This Longhorn Steakhouse location used to have a reputation for the best steaks in the Eastgate area. The last time we visited, about six months ago, this was true. However, several of our neighbors stopped going there, claiming the quality had gone downhill. We decided to visit yesterday to see for ourselves. They were right.

I'll just reel off the criticisms, here:

1) No greeting at door.

2) Dirty bar, covered in peanut shells, abandoned plates with food still on them, wet spots.

3) Bartender unfriendly to the point of being rude.

4) Small drinks at higher-than-average price.

5) Steaks had too much gristle.

6) Food very plainly prepared, no seasoning.

Only positive thing I can say is the server was friendly. I was especially surprised by this given that the restaurant appeared to be understaffed. We had to wait about 10 minutes after finishing our meal to get our check.

I guess being part of a chain means you don't have to care about quality? I'm not sure, but I know Longhorn lost two customers yesterday.

National chain rustles up rib eyes, T-bones and fillets in a kid-friendly, Lone Star-inspired setting. – In Short
One of the country's most successful steakhouse empires attracts a casual crowd with huge, reasonably priced steak dinners and a tempered Texan milieu (country music and imposing cattle busts). Wise diners turn off their internal calorie counters, as many menu items arrive fried, covered in cheese, or both. A typically rich meal starts with cheese fries, followed by a blue cheese-crusted fillet. Fried cheesecake ends the night on a note of Texas-sized decadence.
