Awful – I couldn't agree more with these negative reviews. This place is positively terrible. I went there once with a group of friends because one of them recommended it. Afterwards, I wondered how often that person got out. The whole experience was awful. I wouldn't go back there if this was the last restaurant on earth. YUK!!!! Don't waste your money!!
Pro-Pollution Tea Party Winery -- Two Thumbs Down – This Winery hosts Tea Party events and its owners think pollution is a good thing. Vote with your dollars and don't support this establishment.
this place is across from a landfill – I had a horrible experience at this place and was unfortunate enough to dine here two days in a row. Day two was much worse than the first.
The occasion was a friend's wedding. The rehearsal dinner and reception were held at Vinoklet, a winery with a grill-your-own-food dinner menu.
Choose from a NY Strip, fish of the day, or chicken. Unimpressive side dishes are presented on a buffet.
On the night of the rehearsal the owner told us how long to cook the steaks for medium rare, medium, and "if you want to ruin your steak by cooking it above medium, cook it x minutes per side." That was kind of rude but I happen to agree with her that above medium is ruined. I cooked my steak to my liking and it was fine, but I'd much rather have my food cooked for me while I enjoy conversation with friends.
On the wedding day our reception menu was the same as the night before. I had another NY Strip steak, but this time it was cooked by the staff. They cooked the hell out of these steaks in advance and then kept them warm in buffet trays above sterno candles. It was above well done and completely inedible. A dog would have turned down this steak.
On to the wine.. it is horrible. Disgusting.... and I have a theory as to why. The winery is across the street from a LANDFILL! Look at the satellite view and see for yourself. goo.gl/WrqwH
Who wants to drink wine from grapes grown across the street from a landfill?
Horrible – I recently dined at Vinoklet and was completely disappointed. When our party was seated we waited and waited for our server to come to our table and explain how the evening would go. Good thing we didn't wait, or we would have been there all night. We were directed to the hostess to go to the wine tasting. I really don't think there was a good variety of wine. I like Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The closest they had to a dry white wine was disgusting. Three of the six wines were sweet, two reds and one white. I was not impressed. The woman who gave us the wine tasting never asked if we wanted the pour or how we liked it, I gave most of my drinks to my boyfriend to take like a shooter because I thought they were so bad. I would have rather dumped them out than make him drink it to be polite. After paying, we were directed to get our own soup and salad. There was only one option of soup, a cold vegetable. The salad also comes with limited options, only tomatoes or cheese to top it and only three dressings. Grilling my own food was a disaster. I followed the directions, leaving my chicken on for eight minutes. Checking it after about five I was extremely upset to see that it was completely burnt. It would have been helpful if someone could have guided us through the process, making sure we knew what we were doing. Moving right along to the dinner sides. There was corn, redskin mashed potatoes and green beans. The corn was tasty, but after two bites it was cold on my plate. In any other restaurant you could ask the server to reheat or replace it, but not in this situation. Overall the chicken was flavorful, albeit burnt. The corn was cold and the mashed potatoes were subpar. For dessert I picked out the lemon meringue pie, only to be disappointed again discovering that it was coconut cream pie. I would sincerely never go back to Vinoklet, I have told friends to not go there, and I would be skeptical to visit any winery again because of this experience.
Hands down the worst dinning experience of my life! – Easily the worst dinning experience of my life. While the wine is decent, that is where the good parts end. I went for Valentines Day and spent the entire time in disbelief of what was occurring. After being seated and completely lost for 15 minutes about what to do, eventually we were told to wait in the line that stretched across the restaurant to order and pay for our meal. Sounded a little strange but I thought, "hey maybe it will be fun to stand in line for 45 min. during dinner on Valentines day". So after I paid (and tipped) I began to realize the genius of the situation. They get you to pay and tip before you realize that there is absolutely no service to tip for: no one clears your table, no one asks if you need anything (I had to go behind the bar myself to get a new wine glass), you cook your own entree, it is really a brilliant scam.
The side items on the buffet were beyond sub-standard, esp. for a place charging $70 per couple. I would have much preferred the buffet line at any local high school. The grill was also a disaster: unbelievably smoky, hot, and little to no lighting to cook by. After all of this, to add insult to injury, when you get your dessert out of the refrigerator it is on a styrofom plate. I think I am a very down to earth, easy-going person but when I pay $70 for dinner I at least expect a real plate.
All-in-all I would gladly pay Vinoklet winery to never have to eat there again. I would rather go hungry.
Best kept secret in Cincinnati – I have gone to this place several times. We love it. You first get to sample the wine that is made right on the premises. Once you select your wine and choose the meat you want for your meal. You grill it yourself. After you finish your meal you can take your wine outside and walk around the vineyard. They have bomfires in the evening. I recomend trying to time your dinner before the sunset because it is a awsome to watch the sunset past the vineyard with a glass of wine. Everytime we have out of town guests we take them to this place. It's really impressive. The cost is reasonible considering you get a bottle of wine, your choice of meat, sides and dessert. GO THERE!
Editorial Review – A trip to pastoral wine country, just outside the 275 loop. Dinners include a buffet of side dishes, half a bottle of wine and a grill-your-own entree.
