Love this place – I agree with you and completely feel that "synthetique" above is being totally false and could possibly be a rival competitor. I have been going to Elegant Nails for over 10 years and the staff has ALWAYS been nothing but friendly and courteous. They do not "harangue" you for any tips, in fact any tip you give them they are most gracious for. The owner is a wonderful lady and her staff is professional and knows what they are doing. I strongly recommend coming to Elegant Nail for all your mani/pedi needs. THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!
They only charge $0.25 for the ATM fee. Your bank may charge you more, though.
Great for a normal mani & pedi. – I'm a young professional who lives in the Pearl, and I've been going here on and off (I do my own sometimes) for around 3 years, and I've always had a great experience. I wonder if the previous low review was posted by a rival business, in fact. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like 'froofy' spas, and doesn't view mani/pedis as really relaxing/a treat - more of an upkeep/necessity. I've only had plain/normal manis and pedis here (no french), so I don't have experience with acrylics, airbrushing, or french technique. This is the kind of place you're looking for if you want a fairly quick, relatively inexpensive (~$35 for a mani/pedi), low-pressure nail shop where you can be a 'regular'. My cuticles are always cleaned up nicely and gently. The bottoms of my feet are taken care of, and they've never used that 'cheese cutter' thing on me (it scares me anyway!). The paint job has always been meticulous, whether I've requested a light or dark color (dark is hard to get to look good). I always follow up with an extra top coat at home as a routine with any mani/pedi. I'm notorious for chipping, but their color stays on as well as any other place's. The brands of color are mostly OPI and China Glaze (standard). The manicurists are not chatty, but will talk with you if you want - usually I read a magazine and answer their questions about shape, color, etc. They're certainly pleasant and nice, though - I've never encountered a rude one! For pedicures, all their stations have the spa chairs that knead/massage/etc. The place seems clean, and they always clean out the pedicure stations afterwards. The only thing I don't *love* is that they are cash-only. They have an ATM on-site so you don't get stuck, but it charges a fee - though I can't remember how much (obvsly it hasn't stopped me from going there). You usually do need to reserve in advance for weekends, but could walk in on a weekday during work hours.
Rude customer service – Cut my nails too short, was snarky and insulting to me the whole time, then literally harangued me into giving her a better tip.
There are plenty of other cheap nail places in town with great customer service - just because you're only charging me $20 for a manicure doesn't give you the right to be so rude.
Small but quaint – I love NW 23rd so having another reason to spend time in the area is great. The place is rather small but they can fit more customers than I would have guessed. I do like the pedicure chair/spa. Most places I go to have a little foot bath but this is much more relaxing. The skill is great but the staff is not as friendly as they good be. Good value, not great but you are paying for the rental of the cute house off 23rd I am sure.
