No clue what all the fuss is about. – I've read raves about this place, the "giant' burgers and the specially-made buns.
I ate there - and I have no clue whatsoever as to what all the fuss was about. I was the only person there, and they still got the order wrong. The bun was hard and stale, and the burger was sub-par even compared to a Whopper from Burger King. The fries were OK but nothing to write home about.
On a personal note, the "god" sign up front on the cash register is a bit off-putting for those who aren't christians, so I would not go back for that alone - but since the food is lousy, I have other reasons not to return as well.
Best burgers in Lake Oswego – Since the day Giant opened in the early '70's, it has had the best hamburgers in the city. It was always the place for us to go in high school, and whenever we make it back to Lake Oswego. It's up there with the In & Out's of California, and the Burgerville USA's of Portland.
Heaven in a burger – My second day working in Lake Oswego, I decided to try this place and now I can't get enough of the Giant. Everything I have tried is great but my favorite burger is the blue cheese burger! Yummy! You would be crazy not to go and try it just once! You will get addicted from that moment on, I promise. :-) If you like burgers & fries you have to try this place. You will wonder why you didn't stop by earlier.
This long-time burger spot is well-worth a trip to the 'burbs. – In Short
Regular customers don't let the A-frame, burger-shack exterior deter them. Since 1980, these burgers have been attracting fans from all over. Toppings for the 1/4-pound hamburger patties include everything from peppers and avocado to nacho cheese and chili. Choices for non-burger lovers include corn dogs, fries and onion rings.
Very Good – The "Filler" and the Blue Cheese burgers are excellent. The cajun fries and shakes are great. My kid's don't like the roll-like buns on the child's burgers, and unless you get a double patty burger with the interesting toppings, you won't find their burger to be anything out of the ordinary.
Not great, not terrible – Giant burgers - well the bun is big but the 1/4 burger is your standard patty.
Taste was ok. Not the best but not the worst i have ever had - and yes contrary to other reviews, they do toast the buns... Watch them do so and check mine for good measure. Decent burger, nothing spectacular.
Fries were good. Actually liked them a lot, as I did the shake. I'd try it again for sure.
USED TO BE GOOD--18 YEARS AGO!! – The GIANT used to be a really good hamburger place--about 18 years ago. I moved from Lake EGO several years ago and decided one day earlier this year to take my family across town to "one of the best" burgers I remember. We were all very disappointed; the bun wasn't grilled, there was barely any meat, and the fries were limp--no crunch--the variety of choices is still good but that was it. STILL WAITING FOR "IN & OUT BURGER AND SONIC to come to town.
Best in Town – I've been going to this place ever since I can remember. I know the owners and So does my mom and every summer we'd go there and we'd get the best shakes and cones. This place makes GREAT food and is an excellent way to fill your stomach. I hope it never dies :)
Maybe Depends on day you go...... – Stopped by because of the high rating.... The burger patties barly filled half the bun, which was not even warmed.... Fries were OK if eated right away, but turn greasy in minutes... Shakes were thin with more milk than ice cream. The staff could have cared less if they took our order.. (ordered double burgers and got singles)
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! – We went to Giant's looking for the best burger in town and left with nothing but feeling conned. The burgers were nothing liked described by others. Our burgers tasted almost like they had freezer burn on them. They were just awful. However, on an upside, their shakes were pretty good. We will continue our search for the best burger in town.
