Fabulous, fresh and affordable sushi. Happy hour prices are even better. Seaweed salad with seafood combo was huge and the seafood was tender and perfectly proportioned. The double crunch roll could be a meal in and of itself. And the house sake was the perfect accompaniment. Super friendly staff who is very eager to answer all your questions.

The sushi is fresh and the atmosphere is cozy & unpretentious. Great location in the heart of NW PDX. Part of a chain of local Japanese restaurants.

Best Sushi Ever!!!!!! – I have to say, I have never been a seafood fan. My family had the hardest time trying to convince me that sushi is alright. On my first trip to Portland my sister took me to Mio Sushi in the little purple building, and I have been hooked ever since. I keep telling my boyfriend that we have to make a trip to Portland just for the sushi. For any of you first timers to Mio Sushi... I recommend the 'Sunny Special'

The best sushi in Portland! – I will go to Mio Sushi at any chance I can! I think it's the best sushi I've had in Portland. I love the location on NW 23rd and eating outside on a warm summer day just can't be beat! The Super Eel and Mio Roll are definitely my favorites!

Yummy Sushi – I work near by and love to order sushi from Mio. The prices are decent and I get good size sushi rolls. Everyone one is pretty friendly. I sometimes dine in and the experience is pretty good so far. It's a small place so I go when it's not busy or else your gonna be standing around or outside. It's nice in the summer they have a lil outdoor area.

Not that good. – Sushi rice was missing vinegar. Oyako donburi was not even that at all. I am Japanese, and I can tell the different. Not good. Koji is way better.

Best service – My boyfriend and I love going to the NW Mio Sushi for dinner. The staff is always friendly an shouts a hello to us as we walk in. We've had the same waitress several times, she is positive and warm and recommended the best seaweed salad. We also appreciate the price and quality of the sushi. We always know that we are going to walk away satisfied....Thanks Mio!

Best Sushi I've ever had!!! – I highly recommend the Sushi Pizza. Great Place to eat and exceptional fresh quality sushi. I really enjoyed the new sushi rolls in the menu, especially the vegetarian rolls. Wow, great taste with exceptional quality. Mio Sushi definately stands out from it's competitors.

Tasty sushi! – I tried a lot of sushi and Mio is pretty good. True the menu is limited and sushi can get better than this but in Portland this place is my favorite for the value. The location is great and I love to come here for lunch or after shopping on NW 23rd. Not recommended for a romantic date though.

Uninspired... – It troubles me that the one-line editorial review of Mio Sushi uses the word "Mecca." give me a break.

Mio is OK at best. a last resort venue if nothing else is open and the need for a fish fix is overwhleming. the fish is pre-cut, errs on the side of "sorta fresh" and the presentation is about as uninspired as the menu. sound a little rough? if you really really like sushi and have experienced it at it's best you know what the term "mecca" might refer to. this is not mecca. this isn't even close. though the prices are not out-of-control, it certainly isn't cheap (one dude with a healthy appetite and a love for sampling the a-la carte menu could easily drop $50-$60). My attitude is, if you're gonna do it, do it right - especially when it comes to something like sushi. Mio doesn't really do it right and until they get the message to raise the bar a little (or a lot), my advise is to look elsewhere for proper sushi.

This longtime favorite is northwest Portland's mecca for fresh and inexpensive sushi. – In Short
The continued popularity of this sushi haven is evidenced by the quick turnover of its coveted tables and the crowd huddled outside the unassuming Victorian house, rain or shine. Starters include the shrimp shumai--crisp on the outside, with a cloud-like center--or the tart cucumber salad. Chicken yakisoba can be spiced up by request and is a good match for the crunchy, sweet tempura roll. The Oregon roll--a mixture of tender crab, avocado, asparagus and salmon--is a favorite.

My favorite! – Mio Sushi is great for sushi lovers AND sushi likers. They have full menu of traditional sushi, but also many delicious items with no raw fish ingredients. Soooo, this means its a great place to take a fellow Portlander who has not yet come to fully appreciate sushi, you can break them in slowly. And if they just don't like the idea of seaweed, lots of teriyaki, katsu, and tempura as well.

Must trys: Alaska Roll, Lovejoy Roll
