If you are a bride-to-be, like me, the wedding dress shopping must be extremely important for you. So, do yourself a favor, listen to me, DO NOT go to P&P. Terrible customer service, rude and ignorant staff. Don't spoil your wedding gown shopping experience and your day, go elsewhere!
DON'T SHOP WITH PAPERS & PETALS – DO NOT SHOP AT PAPERS & PEDALS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE LIED TO AND RIPED OFF!!!!!!! She is rude and a lier.
I had a really bad experience with Georgette. When I went in there I was looking for a specific dress that was from Spain. I was told that I could get it NO PROBLEM. Not only that, it would be here at the end of April 2009 with a June 2009 wedding if I spend 300.00 dollars extra for the rush delivery. The dress was what I wanted and there was no other place around that carried the maker of the dress. I paid in full - mistake!! As soon as I paid she could care less about me. May 1, 2009 I called and she told me it would be here at the end of May 2009. Her famous words are "It's out of my control" and she makes you signe a contract stating that if things were "out of her control" she was not responsible. DON'T SIGN THE CONTRACT!!! She has you under her mercy because you paid and she can do whatever she wants as long as she says "it's out of my control". I called several times after June 1, 2009 and she lied to me about when the dress will be in. For example; she said in 10 days because it was stuck in customs, in 10 more days because now it is out of customs and it is getting shipped to the maker in New York, 5 more days because it needed to ship from New York, 5 more days because the shipment from New York is taking longer, and on and on - lie after lie.
I asked for tracking and it was not given to me via e-mail like I asked. I called daily at the end of June and finally got her to give me information (number for the maker of my dress). I called and they told me that they did not know why she was playing this game. That is what it is with her - a game. When I got my dress on June 27, 2009 I asked from my 300.00 rush charge back and she has not give it to me. She was so rude and even told me that she would not charge me 45.00 for the Fedex to get it to her shop from New York. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!
She needs to be closed down and I sent a complaint to you know who, Which I did!!!! If you have a problem I think you should do the same so she gets the picture. By the way - her business is not back by the Bureau.
They will lie about your future totals – When I initially talked to a sales person there, I even think she was the owner of the store too, she originally told me one price, which I liked and gave her my business. When I came back to pick up my dresses, I was told absolutely different price, and wouldn't you know it 4 times more than the original price. I said "wait just a minute, before you told me different price", but she was like "I couldn't have said that" Well, I am definitely not coming back there again! Lie to me once - shame on you, lie to me twice - shame on me. My advice to all the ladies - think twice before considering that store!
The WORST customer experience EVER!!! – THE worst customer experience I've ever had in my life! Rude, incompetent, staff - especially the owner... Georgette(?) - seemed annoyed by my every word. Finally, after a few minutes she seemed to have lost any interest in me as a customer and started to simply ignore me all together to the point where my fiancee asked me if I wanted him to kick her butt all over the place for being so disrespectful to me. Ladies, do yourself a favor and don't let those people ruin your mood! Stay away from that store!!!
Papers and Petals exceeded my expectaions and provided excellent service from day one – I have to say that I was at first skeptical to drive all the way from Sacramento to Burlingame just to see a dress I'd liked online when I first began my wedding dress hunt. But I have to say that it was well worth it and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.. I received excellent one on one service the moment I entered the store, and never once felt that I was taking up too much time as I tried on dress after dress after dress.
And after making the long drive to try on the dress that I thought was the dress of my dreams, Georgette (the owner) actually found one that was even more beautiful and that fit my style to a tee. And she was right-I've never felt so beautiful in my life as the day of my wedding. The dress was amazing and everyone comented that it was one of the most beautiful dresses they've ever seen. I truly felt like a princess that day, and I owe much of that to Georgette and her staff. They took great care of me during each visit as I came back for alterations, and that great customer service carried on until the day we finally walked out the door with my dress in hand on the way to my wedding destination. Great service is invaluable-especially on a day as important as your wedding day, and great service is what I received from start to finish. I would definitely recommend Papers and Petals to anyone who is currently talking on the special and important task of searching for the perfect dress in an amtmosphere where you'll be treated with respect and will be given amazing service from start to finish.
HORRIBLE PLACE HORRIBLE PEOPLE – My friend unwittingly chose Papers and Petals to get the bridesmaid dresses for her wedding. They quoted her $180 a person for the dress, which was quite a good quote condidering everywhere else she saw was about $250 and above. When everythign was said and done, each dress was about $330! They overcharged us for EVERYTHNG. Extra length charge (which is bogus considering all those bridesmaids dresses come ridiculously long as is), a hemming charge AND an alteration charge- apparently they charge seperately for that now. Also, when the maid of honor was trying on her dress, she told the woman that it was a bit too tight, and the woman wanted to take it in (make it smaller). The M.O.H. still said that the dress was already tight and that it did not need to be taken in. We got to the next fitting and the woman had taken the dress in so much that the M.O.H. could not even breath or fit a bra on underneath. Then the woman had the gaul to ask "well, is there any chance you may have gained weight since you were measured?"
Beyond the overcharging, the customer service was seriously bad. The first time i went in (with an appointment) I was ignored for about 20 minutes while they were helping a woman with a fitting. I know they were busy, but all they had to do was pop their head out and say "i'll be with you in a minute." I decided to leave and come back, and when I was walking outside I could see the women working on the fitting inside giving me death stares. When i went back the women were incredibly rude, and have been at every fitting since. I would definately not reccommend this place to anyone.
DON'T GET SUCKED IN!! – Horrible experience there!! DON'T get sucked in by initial niceties! Ordered my wedding dress 1/06 - at the time was unsure whether or not I wanted to add buttons down the back or lower the back to an angle. When I went in for 1st fitting (May?) all was well and I told them I wasn't interested in the other alterations. At the 2nd fitting, I went to pay and there was a $100 charge for ordering buttons!!! I NEVER told anyone to order $100 buttons! Owner was snotty about it. No apology - simply: "The buttons were ordered - you'll have to pay." As if they couldn't have made a mistake-it was my problem. We were in a rush so had to leave. Called back the next day and was told by the 'snotty' owner again (after arguing with me) that I had to deal with original sales assoc. When I did (the next day) she said that since there was a misunderstanding, they usually charge $125 to press the dress - she would simply not charge me to press it. I said OK. Only after I got off the phone did I realize pressing was a ridiculous charge that most salons do for free.
Didn't want to make more ruckus since they still had my dress. At same time, my cousin had ordered wedding & bridesmaid dresses through P&P (and had her own separate set of problems with them). I waited 'til my cousin got her dress & found they never charged her for pressing. THE LIARS - THEY DON'T CHARGE FOR THIS! After picking up my dress, I tried to address this lying and inconsistency and was met with a ridiculous amount of rudeness. I couldn't believe it. They refused to credit me the $100. After trying to fight it in numerous ways, I'm still out $100 and I've never even SEEN the buttons I was charged for!
UNREAL - they shouldn't be in business. Stay far, far away.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE – DO NOT go to this store. They LIE and the customer service is HORRIBLE! They told me the sample dress I ordered would take a week and it took over 6 weeks. It came in the weekend before Christmas. They expected me to go in to try it on over the holidays and threatened to send it back before I could get there. This is after they charged me $75 to bring in the dress. They told me if I didn't buy the dress from them I could apply my $75 to other items in the store. I didn't buy the dress from them, tried to apply my credit and they wouldn't let me. They said they would only credit me IF I bought the dress there, which was a completely different story. They were rude, unaccommodating, and I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to have to deal with them.
Do NOT go here! – This place is horrible. When we were selecting invitations, they said that it would be simple to get the invitations we wanted. However, when it came time to look at the proofs, it very difficult as they would only send part of the invitation each time. When we finally got the invitations, they charged an extra $80 for the proofs and never mentioned the proofs would cost this much. We asked about this extra charge and the owner was rude. After 30 minutes of arguing, the owner made-up a lie and said they charge a standard $40 fee per proof and we got 2 proofs. If that was the case, why not tell me right away not after 30 minutes??? I know they messed up when contacting the invitation printer for the proofs and passed the cost of their mistake on to us rather than admitting it. Avoid this place.
Highly Recommended – This is a wonderful shop, with a great selection of gowns and accessories. The staff was extremely patient and helpful. Phone calls were returned in a timely manner.
