Everybody's Records: One of the Best Things About Cincinnati – Everybody's Records has been around since the mid-70s and I've been a regular shopper there since about 1993. I can honestly say it's one of the best independent record stores left in the country. I've spent a lot of time visiting the stores in Chicago, Seattle, and Boston, and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that Everybody's is on par with the best that can be found in those cooler towns.

SELECTION: One of the best things about Everybody's Records is that they truly live up to their name. They have a wide selection of new and used music across many different genres. Sure, their rock/pop section is impressive, but they also carry an extensive stock of jazz, hip hop, reggae, blues, punk, and local releases. The store specializes in CDs and vinyl, but they also carry shirts, books, magazines, and even a few cassette tapes.

PRICE: Of course, an impressive selection is worthless if the prices aren't right. I've found that Everybody's is usually at least a dollar cheaper than Shake It Records, their competition over in Northside. I've been known to drive from one store to the other to comparison shop and I've typically found that to be the case.

EMPLOYEES: Another major positive about Everybody's is that their employees don't have the hipper-than-thou attitude that often plagues those who work in indie music stores. The employees at Everybody's are nice, helpful people who won't judge you based on your musical tastes. You can go in there and buy Radiohead, Thelonious Monk, or Barry Manilow and not feel like you're being judged.

If you live in Cincinnati, you owe it to yourself to support the fine people at Everybody's Records. Cincinnati without Everybody's would be a nightmare.* If you're just in town for a visit, I'd highly recommend stopping by Everybody's if you have some extra time. I'm sure you'll enjoy the trip and find something worth buying.

(* = I actually had a dream once that Everybody's turned into a grocery store. I woke up in cold shivers.)

an excellent independent record store – Everybody's is one of the best little independent record stores anywhere in the U.S. Whenever I visit Cincinnati (I live in Seattle, Washington), a visit to Everybody's is a must-do. The selection is impressive (especially for indie rock/pop), the staff are helpful, and the prices are excellent to boot. I always seem to find buried treasures in the sales bins, and the vinyl is also fun to explore.

First time for everything – I bought a Tool album and when I got home and opened it, I found out it was a fake. I did my research and it was confirmed to be a fake or should I say a bootleg copy. I went into the store the next day trying to be humble and low key but the guy behind the counter instantly copped an attitude insisting it was not a fake. Raising his voice with much anger.

I gave him complete proof that it was a bootleg and he continued to harass me and tried to intimidate me into believing his lie. When I ask him to call his supplier, he cursed at me saying, You think because you come in here with a bunch of bull*hit, you'll get your way?

He ripped my credit card out of my hand and said, I'll give you your money back and don't ever come back to this store. I guessed he was the owner.ha

I had just bought a $500 turntable and I have $20K worth of speakers and I was very excited to get into buying albums again like when I was a kid. I'm 55 years old now and I have alot of money to spend on albums. So much for helping out the local economy. I wouldn't step foot in that store if you gave me a million bucks. Well I guess for a million but now I'm banned from that bug hole record shop. I hear there's a better one in Northside. I think I'll spend all my money there. When everything was said and done, I did call him an acehole when I walked out. He needed to hear it and I needed to say it. The record is a total fake and was recorded from a cd to vinyl somewhere in China most likely. They should change the name to We think Everybodys stupid. They sell bootleg crap to people and then yell at them when they get caught. Good Job!

New and used CDs. vintage vinyl and a knowledgeable staff. – In Short
Known around town as one of the best places to find old LPs as well as obscure blues, jazz and world music, Everybody's has a little something for, well, everybody. Indie and punk 7" records are stocked about as well as can be expected in Cincinnati. A large selection of hip-hop, a few cases of collectible imports and music magazines round out the inventory. Everybody's also buys used CDs, LPs and cassettes.
