My daughter's wedding cake and groom's cake was 3.5 hours late for reception. The grooms cake feel apart. Wedding cake wasn't what we ordered. Owner failed to return phone calls. Drove 60 miles to meet with her. She blew us off. Offered refund of delivery fee. Don't risk an important event. Rude and poor service.
Nasty – I know an ex employee. They said this place is nasty. Never eat anything that comes out of here. They drop things on the floor and pick them up and use them anyway.
Well, at least the cake didnt taste like crap... – but the service was certainly lacking. My daughter in law is EXTREMELY responsible and attentive to details. She selected, ordered and paid for the wedding cake, which was to be picked up on Friday, Oct. 21 between noon and 1pm. As part of my "honey do" list, I was to call and confirm the pick up date and time, which I did on Monday, Oct. 17 (AND I had it repeated back to me). On Friday,the date the cake was SUPPOSED to be ready, my daughter (yes, it IS official now) went with her maid of honor to pick up the cake - which is about an hour and a half drive from Lawton- AND THEY TOLD HER IT WASN'T READY!!! Thank God the maid of honor has an amazing mom who was willing to drive BACK to Norman ON THE DAY OF THE WEDDING to collect the cake, return it to the reception hall and set it up for us. On top of everything else, AFTER confirming the pick up time, they acted like we were the ones who made the error. The cake was so-so...not much was eaten, so I guess it wasn't awesome. On a lighter note, it was very pretty and my dog LOVED it. Bottom line...if you are ordering a cake for a special occassion, take your business elsewhere so that you can be treated like your occassion is truly special.
Professional, friendly ...and yummy!!! – I purchased a cake for my boyfriend in January and I was blown away! I didnt really know what I wanted so Natalie and the designers got together and came up with an amazing concept for a cake! I could not believe how great it turned out, and tasted so amazing. I have been going back ever since for their delish cupcakes. I know I have turned at least 3 of my friends into customers for life as well. Try them, you wont be dissapointed!
Dont Waste Your Time – I was a walk in customer just to pick up cupcakes for my son. I had to ask for assistance as no one greeted us or asked if we needed anything. I asked a few questions about not only the cupcakes but the cakes as well and got short one word answers. We bought six cupcakes and didnt even finish two of them. They were not good at all, enough that my 7 year old son wouldnt eat them either.
I then recently went to a baby shower where the cake was purchased from Sugar. The host explained how it was not what she wanted either. I decided to give it another try though and had a slice. It was Im thinking strawberry cake, but Im not sure. Once again it was not good. It was a split layer but the filling of buttercream was pretty nonexistent. The fondant was WAY too thick and once again I couldnt finish it. I will never buy or attempt to eat from here again.
Horrible Service – We orderd a cake for my daughter's "Sweet 16" birthday party. We were told that they would be at the shop that Sunday from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. for pick-ups. We arrived at approximately 1:15 p.m. and they were not there and a sign was on the door that said they would not return until Monday. We had to go to Sam's and purchase a substitute cake. After the party was over we received a call saying they were back at the shop and that we could come get the cake. When we received the cake after the party, it did not have any of the writing that we had ordered on it. When we contacted them to complain we were told that they would have the owner call us back but they were not sure when she sould be in next. Four days later we received a call from Christi who told us that there was nothing that they could do because they had the cake ready on time and they did not show that any writing was supposed to be on the cake. This was not true. She was rude about it and had no concern about making sure that we were a satisfied customer. We had purchased another cake from there previously, but will never do business there again and do not recommend that anyone else to either. And i might add that the cake from Sam's tasted just as good or even better than the cake from Sugars ($118 vs. $30).
Bad Cakes, Worse Customer Service – I ordered an Alice In Wonderland cake from there and got a sorry, bumpy mess.
To be clear, the design of the cake, including the diamonds, was their idea. I only told them Red Queen/Alice In Wonderland and let them tell me what they could do.
Natalie, who answered my initial e-mail and quoted me the pricing, suggested the design, which was 'black diamond shaped pieces of fondant all around the sides and a large heart that would be the size of the top of the cake with a gold crown made out of modeling chocolate' with initials or a number on.
I told them to put 16 on there and asked them to put a red rose on there to incorporate 'painting the roses red' as well. They told me it would be extra, and I said that was fine and paid for the cake.
The day I picked up the cake, Natalie was not there. The design of the diamonds was uneven and looked horrible. One side of the cake was very visibly bumpy, and the red wasn't red - it was a purple-y color. Anyone who knows anything about the Red Queen knows that it was RED, so I think they mixed the color badly and then didn't care enough to redo it when it came out too dark.
I e-mailed to let them know that I was unhappy with the cake, and that maybe the owner could check the cakes before they left the store in the future. I did not ask for my money back, or even mention the cost of the cake. I included a picture so that they could see exactly what I was talking about.
A woman named Christie e-mailed back and said that the design was uneven and messed up on purpose and that I must want my money back. She said that 'my petty complaint would not get me any money back'. Again, I hadn't even mentioned money!
So I would steer clear of this bakery. You may not get what you paid for, and God forbid that you let them know what you were unhappy with. You will be insulted like I was.
