My Favorite Resturant! – Beautiful location, gorgeous fireplace, outstanding service, & delicious food!
& their prices are very reasonable.
I never order steak anywhere, but this is the only place I do. Also their complimentary bread is incredibly yumi, soft, and warm.
Very Pleasant Experience – I gave this four stars since it was better than we expected from somewhere that surely derives much of its income from tourists. Our server did a nice job as did the others waiting the tables around us although she wasn't able to answer some of our questions about the food at first asking but she went and talked with someone and came back with adequate explanations.
The wine list is actually quite solid and the prices took me aback somewhat, they were surprisingly reasonable. I didn't expect to find a list like this in what I regard as a tourist trap.
The food was cooked well and more than fair for the price. My salad was overdressed and underseasoned but it was quite tasty. My beef was good quality and correctly cooked but the pinot sauce was seriously hot to the point it wiped out enough tastebuds by the half way stage the rest of my meal was more about ingesting calories than enjoying flavors. I do not think the Chef was around that evening and he needs to teach someone to taste things before they let them out of the kitchen.
Fair prices given the location and views. Very pleasant staff at reception desk and beyond. Most of the time we eat out at fairly high end restaurants and the fair here would only rate a 3, but given the volume they do and the broad base they sell to I think the Chef has done a nice job with the overall balance of the menu and delivery of the product.
I will return and regret not having gone in before now on our many trips up the gorge.
Great ambiance, great prime rib! – This place has been around for nearly 100 years and the building and the view are hard to beat. Great cathedral like ceilings with real wood fireplace. Glass ceiling in the "falls room" to see the falls while you dine. Prices are adequate for what you would expect. $15-$23 for dinner and lunch from $9-$15. Staff friendly and knowledgeble. Only downside is that they still use styrofoam for to go containers. This place can get quite busy on weekends and summers are chaos here, but a trip on a weekday afternoon or evening makes this a great stop. A great place a bite after a long hike or a great stop on your scenic drive.
beautiful location- friendly staff – The staff is extremely friendly and you cant beat the ambience. The food is quite good but the location is so beautiful that you can forgive them if the price seems a little higher than it should be for basics like chicken strips and fries.
Besides the obvious, wildflowers are another reason to go. – In Short
Mill about at the bottom of the falls to feel the misty splendor of the 620-foot cascade, or hike the 1.2-mile paved trail to Benson Bridge for a close-up of one of the tallest waterfalls in the country. The cliff face is layered with five different lava flows, evidence of the Cascades' volcanic past. The rock also serves as home to several species of wild flowers in the spring.
