Rare selection of tasty fish – This place has some amazing fish, that is high quality.

Reasonably priced.

You have to wait a bit but it is well worth it!

For something a little out of the ordinary, Hirozen Gourmet caters sushi, sashimi and teriyaki. – In Short
Sushi is as indigenous to Southern California as tacos. So if you're looking to take your event's menu beyond baked chicken, consider Hirozen Gourmet. Founded in 1989 by chef Hiroji Obayashi, this outfit specializes in Japanese favorites like sushi, tempura and teriyaki. Inexpensive delivery and free setup are available and Hirozen can even recommend bakeries and bar services to suit your event.

always very busy – The food here is very good. I want to emphasize that- it is actually really good. But it gets very crowded and the service is very slow. SO if you want to eat here, I recommend getting a take out menu and calling ahead. The food is just as good at home and you don't have to wait.

Great Sushi – Awesome Sushi - portions are a little on the small side which is the only reason it doesnt get a 10. LOVE this place though!

Disappointed – After reading all the great reviews, my friends and I dined there over this past weekend and I was aquite disappointed. Food was Average. The waitresses seemed a little 'rushed' and it didn't seem personalized. Also, One of Shef seemed disturbed. Possibly having a bad day? It would be wise not to let the customers see that in you for they have done nothing to put you there. They should also keep their personal life to thirself and/or co-workers. We don't want to hear about it.

Great affordable sushi in a clean and mellow place – Really great sushi that doesn't break the bank! Spartan but clean dining area with great waiters. Definitely worth a try and much better sushi than at Sushi Roku, which is always full of "industry" types yammering on their cell phones. irashaimase!

Mediocre? Hardly! – Hirozen is one of the best little secrets in LA. The staff is very friendly, the service excellent and the fish is unbelievably fresh. It has some of the best spanish mackerel and japanese sea bass in town, and the Uni is fresh from Santa Barbara. Their cold sake list could improve, but it's not a small list and does have some good choices. And, it's incorrect that they only go to the market twice a week - they go every day. Their menu is not as "comprehensive" as some restaurants, but the quality is far superior to most, including the fancier ones which are also big on attitude. Using The Hump as the high end standard, I rate the quality at about 85-90% the quality of fish, at about 1/3 the price, depending upon the dish. It's a combo that's hard to beat anywhere else in town.

mediocre sushi at best – after reading the reviews here, we assumed that we would be in for some kind of treat. well, we were wrong. the sushi chefs are very nice, and the service is great, but the quality of the fish is really just standard. toro here is $15, which is really a lot to charge for this caliber restaurant. the other fish is really just average quality, nothing to boast about. we came on a friday night, and while the place was packed, there's nothing here to really justify that. the fish is served in small portions, and some of the fish is actually on the dry side. whoever buys the fish obviously does it only a couple times a week; not the sign of a top-notch sushi bar. pity, because besides the food the place is nice.

Great Sushi and SUPER GOOD Service – Hirozen is a wonderful family owned local sushi resteruants. They manage to serve excellent sushi and have top notch service AND they have a huge line every night at the door. I have seen plenty of celebrities there too. Even though it's literally in a strip mall; it is one of the best sushi resteraunts on beverly. The prices are very good BUT the parking is not. Try to get street parking on Beverly.

Low-key restaurant serves authentic Japanese cuisine--without attitude or high price tags. – In Short
A little less "Irashaimase!" and a little more "Loved your script," it's become a young Hollywood ritual to squeeze into this 10-table strip-mall eatery for creative sushi and ippin-ryori (Japanese pub food). The tiny kitchen dishes out starters like tempura-fried zucchini flowers stuffed with shrimp and shiitake. Sushi selections include a dozen daily specials, from Icelandic trout to orange clam to grilled escolar sashed in seaweed and topped with garlic in ponzu sauce.
