The restaurant is terrible in service, ignoring you even if you wave your hand in front of the server.
Food is also expensive with just so so quality.
Great Stuff – These guys always give me great sushi, and great service, thanks!
Fantastic in every way. – There were a few problems that night, but our server apologized, explained, and made everything work.
A bit understaffed, but it never affected quality. Service speed was still acceptable. The servers do a great job of working together. Great teamwork.
The food was fantastic! The sushi chefs are all friendly guys, and funny too.
The prices are great. Plates on the track are about average prices, compared to the other popular places nearby. The menu has many options, but dont let the price scare you away. You get the right amount of food, and they use real crab in the menu rolls, not the imitation stuff they use on the track,
Wish I had the chance to taste the food – This is not a review of the supposed food that is served by this establishment. This is a review of the way I was treated last Saturday night.
I had a legitimate gift certificate, bought with airline miles, and decided to trek to the burbs with three of my friends to dine at I Love Sushi. Called on the way there, they said they had no wait. Asked if we could use our gift certificate, they said yes.
When we showed up, the place was about half full. I have worked at enough restaurants at that price point to know that four adults should equal about a $100 check with a $20 tip.
We were seated promptly, and immediately on the front page of the menu was a cheaply made paper insert that said "sorry no coupons on Friday and Saturday nights". Before we ordered, I asked again if our gift certificate would be valid. The server said "no, sorry, no coupons". So I clarified, it was not a coupon, we were not getting a discount, the establishment was not losing any money. They were still even guaranteed a full tip on top of the total price of the bill. I may have even been able to understand if there was a wait, but there was not. We ended up leaving, not because of the service, but because of the absence of it. To an establishment not willing to accommodate four adult patrons, shame on you, and shame on your business practices. It's too bad I will never go there again, and recommend that my friends do not go there, I heard your food was actually pretty good.
Go if you want poor/slow service and mediocre food – The food is ok that is why I say it is mediocre. My family will only eat there if we have some kind of coupon. As a matter of fact be careful with this place they keep changing to rules on use of coupons, thus sometimes they do not honor them. Therefore, we now show them our coupon before ordering, one time we had to leave their restaurant because they would not honor the coupon on a Friday night (the coupon did not exclude Fri/Sat). The parking is terrible, especially on Fri/Sat nights. Lastly, every time we go in we wait awhile to be seated, then even longer to get served. Why do we still go once in awhile? Because of the large discounted coupons we have found, otherwise I would never again step in to this nightmare.
Bad service, fishy fish – My girlfriend and I arrived 7:30pm on a Saturday night and were seated promptly. However, once we received our water it took 15 minutes just to place our order. I would understand if the place was packed, however it was only half full.
After placing our order it took an additional 25 minutes to get our food. I found this unacceptable considering there were only 2 of us and we only ordered a few pieces of nigiri and 2 rolls. In addition, the tuna nigiri was somewhat fishy and very small.
The combination of bad fish and terrible service was disappointing.
kindof 'not fresh' and has had a bad Gnat/fly problem – It's an ok place for BASIC sushi, I could be wrong but there is no Nihonjin's (real Japanese) folks in the entire chef or waiter crew. Just a tad under average and cheap as usual. They have no understanding of goysa (potstickers) rice or miso soup. My guess is that it is another fake copy of a real Japanese sushi bar by another Asian family. Yes Asians, we Americans can tell you apart by your terrible attemps at copying real Japanese food
What a wonderful surprise! – Living so close to I Love Sushi and driving by it often, it never occurred to my husband and I that a sushi place in Beaverton, located in a strip mall, with a hokey name for a restaurant would be worthwhile. So we would patronize other more popular sushi restaurants downtown and on "trendy-third" in Portland. But t his time we were being treated to dinner by friends and I Love Sushi was the restaurant they chose. My husband and I were so impressed by the food. The rolls I had were delicious and the nigiri my husband had was fresh and yummy. I am so excited that we now have a sushi destination in our own neighborhood! We'll be back!
Pygmalion Bellyflop – This place used to be the one place I would go for sushi in Beaverton; back when it had bare bulbs for lighting and neo-junkical decor. Hakatamon came along, and I was happy to bounce between the two places (especially for Hakatamon's soba noodle soup). Back then, at I.L.S., the twin brothers/owners held down the fort and the food was good. They have recently undergone a re-vamping that includes fresh paint, cohesive decor, new lighting, increased prices, and new cooks. Visually, the place looks much better, but the food has declined and the prices have increased. I ate there last night with my family, and unfortunately it will be our last time there :-''( . The nigiri fish portions are much smaller. The tako was sliced about 1mm thin, this is laughable given the price increase. The maguro and sake are also much smaller than before. The uni was fresh, so that was a plus. A large Sapporo is now $7.50 if I recall, which is ridiculous. The spicy seafood udon soup was not good. The soup base was very bland. It lacked any kimchi heat or flavor, and had no bonito/kombu flavor. The seafood consisted of poor quality, frozen baby octopi and scallop pieces, 3 small clams, and one piece of oyster meat. But the coup de grace of our final supper at I.L.S. were their new "special rolls". Here is an example of caveat emptor: The new "Mr. Obama" (which should actually be named the "President Obama" now) and the lobster (claw) roll, are priced at $15 & $18 apiece! (yes, I should have asked the price first). Not only are they WAY overpriced, but the quality of the lobster was hypo-sub-par. It was watery, tasteless, and mushy. We did not finish either of the not-so-special rolls. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend I.L.S., which is a shame because they used to be good. Sadly, Hakatamon is now the only sushi restaurant I have to recommend in Beaverton.
cute waitress! – There are three different waitresses working night shift. You don't want to order any foods from an old blonde woman because she is the one who gets all the negative feedbacks here. There is this one short girl(don't know what her name is); who is the youngest ,cutiest, quickest, and most friendly waitress here. Make sure order from this girl to avoid dissatisfaction of service. Everything else was just fine for me except for the rudeness of old blonde lady.
