! Den of Antiquity--and its owners--have retired ! – After 35 years in business, the owners of Den of Antiquity retired. It was a great run and we thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity we had to make our living doing exactly what we loved most in this world--buying antiques from wonderful people and selling antiques to equally wonderful people.
In September, 2007, we had a gigantic retirement sale and sold the building which held our antiques shop.
We cannot review our shop since it is no more so we are reviewing our life's work. It was great! 5 STARS all the way! Many thanks to those who passed through our shop and who shared our passion for that old stuff!
We seem to be unable to get anyone to remove our name and address from the various internet sites so we are doing what is second best--letting our customers know that we are now retired! And, we are advising potential shoppers we hope they will enjoy continuint collecting!
We are finished here! Many thanks for the wonderful memories!
Seek out a friendlier spot in Sellwood.... – We visited this store on July 8th.
Not being antique experts, we asked about the nature of a particular item and if it was possible to find this item in better condition at an Antique Expo. We were very friendly.
The clerk (owner?) was very rude, and verbally confronted us as we were leaving.
He wanted to know why we would ask about buying something from his competition. (The expo is a show with over 1000 dealers).
He had nothing to sell us and blamed that on us.
There are many other friendly businesses in the Sellwood District.
Suggest you avoid this one.
A fabulous selection of old-time medicinal products. – In Short
Inventory here includes rows of little pastel-colored boxes of medicines dating back to the 1930s. Some of the pills are downright curious, including a small container of "Smith's Bile Beans." There are also antique bedpans, grinding bowls and mortars, and a wide variety of antique beakers. This is a great place for doctors or pharmacists, or anyone interested in antiquities. Other items include antique lace, doilies, teacup-and-saucer sets, books, china, linens and furniture.
