We took my dad jack Russell terrier who seemed to be having some kind of blockage inside. The vet said yes in X-ray we see something and feel something but believe this perscription will cause it to pass. After several days we took him back and they said oh he's dehydrated so they gave him iv fluids and said he should be ok with meds. A few days later our little guy began to throw up bowel. We took him to a new vet who did an X-ray and took him in to surgery to remove a whole pecan lodged in his intestine. Unfortunately the little guy was too weak and died after the surgery. Dog bird and cat clinic refuses to refund any money and were very rude and hateful and also refused to give us any of the medical records even tho they have been fully payed so now we will go to small claims and let someone bigger than them deal with the matter. RUDE people!!!!
I've been taking my Pom here for about two years, and they've always been great. Early this year, she began vomiting and having diarrhea one per month, and they couldn't figure out what was causing it. I even took her to another well reputed after hours vet clinic when Southside was closed, and they didn't know, either. Both clinics just told me she had a 'sensitive tummy'. Turns out, it was a new flea, tick, and mosquito medicine I'd switched her to. Once I took her off of that and put her back on her old one, she's been fine ever since. My point is, though, that while she was sick, they gave her excellent care. They were compassionate to me, and they never charged me for re-checks when I had to take her back in multiple times for the same problem. They only charged me for the medicines they had to give her, and they did everything they could; they gave her pain meds, fluids, gastrointestinal meds, changed her diet, ran blood tests, everything they could think of. The reaction my dog had to the flea and tick medicine was rare, so I don't hold it against them that they didn't think that was the cause. I'll keep taking her there, because they don't overcharge, and they've always given her good care.
I've taken my pets here for many many years with no problems. Recently, my 18 year old dog, Snuggles, died just as we were pulling into the parking lot. The assistant came out to our van and reassurred us that Snuggles had indeed passed away and she was very compassionate and began crying with us. I was quite touched and will continue to use this clinic.
This place wouldn't let me send a photo of a dog I found (their tag). I wouldn't take my dogs there if you paid me.
Worst place in OKC – Worst place ever!
They were good with my dog Kane, but my female pitbull Nala was another story. When I had her spayed they left stitches inside of her belly that do not dissolve. She was oozing for a month while they kept giving me antibiotics for an infection that developed there thanks to those stitches( they had to be removed in another surgery).
About a year later I woke up in the morning to my pitbull acting strange, confused, not recognising me, or her surroundings and breathing rapidly. I suspected she had a seizure and took her back to the clinic. The female "doctor" looked at my dog and had the nerve to accuse me that my dog does not look like she had a seizure, but looks like she is high on drugs and asked if I or my room-mate keep drugs like cocaine at our house. Unbelievable, I know, but they kept my dog for few hours for observation and then released her with no improvements. That night my dog died during massive epileptic seizure, I never had the time to take her back to the hospital. I am trying to remember the name of this woman. I will add it as soon as I do.
Best Clinic in Oklahoma City! – Best Animal Clinic in Oklahoma City!!! I've been taking my pets to this clinic for over ten years. I even drive over 20 miles just to take my pets to this clinic! All the staff I've dealt with (with the exception of a few) have been very kind, compassionate & caring. Dr. Harlan knows his stuff, & even after all the years in Vet Medicine, he seems to be one of the few Vets I've ever known, that has not "calloused" with time in the profession! I love that!
Pricing @ this clinic is very very reasonable in comparison to most other clinics in town! (Do the homework)
I've had few problems at this clinic. All staff are human. You can't expect everyone to be perfect all the time. That clinic is high volume, high stress!
I've read some of the negative reviews here & am just stunned that people are so ignorant!
Interesting to note ... To the man who claims "they killed my puppy" & the one who says, "worst clinic in Okc" ... How's this for you? My aunt called me, says she's sick, (out of the blue). I took her to Integris Hospital E.R. They gave her some meds; insisted she would be fine. But, then she died in less than a week & the doctors had no explanation. What?!? Am I supposed to be mad at the hospital & the doctors because there was probably something more wrong with my aunt than was originally discovered? Am I supposed to go around telling everyone that "THEY killed my aunt"?
Get over it people!!!
It is the PRACTICE of MEDICINE... not a fine science!!!
In contrast, my dealings with a certain "northside" "24-hr - Emergency Animal Clinic" on N. MacArthur, in OKC, that will remain nameless here, is a place I will NEVER EVER take my pets!!! (& it is within 5 miles of where I live!) Talk about really rude, hateful and disrespectful??? ... NOW if you want real incompetency, & to be treated rude, then I suggest you go to THAT clinic & get charged out the wazoo to boot!
Southside Dog Cat & Bird Clinic is the Best in Oklahoma City! You're in good hands! :)
Worst Clinic in Oklahoma City – Took my dog here after my mother's dog died of "hook worms" - They said dog did not contract anything from my Mom's dog and sent him with on his way with a few vaccinations - Fast forward a month, my dog suddenly becomes sick and starts throwing up and not eating or drinking. We take him to the clinic who tells us he has "hook worms" and prescribe him some medicine to be taken daily. He was going to be fine they told us.. This was on a Friday, over the weekend he become WORSE and started vomiting brown liquid. We thought this was a reaction to the medicine and believed he would be FINE!! He died today 09/11 - He suffered... and all thanks to Southside Dog Cat & Bird ....
They Killed My Puppy – I took my puupy there today for being lethargic and no appetite, I was told that he did not have parvo but he did have hookworms they gave me antibiotics and dewormer for 150.00 bucks and assured me that he will be ok over the next 3 days but as soon as I got him home and took him out of the car my puppy died, I called them back and I was told very rude that it wasnt nothing they did to have caused my puppy (A little yorkie) to die plus the doctor was gone for the day and wont be back til friday. Now what am I suppose to do???
Best Vet in Town and very affordable – I've taken my animals here for over 20 years, I moved to piedmont a while back and still drive all the way across town just to take them here.
I've been to several other clinics over the years and really don't have a problem with any others but it just seems the farther North you go the more expensive they are. Every other Vet wants to charge 3-5 times as much and constantly try to up-sell other products and services. I've never had a problem with wait times or rude staff, sure they're busy sometimes but thats to be expected... Clinics with nobody in the waiting room are that way for a reason.
I've had years of great experiences. – This is a walk-in clinic. Not an emergency clinic. It is first-come-first serve (although a claw-trim is usualy taken right back and done by a tech). I've had four cats and two dogs spayed or neutered with absolutely no trama or drama. They are compassionate and knowlegable. I drive from Tinker AFB to SS Clinic because they have proven themselves to me, and I am INCREDIBLY picky about both service and tech ability. I've had long waits and short waits. Just depends on who comes in before you and what they require. When it is your turn, you will be afforded their undivided attention. If you do not want to wait long, come early and wait for them to open. However, to blame the clinic or the staff for waiting, as if they were doing it on purpose, is ascinine. I will continue to take me babies to SS Clinic, my Hairless Chinese Crested will be having his claws trimmed today as a matter of fact.
