Although it's conveniently plunked right in the middle of Broadway, this cheery wine bar seems a world away from the downtown hustle. They specialize in Oregon Pinot Noir, and there’s no red wine list—you can get 1.5-ounce tastes, glass pours, or of course, bottles, of whatever's on tap that day. I go for the bubbly myself, there’s always something fun in the cooler at the end of the bar.
Good prices and wine, but not always comfort friendly..... – The wine was good, pour was decent (but we've had better) and the prices were also okay. Atmosphere was fun because of the other customers enjoying and having fun in there... but mood was changed with all the cursing by one of the workers there..... not sure why she felt this was appropriate, maybe she thought she was being funny. But, I don't think some of the customers in there thought it was very funny. People are there to have good wine and have fun... not to hear a crude mouth. But again, they have good Oregon wine. But remember, you can find the same wines at other stores and wineries.
Best Wine Bar in Portland – Best wine bar in town hands down. Whoever thinks this is expensive does not drink wine on a regular basis. Go to any restaurant, or most other wine bars in town for that matter, and compare the quality and price level of the wines being poured to the per glass price being charged and you will see this place towers over others. Where else can you get Oregon's best producers poured by the glass ($14 glass for $40-$50 bottles of wine is cheap) or the bottle ($5 corkage over pure retail pricing-beat that!)? Aside from pouring great Pinots they have one of the best Champagne selections in the city and they will pour those as well. They play great music and have a good mix of friendly regulars and interesting (sometimes) out of towners. A true wine bar, not a restaurant with fake wine bar credentials.
Pros: Great Pinot selection for cheap, Champagnes, no pretenses
Cons: Not lots of seats and it can get busy
Sassy sisters serve good wine in a vintage nook of Morgan's Alley. – In Short
Kate and Betsy Bolling's shop is small and packed with wine, and they'll point you to a good bottle, no matter what you're after. With dozens of wines available by the glass and by the 1.5-ounce taste, this is the place to sample some of the Northwest's best. The choices "on tap" change regularly, so there's always something new to try. The long bar is a great place to sit and ponder whites and reds.
Respite – What a fantastic way to turn your wife loose shopping in downtown Portland ... while you ... well ... Party! Great wine, great cheese, great service.
wine tasting – A great place to enjoy a great glass of wine...extremely pleasant service with a good honest knowledge of wine...
