Great Customer Service (to a non-traditional customer) – I went to Guitar Center Clackamas with the intent of buying a Sennheiser Evolution 3 wireless microphone/transmitter/reciever set. I am a documentary producer, and needed this for my current documentary, and I like to buy locally and support local businesses. While the set was not a product that they normally kept in stock, they arranged to get it shipped immediately and get it in my hands in two days... and even waived the priority shipping costs! Later, I also needed some cables, and they gave me a great price and help picking the proper ones, and treated me with a LOT of respect, in spite of the fact that I'm a near 50-year old guy - about 25 years older than most of the customers that I saw. I would go back there again and again! They are GREAT!
MIKE SUCKS!!!!! – I went to guitar center in clackamas and was going to buy a guitar. Cash in pocket, looking for a high end PRS. I am a session guitarist and am very good at what i do. I was apawled at a fellow named MIKE MORISS? What an a**! The only thing i could focus on was the fact that this guy was treating the employees like garbage, and had no clue what he was talking about when it came to gear, and he is apparantly the "sales manager"... HE SHOULD BE FIRED! On the other hand, there was a fella who was doing the repairs named "Dan". He was very helpfull and informative! In fact, the only person who could answer any of my questions. I would never let that mike guy be my salesman, but i will be back to have Dan look at my gibson sheridan.
Inept and misleading--my last resort for music gear – On my six year old's birthday, we took him to buy an electric guitar. We knew Portland Music had what we were looking for--a 3/4 size Fender Squire. But we got there and they were out. Oh no!! After calling around, we found out that Guitar Center had two of them, so we drove to Clackamas.
The guy who helped us (um, if you can call that "help") was distracted, inept and even rude. He was trying to help several customers at once and we were obviously not his highest priority. It's not like the store was super busy, and there were other sales people. Hard to say why they couldn't get us out of there quickly. We knew what we wanted. They had it. What's to take half an hour? We ended up getting a little Fender amp too because it was on sale and the warranty was great.
We were told there were five year warranties on both the guitar and the amp, and then we could buy an extended warranty for $10 that would extend it on the amp another two years.
A few days later, I was getting the paperwork and putting it where we keep our musical instrument warrantees and receipts when I realized they hadn't given us any documentation on the warranties. I called the store and spoke with our sales dude who said it was no problem, that their five year warranties were on their website and we would receive documentation in the mail within 60 days for the extended warranty. I went to their website and couldn't find the info. I called back and was told that the warranties could be found on the manufacturers website, but that the guitar warranty was only one year.
I asked to speak with the manager and got someone named Mike. He apologize profusely that their salesman made a mistake but would not offer us any remedy other than to return the guitar (which by that point our child was very attached to).
As a professional musician in Portland for 15 years, this experience is consistent with all of my experiences with Guitar Center. I would only go there as a last resort.
Very Helpful and Pro! – I have purchased most of my professional gear from Guitar Center. They have a very helpful staff and the guy’s that work there are actually musicians and they new exactly what direction to lead me to. Sound and Price Point!!!
I had the pleasure of talking to Brian Harrison who walked me threw a bunch of gear and different options. Some I had never thought of before. He was a tremendous help to me and if it wasn’t for him explaining everything to me I may have not purchased that amp that day. I would definitely recommend Guitar Center Clackamas to my friends and band mates!

customer service sux – dont expect any help if you do go . the people that work here must really be treated badly, because thay pass there bad attitude on to the customer ? if they dont like there job they should quit and find something they do like , I dont expect them to smile all the time but maybe they could acknowledge the customers in the store , and give out some info on the product ?
Guitar Karma – As a seasoned expert with a wide background in music. I grew up on the Streets of Loredo, TX hoping to be the next Johnny cash. To my dismay I went into a chemically induced Coma and woke up on the Streets of portland , OR. I became a local bar favorite over night and before long was making money hand over fist from my musical performances. I soon realized with my walmart 5 finger special guitar I wasnt gonna make the big times. So i ventured into Guitar Center in downtown Portland. The minute I arrived a sales associate was eager to kick me out, so I waved 20 grand cash in face and explained to him I was kind of a big deal here. So the sales rep " Bob" took me to his favorite guitar section in the store. I was soon happy and playing a Fender Squire. I told Bob to burn in Hell. So i searched out for a female that I could at least undress with my eyes while looking for my dream guitar. After finding Nancy and undressing her with my eyes I discovered she was also a talented musician and loved the Fender series one texas telecaster. She soon had my attention. After deciding to buy the guitar she helped me pick out a Marshall Stack. I couldnt be happier with Guitar Center, I scored a great guitar and Amp. If it wasnt for the excellent service at guitar Center I would have never gotten Nancy's phone number and purchased my dream set.

Gentar Center seems to have all the heart and nuanced character of a Walmart.
Except for leaving the store-that process brings to mind Costco, showing my receipt and having them look inside the bag. They explained that this as a helpful gesture for my protection, to assure I had all the items I paid for...I gave them assurances that I had shopped at a wide variety of stores and I had a proven track record of successfully identifying and carrying items in the little bag. My assurances fell on deaf ears.
They do have a lot of stuff and a couple of friendly employees. I hate the whole megastore deal.

Contrary to its name, it's not just about acoustic and electric guitars; it also serves the needs of keyboardists, drummers and horn players.
BAD customer servoce, BAD gear, Bad. – I find absolutley nothing about GC clackamas attractive. pushy sales people, when they are around, the gear is always thrashed, its an enormous company. what else??? crouded with tweens wanna be's and trust fund kids. Thank god for apple music!
