Pasqualone's LaPLaia the best in Italian – Our family has been going to LaPlaia for years. It is by far our favorite Italian restaurant anywhere. The sauce is incomparable. There is always an interesting variety of offerings but it's difficult to pass up the Chicken Parmesan, our personal favorite. The restaurant is intimate and the owner treats us like family, always warm and welcoming. The staff is always courteous. I think this is one of Columbus' lesser known treasures. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

True Italian food – I am a frequent guest at Pasqualone's. The food is better than it has ever been. I try a different dish every visit, as always I walk away with a pleasant experience. They have recently remodeled ( Love the new look). The staff is very courteous. I highley recommend this TRUE ITALIAN restaurant .

Service and Food Quality Has Declined – My husband and I have gone there for 5 years. Friends recently had a bad experience--we thought they were crazy and found out they were right. Food quality has declined--Carfagna's is better. One waiter needs to go back to Manners 100 class. Server spent as little as possible time with us. never checked to see how food was or if we needed anything. Rude when we asked him to repeat the specials. Others must feel the same way---restaurant was vacant. Overpriced for what you get. Go to Mac Dona'lds and you will get better customer service. Go to Olive Garden for better food.

Unrivaled Food and Service – I had heard about this place for years. My wife and I have traveled to Italy a few times and are very picky when it comes to Italian food. I finally made a reservation last weekend. It is unbelievable that this type of quality could be found in a strip mall close to a bowling alley. I was greeted at the front door by the server. He escorted us to our table. The restaurant is quite small. A large colorful mural depicting the owner’s village decorated one wall. The opposite wall was lined with mirrors and hanging candles. The server spent a considerable amount of time going over the specials. His enthusiasm and passion were contagious. We started off with dirty martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives and an antipasto plate. The mixture of meats, cheeses, tomato and olives were unbelievable. The bread was the perfect combination of crispy crust and soft chewy center. The next course was a very simple salad of mixed greens, and tomato with lemon juice and olive oil. We ordered a wonderful bottle of Amarone. The server decanted the bottle using an aerator that I had never seen before. The pace of the meal was slow and leisurely, the way that we like it. The server informed us, when we sat down, that the table was ours for the evening. I ordered lamb chops and my wife ordered Veal Saltimbocca. The lamb was perfectly prepared. A nice pan seared crust on the outside and a beautiful medium rare in the center. It was served with a side of White Truffle Campanelle and cheese. It was exquisite. My wife was equally pleased with her veal. The cutlet was topped with a razor thin slice of Prosciutto di Parma and a slice of melted provolone. The sauce was complex and perfectly layered. The clean taste of the veal reduction coupled with sage butter and white wine was divine. We were convinced we were too full for dessert, but after hearing the server artfully describe the selection, we decided to share a refreshing lemon sorbetto. The perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. The owner and his wife stopped by our table at the end of the evening to chat with us. Upon hearing that it was our first time, the owner’s wife, Lori, poured us two complimentary shots of some delicious lemon digestif. I cannot wait to return.

I don't get ANY of the positive reviews. – Went there as part of a party of 8 for a Sat night 8pm reservation. First upon walking in the carpet is old, dungy and horrible - the carpet condition alone I would have walked out on, but our group was already there. This place is REALLY small - it has a fish tank going down the middle but they can't handle a group of 8 as my seat was backed into the seat of someone sitting at another table. The waiter knew the menu inside and out, but he literally kept saying over and over "making this food takes a long time, you will have a long wait, there are 2 tables with orders ahead of you (what is this, fast food). It was loooong times before he came back to check on drinks for that 'long wait' for the food. The place was only half full, no excuse to have to wait that long for the food (about an hour). It wasn't that great considering for the average price (ours was $80 for me and my gf) I can name 200 places that are better in Columbus. You don't keep telling customers they are going to have a long wait, there's no excuse for it when other restaurants are better and do it in half the time - unless we were wating for the tomato plants to grow). Also, the waiter just brought our table 1 bill - never asked if we wanted separate - who does that ?! Inside place was old and dungy. When we got our food there was not another customer in the place - so how did everyone else get their food, desert AND leave and we had just gotten our main course ? I would not go back.

Great Traditional Italian – The sauce was phenomenal. I had a lasagna that was to die for. The mixture of cheeses and meats reminded me of nana's.

I wish I could have tried their bracciole. The anitpasto was great with a mixture of sopresata, salami, bocaccini, tomato, peperincini, and olives. Just the right amount for 2.

The canoli was outstanding as well the filling was creamy and delicious with bits of chococate and covered with nuts and chocolate at either end dusted with powdered sugar

I highly recommend this restaurant. It is for real Italians

Not as good as it used to be! – I've been going to this restaurant since 1994 and while it is still probably my favorite italian restaurant I am sad at the decline it's taken in the last few years. For as elegant a place that it is meant to be, the last 3 times I've been there they've served mine and my husband's pop from a can. I know typically you drink wine with italian dishes but just because we choose not to, don't serve me from a can, at least pour it in the kitchen and make me think it came from the fountain! I still love the specials and chicken marsala, gnocci, manicotti and GREAT salad!! I would recommend La Plaia to anyone who loves homemade italian food as though you were in the town painted on the wall in the dining room. I miss the old waiter who always made us laugh!!

Simply the Best – La Plaia is by far the best Italian food I have ever had. In fact, the three dinners I have had at La Plaia are some of the best meals I have ever had (not just Italian meals, but any meals). I always get the special which twice was a baked rigatoni and once was a lasagna. The red sauce in these dishes has separated La Plaia from other contenders and it has been something I have tried to duplicate in a recipe of my own for over two years with limited success. When I am finished with my food at La Plaia, I leave no sauce on the plate--it is just that good.

This great restaurant has distinguished itself from many other Italian restaurants and non-Italian restaurants alike. This review comes from a man from Cleveland who believes La Plaia to be twice as good as any Italian restaurant in Cleveland's Little Italy neighborhood.

made to order true italian food – i have worked at LaPlaia for 2 years and i am from an italian family . You can not get any closer to true italian in this country. This not the place to find ranch dressing ,it is the place to experience italian food without leaving the country. Try our Veal Marsala its my personal favorite!

Cute little restaurant, expensive, usually need reservations. Food only fair. – We used to love this restaurant, but after the kids came, we stopped going. Too expensive and you usually need reservations, not quite the usual restaurant for kids, although they seem welcome and the owner seems to enjoy them. Now the kids are older and we went again recently and I was disappointed. The service was okay, the owner still comes around and jokes with the customers, but the food is absurdly overpriced and not what I remember. We had the cheese bread appetizer, which was chokingly salty. The salad was okay, but no choice of dressing and the vinegar and oil they use tastes odd. My cheese ravioli were decent, but I got 6 and they came out covered with that awful powdered Parmesan that you find in shakers in pizza places. So did my son's spaghetti, so he was unhappy, too. I wish they'd asked. The marinara is very thin, and the rolls are fair. Considering what we paid, I don't think we'll be back. I think I'd prefer Olive Garden!
