Always a good experience! – I have been buying cars for over 40 years. It is rare that I have ever found a dealership that got repeat business from me. Ron Tonkin is the only one that I know of. Since first doing business with them about 10 years ago, I will not go anywhere else. If I want a ford, I go there, if I want a honda, I go there, etc. The bottom line is they really care about the customer. I have had problems in the past but who doesnt. They are machines built by people so s@#$ happens. What matters is how they take care of them. At Tonkin they go out of their way to reach satisfaction, every time. That have been my experience and that is why they are the only dealership in the PDX metro area I will deal with, period. A special thanks to Brian Barnes for the great work he does there, a real ambassador of good will. Dont lose him.
2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7Ltr – I have been buying cars in the in this area for the last 20 years. After 10 years of BS with the “If you don’t come see me today I cant save you any money” Dealers, I found myself a solid NO BS dealer, Ron Tonkin Dodge. I am on my 5th vehicle from these guys and will be buying my next car/truck here.
From the minute you walk in the door you are pleasantly greeted. My salesman was really focused on what I wanted, not what they could get me into or what they wanted to sell that day.
I have always had my trucks serviced at Ron Tonkin Dodge as well and I am insured that I am receiving quality parts and service by a trained mechanic or technician. After a few times of being burned at the local 88.00 brake job or 15.00 oil changes I learned what quality service really is at Ron Tonkin.

Buying Experience – First of all I don't know if any of these people who have left reviews have actually been to the store. I have purchased 2 vehicles from Ron Tonkin Dodge since 2006. My wife purchased her vehicle through Ron Tonkin Nissan. The buying experience is top notch. I have done deals with the following employees: Jaron Watkins, and David Lee in sales. They know their product line as well as any sales person should. They both went above and beyond the call of duty to make my buying experience virtually pain free. I especially like the fact that I received phone calls 1 week or so after my buying experience to make sure i was happy. NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have also dealt with Brian Barnes (Sales MGR), and JB Lumb (Finance MGR) numerous times. They both are great to work with. The thing that I liked most about these gentlemen was that they are straight shooters. They are not going to sell me something I don't want or didn't ask for. Furthermore the Financing side was easy and fast. Which you don't find at most dealerships. What most people don't understand about this industry is they are human, they do make mistakes, and they are trying to make a living just like you and I. NOBODY IS PERFECT. I applaud the Ron Tonkin Family of Dealerships in their 5 star customer service because that is what I get every time I am there whether it be buying a new car, oil change, or maintenance. I won't take my cars anywhere else. Best service I've ever had. Look forward to buying our next cars in the near future. Thanks again guys.
Veteran, be careful – Ron Tonkin Dodge is far from the best; better yet, they are worst of the worst. Out of all these cars dealers, I have to walk into these scammers.
First time I bought the car from this dealer, it broke down on me in 3 days. Because I didn’t purchased the extended protection plan from them they didn’t want to fix it. Instead, they offer me to trade for another car. I brought my car in twice to have them look it. They told me the water broke. It’s going to cost me up to $1000 to fix the problem.
I’m thinking I didn’t want to deal with the problem, so I purchased the car from them and found out there was a shimmy on the steering wheels. I figure it was just the balancing issue. Before I purchased the cars I have them written on the agreement to fix the shimmy.
After 4 (four) try they could not fix the shimmy, so I went ahead and made a formal complaint with Oregon State Attorney General Office and Better Business Bauru, once they received the complaint from both of these offices, the general manager finally called me and try to fix problem.
I told the general manager that I refused to take my car back to their service department so he told me to go to the specialist that does their wheels/tires. I brought my car into Cascade Truck and Auto Accessories. <<<These guys are really good with what they do>>> within half an hour, they fix the problem.
I’m thinking is this the way this dealer’s treating an Iraqi and disabled veteran. They do not care about their customers; they’ll do just whatever it takes to have you purchase their car. Please really careful if you do business with this dealer. Never again I would go back to this dealer. For those of you who already purchased oil change service plan with this dealer, check everything (filter, oil etc. ) after they return your keys.
DISHONESTY/RIP OFF – Took my truck, spoke with their service advisor gave her my virbal complaint and requested that they check the injectors and a code came up, service advisor said, only if there is a code, we will check them. I took my truck with a code that I personally made research online and suggest that it was the injectors. Left the truck over night, they called and said, nothing was wrong,. cleared the codes and charged me a diagnostic fee $89.00. Problem was still there! Got a second opinion same night they told me it was my injectors and would cost me $2,500.00 to fix but no worries my truck is under warranty. Had it fixed in one day, truck is FIXED! Called Ron Tonkin Dodge, told the advisor, that my problem was fixed by another dealer and how was it they missed it. Was it because they cleared the codesor because they didn't want to to repair the truck? I will never go their again, will not recommend them, not even for an oil change!
terrible customer service – ron tonkin dodge the worst truck buying experiance i have ever had there sales staff will say and do anything to sell you a truck including strait up lie to you they do do not stand behind there trucks or warrantys they try to upsell useless warrantys as well the general manager [ brent ] is rude and does not have any customer skills whatsoever the sales manager [ ken ray ] also does not listen to his customers after telling him what we were buying a truck for he still insisted on listing our purchase as a non work use truck apparently to try and get out of doing any warranty work later down the road after being left stranded and spending over 6000 in out of pocket repairs on a dodge truck purchased from ken ray at tonkin dodge i would not reccomend them to my worst enemy to bad i gave dodge a try and did not stick to ford motor company who has allways stood behind there sales and there trucks excuse my spelling im really mad right now its no wonder the car companys need bail outs the spend all there money on useless sales staff and fancy commercials and fake 5 star awards on there walls ron tonkin dodge is anything but 5 star
Stay AWAY! – Anyways so this moron tried to pull one over on us! I was like ?listen, we?ve been dodge shopping for the past 2 weeks, I know what trucks cost, don?t tell me you think our price is unrealistic when I can just go to the dealership we just came from and prove you wrong?.
He got all defensive and told me to go sit and he?ll talk to his ?manager?. Next thing I know our price became very reasonable to them (who would have thunk it) so I asked to only deal with the manager and he was like ?oh he just went home?. Yeah, right! So we are don?t to the financing and we were gonna give cash down...but he never subtracted that from the final total which irked me. so I told him to go recalculate and he placed all Harvard smart with me telling me I was wrong. Anyone with basic addition skills could have added it up correctly. I told him where to shove his financing and we left. Next thing I know the MANAGER comes running out telling me how unfair I?m being to the sales guy wasting all this time and not getting the truck! THE NERVE!!! I just told them that they?re scammers, gave them the name of the dealership that we are gonna to buy from and turned and walked away.
We've since bought the truck for our preffered price and have been really happy that we dodged this bullet.
