Best Sports Bar in town – This place is perfect! My family, friends and I have been coming to the Skybox Pub and Grill for several years now and always have a great time. The service, food and drinks are all of high quality and there always seems to be a TV on which I can watch my favorite game. The staff is exceptionally friendly. They know my name and are genuinely interested in what I've been doing. I recommend that anyone looking for a place to watch a game in a friendly atmosphere go to the Skybox. You won't be disappointed.
Where Everybody Knows Your Name – I love the Skybox Pub. You can find me here most nights, hanging out with regulars, yelling at Emory, and just generally having fun. Now that owner Dennis hooked up WiFi, I'm here even more. I also love to come here during baseball season because with 18 HD tv's it's usually pretty easy to get the Oakland A's games on. Cheers!
A Real Pub – The Skybox is a thoroughly American bar but evokes the best tradition of a "public house" in western Ireland. Mom, dad and the kids are welcome. People actually talk to each other, are friendly and exchange robust chiding about their favorite teams. If you grew up, as I did, in a city where neighbor bars are as common as Asian restaurants in Portland, you will like the Skybox. If you're interested in an upscale, trendy, contemporary sports bar you probably won't. Go there with a laid-back, patient attitude. Make it a priority to talk to somebody you've never met. Enjoy the screens and don't be afraid to ask for a game that interests you. They can usually find a screen to show it on. (But good luck if it's something like Civil War day!)
Best Reuben Sandwich in PDX Metro... hands down! Great sports viewing. – The Box has always had a great Reuben, as well as other items on the menu - The new LCD TVs are fantastic. There are enough that there isn't a bad seat in the house. No matter where you are sitting you're looking at a screen, more often, a few - The no-smoke atmosphere is a blessing for us non-smokers. For those that like to partake, there is an awning outside, along with some tables and benches. More bars should take a look at the Skybox and realize that people don't quit coming in, because a no smoking policy is enforced, if anything, it brings in more customers - A+++ for the Skybox!
Kid friendly, No smoking, Nice patrons, Nice staff, Great beer selection. – I've been going the Skybox for the past few years. I find the staff to be very friendly and attentive. The beer selection is great and it seems that the Red Sox win everytime I go! I don't smell like an ashtray when I leave and I enjoy seeing a place that's kid friendly. They've got 18 sets so you're gonna get your game on at least one of them if not two or three... I bet you could get the Muppets on Ice on a set if you asked nicely.
new and improved Skybox – BuffetCertified is right on. We hadn't been at the SB for a while and were pleasantly surprised at the changes. The TVs are plentiful and the waitstaff is much more cheerful and professional than in the past. I liked the healthy menu choices; warmed chicken breast on my Caesar salad showed nice attention to detail. Even for the less than rabid sports fan this is a great little spot to enjoy a beer and a bite.
Nice Neighborhood Sports Bar – -Giant HD televisions everywhere (there have to be at least 15) and the staffi will gladly search for the most obscure of games.
-Excellent beer selection with interesting rotating taps.
-Nice range of menu items: fried oysters to Monte Cristo. Breakfast is also very good (particularly the French Toast)
-Friendly patrons and staff
-Outstanding March Madness viewing spot.
-Throwback video game doesn't hurt either.
-Solid sports pub.
Good luck getting a drink. – I've been to the Skybox many a times, usually out of necessity. It has character, outside seating, and is relatively bright for a sports bar. However, the service is usually pretty bad. The waitress, who appears to the the owners wife, does not seem real interested in serving the patrons or being polite for that matter. If you go, plan on going up to the bar for every drink and your food. The Cheeful Tortoise has moderately better service and much better food. If you go to the Skybox be prepared to walk out if you haven't been served within 15 minutes.
No smoke, good TV coverage – Kind of an old school sports bar that has somewhat updated to accomidate patrons. Not packed, a bunch of different games on and no smoke which is real nice.
The food is greasy pub food. Nothing spectacular but the burgers are pretty decent. Usually just the bartender and one cook - who under the circumstances serve you pretty quickly. Clean taps so the beer is good, fine selection too.
Good local spot or place to get off the beaten path (and take over the place if you had 8 friends with you).
Owner is a nice guy, always friendly and happy to have your business.
Smoke free sports – Pretty good overall... Nothing too special though. Kinda turned off the past few visits due to grumpy waitstaff.
