce.

amazing ambience...and food to match – while dolce is known for being a seen and be seen restaurant because of its amazing atmosphere and clientele, the reason people keep coming back is most definitely for the food. I have been here a few times and never had a meal that did not meet and often surpass my expectations! right now, i'm loving the pumpkin ravioli. it is the PERFECT meal for this time of year...warms you up without leaving you stuffed (that is unless you eat the whole thing!) I split it with one of my friends and it was the perfect portion paired with the caesar salad (yuuum!) and the fried calamari appetizer (definitely some of the best i've had). While we did have to make reservations, once we got there, we were immediately seated by the amiable host!

Sleek Italian restaurant briefly reigned as the quintessential celeb hot spot, but is now accessible to all. – Designer Dodd Mitchell (Falcon, Katana) created a sweeping, slick space using black leather accents and marble-cube columns. Oversized booths in the dimly lit room and tables on the cypress-lined patio host a mix of young actors, neighborhood locals and the occasional celebrity. First-courses include calamari, and shrimp and zucchini fried in a crisp garbanzo-flour coating. For entrees, there are Gorgonzola risotto, prime rib with roasted potatoes and grilled branzino. A popular dessert is the ricotta cheese custard.

very cool bar and outside seating – I loved being seated outside. It's not totally outside, but there's that nice CA breeze and sun to enjoy.

Had the hamachi special. Great flavor with the olives and tomatoes. My friends had the steak and the fruitti de mar, which was great too.

Ben, the sommelier, was really nice. I didn't even ask to see him, but the moment I opened the menu, he was there to see if I needed any suggestions.

Also, the bar design was soo nice. They have fire right behind the liquor bottles...of course divided by this glass thing.

Amazing food and a great ambiance!

We called in the early afternoon Saturday to make reservations for that night. They had a 7:15 left and a 9:30 so we took the 9:30. We weren?t familiar with the crazy LA traffic and we were 25 minutes late. I called to let them know and they said no problem. When we arrived the restaurant was fairly busy. I loved the low lighting and candles all over the place. Dolce has wonderful food! We ordered the pesto gnocchi appetizer and the pesto sauce was out of this world! Then I ordered a raspberry martini which was delicious and I'm normally not a big fan of martinis. I had chicken piccata for dinner and it was delicious! My husband ordered veal and he loved it! The creme Brule is superb! I really can?t say one bad thing about this place. Even the service is great. All our food arrived quickly. Our waitress accidentally dropped a fork on my foot and she brought us free fruity shots to apologize. You definitely can't go wrong here and this will be a place I visit every time I am in L.A!

Quite Possibly the Worst Restaurant in LA – I'm not a picky eater. I don't run to write comments on restaurants if I'm not seated promptly, if food is cold, or service is less than great. But this place, from the manager to the waiters is poor. There I said it.

I have been to this restaurant three times. The first time out of curiosity, the second time because a friend was having a birthday there, and the third because of a graduation dinner.

First the food. The food is nothing special. A group of 8 of us spent close to $800 on food. The waiter came out to check on stuff three times total. Our appetizers came out cold and late. Our food took close to an hour and a half to come out. Meanwhile we were ready to eat the f'in table by then. We were seated in an outside area away from the rest of the patrons, and the waiter seemed to ignore us. This happened actually all three times we were there. I don't know if it's by design or what?

Once the food got there, it was decent, but it was way overpriced. The manager was extremely rude. After dinner the place becomes like a little bar with music. It's open to about 1-1:30. At midnight, the manager kicked everyone out. And not in the nice way "we're closed". The place was poppin'. Like 50 people were there having a good time trying to buy drinks. The bar tenders REFUSED service to any guy. The only sold drinks to girls. They were total d*chebags, and even that's an understatement. Mind you, the people there were a group of doctors who had just graduated med school and a few other professionals (two different parties). Everyone was stunned when the manager just started yelling at people that the place was closed.

The worst experience ever. Please do yourself a favor and boycott this and all other Dolce Group joints.

Great staff, great food – I went here alone for dinner, as I was in town for work. I wanted to try some different places that I had heard about. Everyone there was very nice to me - very attentive and at the right times. I had the calamari appetizer which is HUGE, but when I ordered it they did warn me about that - it was tasty none the less. I had the pumpkin ravioli with the sage-butter reduction - very good. They give you some bread and cheese with salami when you sit down. Only thing that caught me off guard is that when I asked for "flat" water, I found that I was charged $8.00 for the bottle of water - I guess I was expecting tap. The atmosphere is a little loud as they play music, but good music. Overall I enjoyed my dinner and felt very comfortable going there on my own - esp for 9:30 on a Friday night.
