Tasty Thai on NW 21st. The service was good, the dishes were tasty, nothing fancy but overall tasty. Tables on the sidewalk are my preference, great people watching while you sip your Thai Iced Tea.

Don't believe any reviews--Try it yourself. The best Thai food in town – Beau Thai is my favorite restaurant. Being away from home (Thailand), it is a treat to come to Beau Thai. Authentic ingredients, generous portion, great menu. Try it yourself. The restuarant gets busy because of the great food/popularity. That might compromise the service, but it is sure worth it.

Terrible customer service and cold food – I had lunch with my boyfriend today at that Thai restaurant on NW 21st Avenue. We had a horrible experience when the waiter came back twice with my debit card. He stated that it did not work even if there were sufficient funds.

It is the first time that I have felt so humiliated in a public place. Also, I tried to solve the problem with a short lady, who was standing at the reception, but she was not receptive at all. She may be the owner. My boyfriend went to get some cash somewhere around the corner with the same debit card, which strangely worked.

At the beginning of our lunch, my boyfriend complained to me that the food was cold, but I told him not to pay attention to it since I wanted to enjoy our lunch.

I will never ever set foot in that restaurant again. Our experience was traumatic and not enjoyable at all! As a business owner in permanent contact with the community, I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone because of the very bad service we have experienced.

Cold food, bad service, dirty corner table.

Not Child Friendly – The food might have been good (we would not know), but the reception is not child friendly. We ended up not eating there due the unwelcome attitude towards children.

Mixed... – Beau Thai is great in several ways. First off, it's super convenient if you're in the NW. They have warm sake (!!), which is a great way to start. The woman who usually greets us at the door is sooooper friendly. The salad rolls are extraordinary. The prices are fair. The things that aren't so great are the waitress who's always surly (although we've come to appreciate her bluntness), and the CONSISTENTLY undercooked veggies. Each time we go, my boyfriend gets Pad Thai, I get a veggie dish, and I spend the evening gnawing on undercooked, tough cauliflower and broccoli. Like every time. Still, I wish them the best.

Pad Thai is only the beginning... – In our experience Beau Thai is a far from average restaurant with prompt and always polite and gratious service. The servers and staff seem to want to go the extra mile to please us.

It is also a pleasure to experiment with the extensive menu. Just remember: Hot MEANS Hot!!

We look forward to the specialties menus that seem to be offerred around many holidays.

We highly recommend Beau Thai to those we know and meet and we will continiue coming back here again and again even though we live across town.

Bad service, limited vegitarian sauces – Over-hyped. We've tried Thai restaurants in Philadelphia, Portland, and Washington DC. Beau Thai's cuisine is average, but the service leads much to be desired. On a slow Sunday night, the waitress quickly became frustrated as we tried to find 3 sauces that did not include fish or oysters. Later we were told "it's too busy" to accommodate a special request. There were only six tables occupied?!?!?!? At that point, we stopped eating, paid the check and left for Typhoon on 23rd street.

If you are in Nob Hill an in the mood for Thai, skip the attitude.

My favorite restaurant in NW Portland!! – This place is great! The food is healthy and delicious, and the owner and staff are very friendly and personable. Beau Thai is hands-down my favorite restaurant in NW neighborhood -- I eat there at least once a week! The atmosphere is comfortable and nice -- it's very tastefully decorated, but doesn't make you feel like you're out of place if you show up in jeans. It's a good low-key date place, but also nice to go solo or with friends. They're usually pretty busy, but the service is always great. This place is not to be missed, especially if you live in NW!

really good salad rolls, but I call for take out – Beau Thai has great salad rolls and Tom Yum soup, but I usually call for take out there. The portions are really big and flavorful, so I enjoy the food, but have never had very good service when I went there. Call ahead and walk over there if you live in the neighborhood, because parking is tricky.

Good neighborhood Thai Food – Fantastic salad rolls punctuated a fine meal. After sampling many of the Thai restaurants in Portland, Beau Thai is very very good. Second only to Mai Thai on 18th. Service was excellent and all food items were very good, with Salad Rolls standing out as exceptional.

Vivid Thai Transporter – Beau Thai. The name always seemed slightly too-cute, the external ambience, too quiet. But when we finally ventured in on a Saturday afternoon to fortify ourselves for a sunny Saturday night, we were wide-eyed-stunned. Visually, Beau Thai is a house of vivid colors, egg yolk yellow dominated with lots of natural warm wood. We were between rushes so had an unhurried look at the landmark, though we were seated next to one of the only other parties in the place. That seemed strange, our conversations wove through each other to an extent even though ninety-percent of the tables were unoccupied. Proper spacing in a garden and restaurant lower the pressure, as it were, though compromises must be made and even enjoyed during a peak. Anyway, that aside, the service was attentive and consistent, the food absolutely artistic. What's more important, it lived up to its voluptuous color and content in flavor and freshness and degree of doneness. The Tom Yum Seafood Soup was spicy hot with a swirl of flavors that made that slight sense of regret inevitable: It had to end at some point. Until the next visit, that is. There's something timeless about the room, it's neither new nor old, but comfortable and designed to accommodate common areas while providing semi-private dining areas for groups. Lemongrass and citrus, pepper and salt, pungency and sweetness, this richly textured cuisine never fails to deliver smart nutrition that borders on a full sensory experience. One's face is flush with the capsaicin, one's tastebuds dance, enamored with the interplay of textures, flavors and je ne sais quois. This beau will be back...
