Made in Portland and is seriously delicious. They make great gifts for people and there are so many choices!!
Don't bother it's not worth the money or time – The employees were annoying they wont stop bothering you ever ! They need to get girls in there with real smiles not creepy fake ones. The chocolate looks beautiful but taste plan and charge way to much. The one in down town is better than the one on 23
What a huge letdown. Amazingly overrated. Looks good but the taste doesn't match – I've sampled chocolate from all over the world so I was excited to hear about having a boutique chocolate shop so close by. After sampling a wide range of their chocolates I was left very disappointed. Moonstruck chocolate looks amazing and I have to think that many people just think of chocolate and look at the presentation and assume it must be good. Unfortunately, what really matters is the taste and Moonstruck just doesn't live up to the hype. You may not be spitting your choices back on to your plate but with each new piece I was just left thinking is that all there is? If you were to do a blind taste test did not get sucked in by the presentation you would be saying the same thing. I'll be saving my calories for chocolate that actually tastes good instead of just looks good.
This place is sic – This is one of the best chocolate shops that I know of. They might be on the spendy side but I don't care. I rarely ever east any sweets or candies so I pick them up for someone else in my household. Every time I am in Portland for business my wife asks me to drive all the way across the entire city to pick up a truffel for her. The last time I was in town I had to pick up twelve two-piece boxes for my wife's group and I didn't pick the same chocolate twice.
The coffee is great too and I myself like dark coffee with nothing added; here I will order a mocha. Guys, if you are in the dog house, go pick up a box of these and bring them home. Instantly you are a hero.
shame on you!!! – I hope their very high prices are congruent with the employee wages but I suspect they are not. There are many Oregon Chocolatiers that I prefer to support. It's important to me to avoid large corporate businesses which create an impersonal and watered down experience, and to my disappointment this is what moonstruck has become. Over time I have noticed a decline in Moonstruck's originality and individualism. It appears to me that they are cashing in on the corporate "chain" model. This has become most apparent in the last few months. The service has become generic, the employees all look the the same and seem to say the exact same thing, overly desperate to sell. You can tell the difference between employees that are happy in a structured environment vs Moonstruck employees, constantly trying to cooperate with policy's losing all tact, charm and personality. It's unfortunate that a once great Portland company has developed into what all of us are so tired of.....another chain. It seems incredibly hypocritical to make one's money from creative, artistic products and have the same people saying the same thing in the same stores that all look exactly the same worked by the same people that all look exactly the same..... The colors and patterns in all their stores are reminiscent of the coffee places we see on every corner. I'll never go back nor would I ever take a visitor there, there are too many authentic Portland based businesses that haven't sold out. Portland is about individuals being individual. Too bad...they were a cool P-town biz once, perhaps a new local chocolate company will spring up. One we can be proud of. One that actually represents Portland in it's true form. The new Moonstruck "mold" works everywhere. Great for them, no good for us!!!
Delicious Chocolate! – I have only recently tried Moonstruck Chocolate Cafe but will tell you that it is wonderful. The chocolate chai was delicious and there are so many wonderful chocolates and truffles to choose from. The wide array of drinks ensures that I will visit again soon. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, a great place to curl up with a book or have afternoon conversations with a friend. The service that I received was friendly and prompt. It is a wonderful place for any chocolate lover!
Editorial Review – Signature hot chocolate blends, including classic, spice-laced Mexican and double dark chocolate, along with truffles, lure chocolate-lovers to this NW shop.
Someone's getting rich – This is good chocolate, but no way on earth should they be charging $2 per piece! Give me a break!
I ordered two pieces. One was unremarkable, in fact, I can't even remember what flavor it was now, and it was just 4 days ago. The other was dark chocolate with hazelnuts, which was much better, but at a buck a bite, sorry, no way.
Great flavored coffee! Truffels will melt in you mouth! – Moonstruck is a great place to take your mother. It serves up about 30 different kinds of chocolate truffles that have to be the best I have ever had! And if you like your espresso drink to taste like dessert in a cup than you are in luck. They have an orange chocolate mocha that is delicious and for the non coffee/non chocolate folk, you can even get a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Overrated – The chocolates are good but they are not superb by any stretch of the imagination. They have the
same waxy coating that I associate with Godiva which people also rave about. Teuscher is much better.
Awesome chocolate! – Super chocolate: not for the faint-hearted. If you like it dark and bittersweet, this is the goods. The only downside is the spendier-than-pehaps-it-should-be prices... c'mon, this is PORTLAND, not LA!! The staff is edgy and funny, though with that apathetic, ever so slightly cooler-than-thou demeanor that seems to plague all the service industries in our charming town. Whatever: the chocolate is outstanding, and the drinks impeccable. This is THE place to stop and get your chocolate on!
