This restaurant is closed, gone, dead, finished, empty, out of business, no longer there, missing, history

Always a great meeting spot – It's easy to find and always fun to hang out at. Parking can be a challenge - you just have to find a meter. The staff is friendly and even though it's always packed, you always get served promptly.

Not a coffee lover's destination – CitySearch's editorial mentions that Coffee Table buys their beans from Crimson Cup, a roaster here in Columbus. That has not been the case for several years. They currently are purchasing beans from the Cleveland-based Caruso's Coffee. This roaster's coffee is significantly inferior to Crimson Cup. Whereas Coffee Table used to offer a rotating, widely-varied daily coffee selection, including many magnificent single origin coffees, once they went to Caruso's they limited their selection to a narrow choice of blends. Their house blend remains a moderately acceptable choice, a light roast that is heavy on one or more Northern Ethiopian coffees, giving it a sweet, chocolatey taste. However the other coffees offered, such as the Vienna Roast, are bitter and tepid.

Long standing business – I have been going to the Coffee Table since it opened over 10 years ago and its a wonderful place to hang out and chat with friends, etc... The coffee is always good and the staff is very friendly. Has changed decor several times over the years and its always something different - very unusual and funky - but I think that gives it more appeal.

A lively coffeehouse in the center of the Short North. – The Scene
One of a handful of businesses that has been able to survive the Short North Arts District's escalating rental costs, the Coffee Table is a central place to meet for a quick coffee or a long conversation. Curved booths are lined with artsy--but rather unfriendly-looking--sheet metal, and the walls generally showcase local art. Other little touches, like a gaudy couch and an Elvis lamp, add some extra character. In the warm months, the patio overflows with a herd of grousing armchair fashion critics. If you take a walk (or even a drive) past these cultural jurors at the junction of Buttles Avenue and High Street, expect to be inspected, commented on or, at the very least, stared at.

The Food
The java served at the Coffee Table is roasted by Crimson Cup Coffee and Tea. It's always reliable, and all of the requisite coffee drinks are available. A large display case holds a number of pastries, cookies, muffins and other treats for noshing.

The Best – The best time to come here is on a Sunday morning. The short north is quiet and the shop is not so full. If it is warm outside, sit outside. Otherwise if you hang inside you will learn the staff is great, really friendly, and fun to talk to!
