We waited a long time (45 minutes) for our food due to a large party in the banquet room. I really think that ALL the customers are a priority. This was to be our Valentine's dinner. Our drinks were served with unwrapped straws already in them which in my opinion is gross considering they may have already been used: a big cross contamination issue. My girlfriend ordered the chicken ceasar salad. I was served my salad right away while she continued to starve for 45 minutes. When she received her salad there was a hair in it, the plate was dirty. and the ceasaer dressing was inedible. My dinner, a rib chicken combo, was served with a lemon slice that looked like it had been a garnish on previous customers' dishes. I squashed it so they could not use it again. The lemon was a greyish yellow color. The ribs were overcooked to the point that they were cremated with hardly any edible meat on the bones. I am convinced they were a product of roadkill because some of the bones were broken. The chicken tasted like it had been stewed in filth. The barbecue sauce was congealed and piled on both meats, most likely to hide the foul meat underneath. The rib bones were vaporized on the ends. The waitress was a sweet woman named Dee and her service was great. I gave her a ten dollar tip because I feel these servers are at the mercy of poor management and cooking and probably suffer in tips due to others' incompetence. After eating here I wanted to commit a crime and go to jail just so I can have a better meal.

Not a favorite any more – I went to the Tick Tock Tavern on Clifton Ave. last night anticipating a good rib dinner. I have not been there for 6 years but remember how good the ribs were. I would take my family there at least 4 times a year and never had a disappointment, until last night. We ordered some wings as an appetizer, they were excellent. I ordered the original St. Louis style ribs with a salad and fries. My wife ordered the ribs and chicken with a salad and fries. The salads were loaded with brown lettuce and not very appealing. I was really disappointed in the ribs. Botm my wife's and mine were very very fatty. I told the waitress that the ribs were very fatty and she told the owner. The owner, who also cooked our meals came to our table and I told him how bad our ribs were. His reply to me was "If you want lean ribs, you should have order lean ribs, some people like fat on there ribs". I don't mind a little fat on my ribs and expect there to be some, but not a thick layer covering all of the meat. He told me next time I come in to order my ribs lean. I didn't know you had to specify "lean" in order to get good ribs. If you don't mind your ribs covered with fat this is the place to go. I will never go back there again. Very Very Disappointed.

food is supposed to be good1 – This restaurant was recommended as the best ribs so I went there cuz I was too lazy to cook. The waitress recommended their signature items and other guests from other tables said I wouldn't be disappointed. I was excited cuz it's been a long time since I had some ribs. I've been around the midwest trying all sorts of food so I HAVE EATING GOOD FOOD EXPERIENCE! People in Cleveland must have never eaten food before cuz I thought it was WAAAAY overrated! You folks need to explore other restaurants so you know what good food tastes like. If I'm going out to eat, and paying a high price, then it should taste better than what I can throw down at home. If you don't know what good food tastes like, then you need to save up your pennies go to CHICAGO and eat the food there. If not then go to a place that is a little more expensive. There is a good reason why people pay the extra money for food that knocks your sox off. Here's a tip of a low quality restaurant. If it looks broke, and it's more than half empty on a weekend night, then that is your que to turn around and spend your hard earned dollars somewhere else. I don't know how these restaurants last for years serving sub par food. If I opened a restaurant next door to this one, I guarantee I would earn their 30 year loyalty with one meal and put them out of business. If you are the owner reading this then you should start thinking outside the box to challenge yourself to revamp a menu that makes a person say OMG! That food was sooooo freaking unbelieveable! So please don't be offended. This is a reality check. Too many people were just simply too afraid to tell the real deal and that will hurt the business. I 'm helping you out before it's too late and hope you can increase your customer base.

worst steak in Ohio, rotten salads UGH !!! – My salad was delivered with rotten lettuce, still frozen cucumber ( why they had it so cold is beyond me) tomato with black spots.

Took 15 minutes to get the waitress and she just goes " Oh, OK, I get you another" and life was supposed to be good then.

My steak arrived. I'd rather eat my dog droppings as they would be at least warm.

The steak was a frozen one not thawed correctly and slapped on a griddle maybe, Lord Knows.

All I can say is I wish I had my Buck knife to cut thru the wet-slime and tough connective tissue.

Their knives are dull, prices S H A R P.

My vegetables on the steak plate still had ice and ice crystals on them.

My son's salad ( salmon salad) would have gagged a maggot AND a starving rabbit.

THEN they charge me $50.00.

I would not reccomend this place to a rotting corpse seeking putrid brains from a Zombie movie.

Best Ribs Ever! – I am from Sacramento and went to see a relative in Lakewood. I asked where is a good place to get a beer. He said The Tick Tock Tavern. He failed to tell me the best ribs ever were sold there also.I am 33 and been to alot of cities, even Dallas, Ft. Worth, Houston all cities who claim to have the best ribs. The best ribs are in Cleveland Ohio!

Best Ribs! – I'm from Maryland and was in Cleveland on business when I first went to this tavern on the advice of a business associate. My initial reaction was that I went back in time! The place looks soo sixties. My associate told me not to worry because I was going to love the food. Man was he right! I have traveled all over the US and I want to tell you that I've been searching for the equal of those ribs ever since. If I'm even close to Cleveland, I'm making time to visit Tick Tock Tavern for those ribs! I have been there about a dozen times over the years and have never been disappointed!

Tasty & Affordable – This place has been around for decades and I know why, the food is incredible! They are famous for their barbecue, but also have a great menu selection with some mediterrenian flair. The seafood salad is my favorite. Their burgers are fantastic, they have a nice selection of specialties and they are under $5!!!!! How amazing is that?

And, I've never been charged for soda refills there so I don't know what that guy is talking about.

The dining area could use a good cleaning and some redecoration though. I recommend take-out.

Locals of many varieties make time for this ageless bar and barbecue joint. – The Scene
On the liberal strip of far-west Cleveland that is Clifton Boulevard, it's refreshing to find a bar that offers no gimmicks, no pick-up lines, no frou-frou drinks, just a small beer selection, boxed wine and strong cocktails, poured by experts who know their business. And there's a faded photo of Joe Namath hanging on the wall.

The Draw
This joint serves some of the best barbecue town, but you're missing the total experience if you stop at the St. Louis-style platter. The Tock has endured by slathering beef, birds and bones with a distinctive hot sauce, then setting the lot to turn slowly in the window rotisserie. Desperately seeking takeout? Squeeze to the counter and shout. The chicken's skin comes out as dry as parchment, but the inside is as juicy as the gossip that the regulars exchange. Ask for extra napkins.

Charging for pop refills?!? – ate in the restaurant--charged for both refills on tiny glass of pop!! What a jip!!!! Even the waitress thought it sucked. Burger was excellent, Fries were a little greasy, but it was great.

Drank in bar. Bartenders friendly and funny, making jokes with each other.
