Fantastic spot for Happy Hour. Their large bar area has one one of my favorite happy hours in town. $7 Sizzle, Swizzle & Swirl. Tasty Manhattans, steak skewers cooked to order, medium rare please. Spicy Ahi Tuna, yum. Lobster bites with a tangy sauce and a steak sandwich that is huge by happy hour standards! Another bonus, the happy hour goes till 7!

We have dined at many Ruth's Chris Steak Houses - dined at the Portland facility recently - stick with the steak - ordered the Lobster - it was beyond the point of return - the smell stopped me from eating........ordered broccoli well done (NOT) ....along with the $9.00 valet charge (a must in portland) plus valet tip....I stay dine somewhere else

Having been to Morton's, Ringside and now here, I think Ruth's Chris on Broadway stacks up nicely. They don't validate parking, which is a shame, but they do have reasonably priced valet service.

We went for a celebration dinner and they actually gave us some complimentary items like a champagne toast and dessert. I didn't think those things existed anymore.

I don't like the a la carte system, but the steaks are top notch. My lobster tail was rubbery, bland and disappointing, though.

Expensive but good – Ruths Chris at 850 SW Broadway in Portland, OR - the new location - has a new feature on the menu. Past practice has been to offer everything a la carte. Now, the restaurant also offers a complete dinner for a specified price. The diner gets to choose from a selection of salad, side dish and meat options, with a dessert to round out a meal. Substitutions from items elsewhere on the menu are accommodated at additional cost. The full dinner comes in two price options, forty dollars and fifty dollars, with the difference being in the list of meat selections.

I ordered the fifty dollar dinner and had gazpacho soup garnished with crab, sauteed mushrooms, ribeye steak, and had creme brulee for dessert at a few dollars extra charge. My companion ordered a forty dollar dinner and had a generous piece of salmon topped with hollandaise sauce, in addition to his salad and potatoes.

I do not remember all of the menu options available for these dinners. We agreed that the food was very good.

I made some notes on prices for a few of the a la carte items: filet, forty; ribeye, forty-three; New York Strip, forty-four; T-bone, forty-eight; porterhouse, 86. Broccoli dish, nine, asperagus nine-fifty. Potatoes eight-fifty.

Why just three stars? I do not quite know, but there just seemed something lacking for such a pricy meal.

Horrible food and service! 3x a loser – Go to the Benson or Ringside instead.

I dont know who is running the place but I had more fun watching these clowns try to cook a steak than watching the president spend tax payers money.

First, it was a special night; our anniversary. We sit then the waiter comes and calls be some other name and told me I was sitting in someone's table. I beg to defer? You talking to me? Meanwhile, we wait.. wait... still waiting.. no water or bread. I guess there was a shortage of bread and water because you had to ask.

two, then comes the steak. We asked for medium well. Both come out dripping with blood like they just hacked a cow in the back! Three, We send it back.. The steak comes back.. This time its burnt on the edges, cut it open and its still bloody! YOU OUT! We send it back. Comes back again. Still bloody and more burnt! I ask for the manager.

This guy comes out and tells me he will send it back; at this point Im about ready to eat my arm. My wife has stream coming out of her ears. He offers to give us a free side. How about I give you a free hit you upside the head!!? Then this clown gives me his card and invites me to their new locations. The only location these guys need is Home Economics Class in middle school. Our table looked like there had been a shark feeding frenzy. Horrible!

Go to Morton's instead – Ordered a ribeye medium rare and it came well done. Sent it back and then was afraid to eat it. Staff made me feel uncomfortable about sending it back, but hey for $40 I think they can cook it to the correct temperature.

Sophisticated American chain serves up corn-fed USDA prime cuts and New Orleans-style appetizers and sides. – In Short
This offshoot of a popular New Orleans hangout for politicians features decor of dark woods and comfortable booths, with a separate bar scene. Choice cuts of custom-aged beef arrive in sizzling butter on 500-degree plates. The menu also offers chicken, pork and seafood entrees along with Creole appetizers like shrimp remoulade. Family-style sides include gargantuan onion rings, creamed spinach and various styles of potatoes. Traditional homemade desserts like cheesecake and bread pudding conclude the meal.

Why when we have the Ringside? – It is evident this is a chain with restaurants in other cities. For a steakhouse try the Ringside ( a local excellent steakhouse) or the Portland's Steak and Chophouse. Unlike other great steakhouses in the city, Ruth Chris' menu items are strictly a la carte which drives up the price on an already expensive steak dinner. Wait staff are young and act immature, using words like, yeah, you guys and my bad. The $$$ is not worth what you get.

Dont' waste your money here. – My boyfriend and I decided to try Ruths Chris tonight for the first time and were sadly disappointed. I looked on citysearch and like many places there were both good and bad reviews, but we decided to go for it in good faith anyway. The waiter was nice, but the steak had gristle, the crab cake was weird and gross, and the stuffed chicken breast was just overcooked and nasty. The creamed spinich was ok, and the augratin potatoes were too cheesy in a bad way. (I love cheese so it was strange.) Another thing I found akward was when the waiter asked if we enjoyed the meal and I casually said it was "alright." A couple minutes later the manager came over to check on us, and even though it was in good intentions, the whole thing was really akward. I wasn't in the mood to tell him the truth about how I really felt about the overpriced, mediocre meal. Maybe we had too high of expectations because we enjoy Morton's Steakhouse and they are at compaible price ranges, and Morton's is WAAAAAYYYYY better.

Great anniversary meal – Our reservation was at 5:30. We got there and they had rose petals one the table. Nice touch. We felt very welcome. We had the restaurant largely to ourselves for the first half of the meal. I recommend eating early if only to avoid the noise level of the 7-8 o'clock crowd. We had:

2 glasses of 14 Hands cabernet--

--Barbecue Shrimp --

--Ceasar Salad and Gumbo--

--Petite Filet and Lobster with side of au gratin potatoes--

--Creme Brulee and Fresh fruit with cream sauce--

--Chilled Baileys--

2 glasses of Sparkling wine--

$202 all together. The meal was excellent except for the somewhat bland potatoes (other reviewers seem to corroborate this complaint). The barbecue shrimp was flavorful and just enough to whet the appetite and not fill us up. The ceasar salad was typical, nothing to rave about. The gumbo was the best I've had--just spicy enough, nice, complex flavor--I'll go back if only to have this at lunch. The filet was cooked perfectly and quite tender and was perfectly fine sitting on the plate alone. It was more than enough to satisfy. The Lobster was a hair tough, but good nonetheless. The creme brulee and fruit with cream sauce were absolutely fantastic. Simple and delicious.

Highly recommended for a special occasion and if your expectation level can handle the price. If not, enjoy a less expensive restaurant that you'll enjoy. There's nothing worse than feeling like you got ripped off. We didn't because we knew what were in for and had a wonderful meal. We'll go back annually (at least).

over rated, or maybe just over priced?! – Although I salute their abilities to serve an excellent steak, since when has $8 for plain, lukewarm, steamed brocoli been acceptable?! The Service was slightly noticable, but not a place for anyone who enjoys their water or a clear table. All and all I wouldnt go back based on one hot plate of highly over priced meat and less than tasty sides to jack up the bill.

Manhattan in Portland I do love the greenery, scenery and the people of Portland; but give me a short 5 and a half hour…
