Well... – So I live near this place. I have not been in. I just order delivery. So far so good till today. 2/24/2012 4pm -5pm.

I called to place my order. The young woman on the line was not paying attention. Very nice but not focused. I had to repeat my 2 item order 3 times. All I asked for was California Wok Soup, large and the House Special Chow Fun. Then was told they were out of the chow fun.

So my order wast this California Wok Soup and House Special Chow Mein.

Got here within 35 minutes nice. Wrong soup! Won ton. When I called to adjust it the man on the phone told me his would send the driver back out and charge me the extra dollar for the soup. Really? Your staff makes a mistake and I have to pay for it and there is no try at customer service.

I am going to take the soup back and ask for my cash back. This was not what I wanted and I am not going to pay for it.

I hope this goes well.

awlful – Oh my god, the bathroom is disgusting, when I was eating a guy was moping around me that fumed the air with chemicals. My meat (beef and broccoli) was tough and over sauced. Rude service. When I cam in, the lady RUDELY told one of her employees to put away the food. Portion size way too small. I cannot believe they have a A rating! EAT AT YOUR RISK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First and last time customer. Mediocre food and not so nice service. – Sitting at home sick I decided to order delivery. Craving Chinese but did not want the usual oily, greasy, MSG loaded Chinese that we're all familiar with I decided to order from California Wok with it's claim to be "healthy Chinese food". I was a bit concern with delivery so the first thing I asked them was "how long is delivery time at the moment" the waitress stated that it would be "30-40 min", so I went ahead and placed my order in.

It took the guy about 70 min to actually get to my place which lost him his tips (I'm generally very considerate when ordering delivery and usually tip $5). After handing the money to him he counted it and glared at me with an evil look commenting "what no tips? you forget my tip money."

I ordered a large war wonton, which is supposed to come loaded with chicken, shrimp, and vegetables. However, when I poured the soup out onto a serving dish there were only 2 shrimp, 3 pieces of chicken, and about 2 pieces each of mushroom, carrots, bamboo slice, and water chestnut. I figured "no bigger I'm sick so I just want the soup more then anything", but when I took my first sip of the soup it tasted like water down Swanson chicken broth (more water then broth). In the end my BF ate all the solid and poured the soup down the sink drain. Anyone wanting to order this soup would be better off spooning warm water down their throat.

Their "House special beef steak" which states "Juicy fillet mignon stir fried." Was tough, chewy and dry. I personally think that they used beef chunks (very low grade of beef) which resulted in the chewy/toughness. Overall this dish was on the oily, greasy and bland side. Not worth what's charged for the dish.

As stated this is my first and last experience with this restaurant. Never again, there's far to many restaurants in this great city of ours to have to settle for one that serve mediocre food.

Mediocre, and not worth the Extreme Hassle. Plus, Meow?? – There aren't a lot of Chinese food places that Deliver in the miracle mile area, and this place is pretty quick. But the food is just okay - and they almost ALWAYS mess up the order. They make most of their chicken dishes with that shadey, chewey dark meat, which is full of gristle. To be honest, I don't even think it's actually chicken, okay?

I ALWAYS ask for the white meat ("that one dollar extra!") That's fine - I pay the buck - but then they STILL deliver dark meat. This has happened about three times (you think we'd learn), so this time we called and told them to either refund our charge, or bring new food.

After much debate, they said they would send a new order - but wanted the old one back (kind of a weird request, not that we ate it, but what are they going to do with it?!?! Anyhow, the real kicker is THE FOOD WAS THE WRONG ORDER AGAIN - AND DARK MEAT!!!!

Wokcano isn't much better, and a little on the pricey side, but the orders are at least correct.

I'll put up with some hassle for authentic food, but this ain't authentic, and it's not even as tasty and satisfying as a chain like PF Chang's.

Save your money up for a good delivery or pick up from a better place.

If anyone has recommendations for good Chinese in the area, give a holler!

Slightly Better than Average – Nothing special here, nothing awful either. The food is what you expect. Fast and inexpensive. The healthy choices are a plus. I have had decent delivery experiences except for the last one. They couldn't find my apartment which they had been to on several occasions. They also sent the wrong entree.

Poor customer service - small portions – I'm not used to being treated by restaurant staff and management in such a callous and offensive manner. When we called to report that a dish in our take-out was extra spicy instead of the requested mild, we were berated over the phone before finally being offered a replacement. After driving back to the restaurant, having left the dinner table to do so, I was given a hard time once again in the store. Add to this the fact that there were maybe only 8 pieces of chicken in the sweet and sour chicken dish (plenty of onions, though), and we have decided to never frequent the establishment again.

Excellent Food-Prepared Right in Front of You – This place just in front of the Beverly Center has an extensive menu of all the American Chinese dishes, with healthy selections as well. What is fabulous and different is that they prepare the food to order right in front of you, instead of having it sitting in bins. I am a sucker for fried rice, so I ordered the shrimp fried rice and watched it cooking right in front of my eyes. The portions are huge dining in, but their take out portions are small, so dining in is a much better value. The food was delicious.

Wok on the light side with this casual eatery's healthy Chinese cuisine. – In Short
California Wok attracts brisk business during lunch hour. Evenings, the takeout-friendly eateries attract a mellower neighborhood crowd. No-frills dining offers booths and tables for a cozy, relaxed meal. Specializing in "healthy" Chinese food, most dishes are prepared with canola oil and modified to contain less fat and sodium. Moo shu is prepared with egg whites; shrimp and spring scallions are served in ginger-garlic sauce; and sweet-sour crispy beef incorporates strips of scallion and cilantro.
