The lobster, salmon, bottarga, bolognese pasta are amazing. The restaurant was very nice, upscale everyone was courteous.

Madeo is an LA institution. It will break the bank, but worth the experience. Great spot for celeb sightings.

Spaghetti with Veal Bolognese is fantastic! – Madeo is a great Italian restaurant for a special night out or with guests in town. The service was perfect and the food delicious. Salads, pasta and they'll even make something for you even if it's not on the menu (like an amazing Veal Parmigana). Just make a reservation and enjoy!

A family-owned Beverly Hills Italian standby that's pricey but popular. – The Scene
The excellent Beverly Hills people-watching scene is straight out of "The Player." Hollywood heavy-hitters, who are coddled by the effusive owners, pack the place for both lunch and dinner. Attractive black-and-white photos of old Italy grace the walls. The vast booths are equally appropriate for romantic tete-a-tetes or top-secret business deals.

The Food
With a menu that can be extravagantly overpriced, this Northern Italian hangout offers an interesting, though sometimes pretentious, selection that alternates from mouthwatering to downright awful. The eggplant parmigiana floats, light and ethereal, melting in the mouth, while a tough baccala (dried salt cod) is overwhelmed by tomato sauce. Another culinary riddle: A pedestrian linguini strewn with Manila clams is fishy and bitter; but the veal roast, carved from a huge, gorgeous hunk of meat, is tender, heightened by a light but complex brown sauce.

Wow...this is good – This must be the best place for Italian in BevHills - I really ought to know, as I have tried them all. This is a fantastic restaurant with outstanding food and quite OK service. Especially when the owner himself takes care of you. I love this place and it is perfect for taking anyone and everyone for dinner. Lunch is very good as well as it is somewhat quiet (evenings gets a little bit more loud). Very very good...

Best Italian in LA – This is the real deal for good food. If you like Steak and Lobster pasta that taste like se* for your mouth than Madeo is for you. Expect to pay $100 a head, that is with a good wine, apetizers, dinner, and desert. Simply the best place to eat in town. They have a classic bar and the best wine selection, so you can chill and have a drink. I suggest the Chicken Parmigana, Peppercorn Filet, and Osso Bucco. Make Reservations.

What A Disappointment! – We recently went here for a special occassion and were extremely disappoined. Over the years the service, the food, and the ambience have always been so good. We were seated quickly only to wait forever to get our order placed. We had to keep asking for drink refills, bread and the food was way under par. It didn't taste fresh and was over sauced. We were so disgusted with the horrible service and tasteless food that we didn't even order dessert. Then it took another drawn out wait for the check to arrive. None of us have been back since. The best part of our evening was dessert at Urth Cafe!

Madeo – Wonderful Northern Italian food in a very East Coast atmosphere. Waiters were mixed but the place is very familial.

Star spottings one night were Matthew Broderick and Johnny Depp among other familiar character actors.

Madeo Forever! – Madeo was one of a handful of authentic Italian restaurants I used to frequently dine in the last 80's and throughout the late 90's. I hadn't been in quite a while but went recently in 2002. The restaurant was better than I had remembered. Same owner, great food and old world service that was second to none in Los Angeles.

You simply cannot get a better dining experience. It also has one of the best bars and a large wine selection. This is a staple of the city and great for anyone who regularly dines out with friends and business associates.

You don't want to bring your kids, unless they're older or very well behaved.
