Yucatan Pork piled I too if a corn cake, topped with cabbage & an incredible & slightly spicy sauce. Yum. The Oba Cesar salad with roasted corn & manchego makes a great starter. Great HH food & extended times.

Only Mexican style food I have yet to find in PDX. Freshly made quac at your table! Must try stuffed jalape±os. Bit pricey...

Great Latin Food – Oba features a fun, artsy, and trendy dining room. Don't expect to find any traditional cuban or caribbean dishes here but rather entrees that have been influenced by the islands and are sometimes reinventions of the original. Still, you're in for some culinary fun. We started with some creative cocktails and the very tasty arepas. We also tried the Cuban Pulled Flank Steak. It was good. The wine list is interesting and fairly priced. The service was excellent.

Atmosphere fantabulous – We have been frequent patrons for the past few years, and each and every time enjoy ourselves throughly. The service is good and the drinks are always better than I recall them being the time before.

Consistently Good Experience! – We frequent Oba and have always had a consistently good experience! Service staff is friendly and attentive. We like the Caesar Salad(the best in town), Coyotas and Burger. Their margaritas are tasty, too! Our only complaint would be the constant mariachi-type music... it's rather grating! They do have good take-out service.

Latino food rocks – All in all this place is worth eating at. I like going for happy hour which helps my savings account. If you are looking for consistency and latin food visit Oba.

Fantastic Service - stops there! – I love to eat and I love to eat out. Don't even mind paying for fantastic food experiences. First time at Obas in Portland, Oregon. I usually don't comment alot on the service, but our waiter was fabulous - polite, friendly, and knew a ton about the menu/wines, etc. I wanted to hire him for my business. But then the food came and I must say it was a disappointment. Maybe I was just unlucky that evening, but it seemed like the owner was trying to offer an interesting meal - charge a lot for it and it just didn't happen. The interesting part that is. Like I said, I don't mind paying, but the price did not match the cuisine in this case. Seems like more and more restaurants are offering a dish with aninteresting name and overpricing it to make it seem "exotic". Maybe I will try it again. Like I said, maybe just unlucky that evening.

Mmmmmmmmm! – The food is out of this world! The service is top notch, too. Worth the drive and the expense. We go whenever we get the chance. Love it!

Very Consistant – We frequent Oba and find the food always consistant that is why we are repeat customers.

The Chef is imaginative, the flavors are amazing that he is able to blend together its a feast for the eyes as well as the palate .

It is still the best restaurant in Portland in my opinion.

Original and unpredictable – The first time we went to Oba, we had a three-course meal that was pretty good-- but the service was inattentive and bordering on rude.

The second time we went was amazing. We ordered appetizers (the gazpacho was so unique and refreshing on a hot summer day) and drinks. Their main room was closed for an event, so we sat in the crowded bar. We had no trouble finding a quaint window seat; when we were asked to move to accommodate a 10-top, we did so gladly. When we were asked to move a second time, our $60+ bill (for two people) was taken care of by management! Now that's what I call good service.

Disappointing – This restaurant is hyped as one of the best in Portland, but I found it to be below average and way overpriced. The best thing that could be said about the food is that it's "interesting". However, in this case "interesting" doesn't translate into "good". Also, we felt rushed by our server during the meal. Maybe I'm just not hip enough to get this place, but I wasn't impressed.

Nice happy hour! – Sunday happy hour -- what could be better?! We'd not been to Oba before, so thought this would be a great way to sample before we commit to the pricy restaurant, especially after reading some of the reviews here. We have no complaints! The room was comfortable and pleasant; our waitress was sunny, helpful and pretty quick; the drinks were fabulous, and the food was very, very good. The caesar salad wasn't what we were expecting, but tasty; coconut shrimp delicious (ok, maybe a little heavy on the sweet sauce, but shrimp were cook perfectly); the tostada sort of dish was FABULOUS; and a deep fried something with beef was very tasty. We'll definitely go back. Tip: the people beside us had the $7 happy hour burgers, and they looked great!
