Worst Pho experience yet in Portland. Cold, bare room, indifferent service, screaming kids and a TV on loud in the back. I ordered well done flank and brisket, which looked great when it came, but was almost entirely fat, tendon, and tripe(?) with a greasy, bland broth. I asked for something else but was assured that this was "steak". Never going back.
GOOD PHO for LUNCH – This place is pretty good if you just need a refreshing bowl of pho. Their soup is perfect. The service is not all that but if you go to a vietnamase restaurant you are going to expect bad service. However the food is great. The noodles are good. Try their salad rolls. It's pretty fresh.
best Pho in Oregon – The best Pho in Portland! I have tried most of there items and they are delicious. I have also been to almost every Pho restaurant in Portland, and Pho Oregon is the very best.
Friendly and fast service, clean atmosphere. Both locations are good, but the restaurant on 82nd is the nicer.
Recommended for the beginner and advanced food lover.
Best pho in town – We have tried a number of pho places in SE and Oregon is the one. They have great broth, more vegs than anyone else and it is cheap. You are not going for the atmosphere, just great, cheap, eats! The 82nd location is also great.
Good basic Pho. – I had no such problem there. My Pho Oregon order had plenty of delicious, lean meat in it. Yes, it did have many other fatty cuts, but that IS what is involved in eating Pho at ANY authentic Pho place. I found the broth a bit less complex than at Pho Van or Got Pho, but it was hearty and very tasty. Good sides, good service. Atmosphere? Who cares, it's about the food. If a person is going to dine on Vietnamese and base their choice on atmosphere, then you are narrowing your choices down to about 3 places in the Portland metro area. I would return to Pho Oregon. Good basic fare.
Sub par – First of all, this restaurant has zero atmosphere. Flourescent lighting, the works. But that would be ok if the food were good. It isn't. I ordered pho with the leanest cuts of meat, according to the server, but I got a bowl with approximately 2 bites of edible meat, the rest was all stringy fat. The broth wasn't especially complex, and my boyfriend's curry was fine, but greasy, and he said the chicken was grizzly and fatty as well. And a bowl of pho costs the same as it does at Pho Van a couple of blocks away. Go there, quickly.
Lovely Pho – The atmosphere - a barely-renovated old burger joint suffused by fluorescent light - leaves something to be desired, but if you're looking for good, honest pho (amazing variety) and welcoming service, this is the place to go. In addition to pho, Pho Oregon has an interesting selection of Vietnamese specialties as well as drinks (durian smoothies, hmmm...). When ordering, take the word "large" seriously. Smaller bowls can be ample for those not toting big appetites.
the best PHO – Now this is the happening restaurant. They have the best pho in Oregon, well next to my mom's. This is the best place to go for cheap eats and excellent pho, other dishes are good too. Pho Hung and Pho Van are not even close to being on the same level. You've got to try it.
