Too many kids screaming and running amok – We stopped by between 5-6 on a Wednesday night for a light dinner, wine, and conversation. We could barely hear over the screaming kid in the adjacent booth and two other kids running and screaming and chasing each other back and forth from one end of the floor to the other. Neither set of parents tried discipline nor had any consideration for the people around them or the servers who had to dodge the kids. We cut dinner short and left. The food an wine were good and otherwise we like the atmosphere, but we'll think twice about going back. "Kid friendly" with irresponsible parents is not for us.
A Real Gem in the West Hills! – Been going to this cozy gem in the West Hills for over five years and just love it! This little cafe is tucked away on Vista, up the hill from Washington Park. They have quite a few booths and a warm eclectic feel. The food is excellent! Their pizzas are always fresh with top-notch ingredients. My wife loves their Thai Chicken Salad, says it's the best in town! I like the pastas and the Sicilian Pizza. The service is pretty good, they are always busy so it can be a bit slow. Go early or later... you shouldn't have much problem finding a table or with the service at those times.
Pizza is A gooda Pizza is a value and in the top five. – I have been going to vista for a few years and the place get's packed on weekends and the service slows with only two servers. It's overall good with a charm that makes it a favorite on a nice or rainy day. My wife loves the Asian salad
A great hidden treasure – This place is really cool. It's hidden away up in a quiet, residential neighborhood in the west hills, and each time I go there I feel like it's a totally unique experience. The food isn't fantastic, but it is very good, and for the prices you pay the food is more than worth it. The people who work there are great as well. My girlfriend and I go there every other month, and our waitress remembers exactly what we order the previous time we went! It's this sort of attentive and friendly service that helps in our choice to return here. It's also very quaint inside, with old wooden fans attached to the ceiling, and a connecting antique store down the stairs.
I highly recommend this place if you're looking for above average food for a fair price, and an atmosphere unlike most in Portland!
Location the great but food is bad – My husband and I have here several times because it is so convenient from our house but the food is not that great. The pizza has a terrible crust and is underwhelming. The best thing we've tried is the Club sandwich.
TO-GO NO NO – We were going to order out tonight and I saw reviews for this restaurant I could not believe what I saw. Our family loves this place, my wife and I laugh because we know when it is kids choice they will pick Vista. Pizza is always good, pancetta is not what it used to be (bummer) great wine selection and they also have adult drinks now (yeah) and the pasta's are wonderful we tried the butternut squash ravioli it was sooo good.........but our kids love the service. Jen is great she makes the kids feel like they own the place she knows what they like and always has the kids food out right away which helps so much, you should really take your family out to Vista.
Best pizza and service ever. – My girlfriend and I ate at Vista Springs recently. We had pizza and salads. Boy was the pizza ever good. It was the best. The server was just super. I don't remember her name but she has dark hair and brown eyes. Seh was extra helpful. I was not sure what kind of pizza I wanted, and she was very patient with me and really went the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied. I love this place, and plan to go back often.
Take food to go to avoid the terrible service. – Vista Springs Cafe was place my mother has raved about in the past, I was excited to meet her there last night and have dinner with her.
Beginning from the moment she "sat us" (That being pointing to our booth and walking off in another direction) our server proved she has no regard for us whatsoever.
Being someone who works in the service industry, I am more than tolerant for shortcomings from a wait staff, especially when it's busy, which it wasn't extremely, but last night was just ridiculous.
Our table was sopping wet, and I ended up sitting in something on the bench, and staining my new pants. Thanks for that.
We waited for our server for almost 15! minutes before she even came to our table. And we had to ask for water after 25 minutes after being "sat." (And again, into the meal had to finally beg a passerby to refill our glasses.) In case anyone is wondering, they have a giant clock on the wall, which made it impossible to ignore how long we waited. The table side manner of our server, if you can call her that, was nothing short of rude, and abrupt.
The food was tasty, and I was sorry that everything preceding the food was so awful, as it could have been a lovely evening.
I would hope the management takes a serious look at who they are employing and makes some changes.
All in all, as someone else wrote: Take your food to go.
Good pizza, despite the service – I?ve eaten here quite a few times over the past 10 years and the pizza is always very good. However the service is usually average and at a recent visit, it was outright bad. We had almost finished our appetizer by the time we got our napkins. We had to re-request things that we had ordered and never got our waters refilled. The restaurant was busy, but not full. It was a disappointing experience as we had driven in from Hillsboro for a special occasion. Perhaps a better approach would be to take a pizza to go.
Great Pizza! – My friends and I went on my birthday, and I had been there once before when I was yonger with my family. when I was yonger I had the pizza and Italian sodas. It was such a good experience that I wanted to go back. My friends and I went recently and even though we didnt have the pizza, the experience was still fun for the most part. We went about a half an hour before they closed cause it was confusing to find it, and it took forever to get any service. My friend ordered the Vistas Baked Mac and Cheese, and even though it looked really good, it was really bland. I ordered the Blue cheese burger on the recommendation from someone from this site, and it was good, but slippery. The hamberger was slidding all over the place and was hard to contain. The bun wasnt toasted, which was alright with me, cause that was kinda new, but it was a little cold. The atmosphere was so beautiful and would be great for families and/or a bunch of highschool kids just wanting to get together. Its dark, cozy and roomy, depending on where you sit; which would be great for light conversations on first dates. Its somewhat confusing to find if your not from around that area really cause its sort of in a neighborhood with houses, not really in a populated mall area. Its hard to find a parking spot too. Good luck finding a good one! I would go back there again, but next time, ordering the pizza and italian sodas. Im telling you, thats their signature meal! Great taste! Great price!
