Gone. Unfortunately, as of the end of January, the Round Bar is closed for business. Goodbye, everyone at the Round Bar.
It's always sunny at the round bar. Perhaps best known for its ecclectic crowd, generous libations and friendly knowledgable staff, the round bar is a Columbus institution. The happy hour is a must see with pictures of the most revered patrons hanging on the wall and huddled around the bar. as Eddie, Chip and Bethany, hold court on every night except Sunday giving the bar a unique and well developed personality. Equally interesting is the late nite scene after 10:30 as the crowd welcomes a truly random and diverse group of new patrons and post club partiers towander into check out the scene. Consistently a "Cheers" for me I recommend every one check out the landmark bar which made its first appearance on the world scene in the movie "Little Man Tate'.
The art of conversation lives at this circular hotel lounge..
In Short
Before Best Western Hotels bought and renovated the Clarmont in 1999, the Round Bar was one of the most colorful slices of history in the city. The nostalgic red and gold décor has been replaced with muted pastel prints, but the simple lure of conversing in a booth-lined round room, with a modest selection of top-shelf liquor and decent domestic and imported beers served from a sunken, circular bar in its center, keeps crowds coming back.
All hail Bethany!!!. The Roundie makes the best (strongest) mixed drinks in town in an atmosphere that combines old-school cocktail lounge style with a modern hip edge. Bethany rules the place on Sat nights, pouring drinks only as she can...especially the infamous shot - "Get on your knees..." - a classic downtown hangout!
