WRONG ADDRESS!!!! GREAT FOOD!!! – First off the address is 561 S. Hamilton, so beware the address on this page.
My wife and I read about this place in a book on columbus eateries. IT was said to have the most authenic vietnamese food in the city. Well, I haev never been to Viet Nam, but this food was a far from any Americanized food I have ever had so I am guessing it is authentic. We had no idea what to order so we said to bring us "whatever you would eat." It ends up our waiter was the owner who's name is Amp. He was about as friendly a person as you will ever meet! This place is total "Mom & Pop." No affectations just freindly people and good food. We pigged out on soups and salads and other stuff they brought out. I highly recommend che3cking this place out...unless you idea of good Asian cuisine is Panda Express in which case go to Panda Express!
fresh! – This place is excellent. The food is as fresh as you can get, the owners are fun, and it's cheap. Their sandwiches at $5 are a steal. I'd easily pay $8 for them!
Try this place and you will be hooked – I am a Vietnamese food freak. This place is the best in town. Specials on weekends, most friendly mom and pop staff...you gotta go there.
Best Pho in Columbus! Great service! – Unfortunately, I was quite frustrated when trying to find this place, as CitySearch offers 885S Hamilton as the address, but it is not.. It is at 561 S Hamilton Rd, a bit further down the road in their own building with a nice big dark green tarp with their logo.
Upon arriving, parking was plentiful. I was immediately seated by the owner, and quickly given the menu, and shortly after, had my order taken. There menu is short, but only in quantity. After talking with the owners, they just have basic items on the menu, but they can make specialty dishes upon request. I ordered the Pho dac Biet in a larger bowl, which could be translated to, Pho with the works. My order came out with what seemed 30 seconds, there was a great portion of noodles, along with the meat and vegetables, decent amount of tripe, and the meatballs were delicious.
Upon finishing my meal, I walked up to the counter and paid, and had a great conversation with the store owners about the food and talked about the Pho, and various other things.
Overall, if your looking for a great place to try new food, or an amazing bowl of Pho, go to Indochine! Friendly service, great food, and 40"+ plasma tvs to watch for your entertainment. Inodchine also features a pick up window if you don't have time to sit down and eat. I left with a full belly and a smile on my face. Solid business.
Authentic yet flexible food, wonderful owners and staff – This is one of those off the beaten trail places that once you discover you just can't stay away from.
The food is authentic and wonderful, but at the same time if you would prefer something prepared differently just ask and the chef is more than accommodating to reasonable requests.
I have eaten here many many times and have always received a warm welcome from the staff, and had a great meal.
The iced sweetened coffee is perfect, and once you try the egg rolls you will have to have them again and again.
BEST Veit Pho! house in town (vietnamese and Laotian Food) – AMP and FUMY is the best. i feel like family when a go there make sure you try #10 and laos Papaya i think its #3 (it is out of this world). If you what shitti food and shitti! service go some where else if you want good food and good service INDOCHINE is the place to be. don't take my word for it TRY IT and you know what i mean.
First Post is right on – Family run joint, with kids always ding homework, watching one of the several large plasmas hanging around. I'm from San Francisco, where I can pick up a good bowl of noodles all over the place. Columbus has only one pho' joint worth going to, and this is it. Food is excellent, service is a bit slow because they're in the back making everything to order. Standard Rice plates, pho', etc. Spring rolls are off the hook! Food made with love by good people.
Eat here. Don't waste your time anywhere else.
Best Spring Rolls in town – This cafe has only been in existence for only 1 1/2 years now but compared to the other Viet restaurants in Columbus, it is the best in authenticity. A nice atmosphere, the wait staff was very attentive. Although compared to other Vietnamese restaurants as it was a tad slow, it was well worth it as everything is made to order and biting into our appetizers showed the attention to detail they put into making everything look and taste good. The spring rolls were huge, with the shrimp being more like a prawn in these rolls, mixed in with the pork, rice vermicelli, basil, mint and cilantro. The fried spring rolls were nice and crisp, tasty against the sweet and sour chili sauce. Our phos came out piping hot, with the portions more than I expected, making the value of this entree very affordable compared to the other Viet restaurants. The combination bun (grilled pork and fried spring rolls) looked and tasted very good as well, although the sauce lacked any sweetness and ended being more of a nuoc mam (fish sauce) than a vinagrette that would normally go with this dish. I spoke to the chef afterwards and there are items not standard on the menu that she could make as well including banh xeo (happy moon, I consider a Vietnamese omelete with a mixture of pork, shrimp, onion, and bean sprouts) and banh cuon, a rice flour crepe filled with a meat mixture, on a bed of , blanched bean sprouts, shredded butter lettuce and julienne cucumbers. She recommends that you call that order ahead if the restaurant is busy for these specialy items or any other Vietnamese fare that is not standard on the menu.
I went looking for this restaurant and couldn't find it. I found out it is now the Indochine Cafe on 885S Hamilton Rd in Columbus. The food is very good. I love it!
