Great Italian fare – The food has been very good on a number of visits, but the restaurant's popularity often means extended waits. The meatballs and the scampi have been great. But I guess I haven't mastered crafting my own pizza.
We seem to return often because the food is worth it. They seem to have a large wait staff who are very good, too.
Henry and I went to this place, because I just love Italian food. Well the food was well prepared, the service was very good and I love the environment!
YUMMY! – My mother and I just returned from an early happy hour venture, and we are very impressed! The bartenders were friendly and helpful, and the food/drinks were delicious! This was our first time at this establishment, and we decided to test them out after hearing rave reviews about their happy hour. I got a drink called "Down to earth" that was refreshing and yummy, and my mom got a martini called "the habenero passion fruit," boy did that have a kick to it! Both drinks were great, and the happy hour pizza we ordered was surprisingly very large. I can see why people come here often, we'll definitely be back to test out the rest of the menu!
Molto Bruto – Without a doubt, the worst Italian restaurant I have tried to eat at. Almalfi's has usurped a revolting strip mall dump in Newton Center that offered an gloppy rue instead of a cream sauce with a fruiti di mare. Almalfi's is salty, bready, garlic salty and expensive; though not necessarily in that order... I feared for my heart health after sampling their pizza, marinara and "stromboli." Skip it so Amalfi can better understand what a small-time, checkered table cloth ristorante italiano really looks like. I tried it ten years ago and I tried it tonight; I'll try it in ten years and let you know -- but unfortunately, I'm not optimistic about what the future portends for my feelings about Amalfi's. -JC; Jan'11
Great Family Friendly Restaurant! – My family and I are no strangers to the Fremont/Grant area, we would frequently get pizza at Amalfi's after school as kids. Since then I moved to Vancouver and haven't had much of a chance to attend my family and I's favorite restaurant, until a few nights ago. My sister recently got engaged and decided to hold her engagement party in the Amalfi's banquet room, I was excited to finally get the chance to bring my own kids in to try their famous pizza! The server was amazing, I can't quite remember her name.....but she was very kind and attentive, we had a large salad (with their famous garlic bleu cheese dressing) an antipasti platter (that was practically overflowing with veggies) five different kinds of pizza (the Mediterranean was my fav) and Carbonnarra pasta! My youngest child who is five loved the Hawaiian pizza, and the server was even thoughtful enough to bring her shirly temple in a plastic cup with a lid! When leaving I noticed the new bar, and the hostess mentioned to me that they recently won happy hour of the year, I can't wait to to find a sitter so that I can test their bar menu out for myself!
It's nice to know that even through all of these years the pizza still tastes the same, and it is still a great place to take your entire family. Thank you Amalfi's for making my sister's engagement so memorable, regardless of the distance my family and I will definitely be back!
Family Favorite – This is not "gourmet" Italian food by any means, but it has been a go to destination for my family and myself for 40 years. I love the pizza, the minstrone soup and the new cocktails!!! They've gone to great lengths to make it a very attractive restaurant rather than the old school check tablecloths with bottles of chianti hanging from the walls, which they had years ago. But I like what they've done without compromising the menu! We love Amalfis! Keep up the good work!
Amalfi's - Now That's Amore!! – Amalfi's has it all - from Pizza, to Salad, to Shrimp Scampi, and an incredible Happy Hour, to boot! This beautiful Autumn weather makes the patio a must see, and must experience! We (here in the Portland area) are so lucky to have this fun, and fabulous restaurant so close to us for our dining, and wining pleasure!
The wait staff is terrific as well. So come one, come all (just don't all come at once!), and find out what my family , and I have known for years - this place is the Bomb Diggity!!
HH @ Amalfi's – Great HH menu, Great staff....we will be back!
Want pizza? Try the Milano... – The Milano pizza is unreal! Great flavor and it's got a little kick behind it. The atmosphere of Amalfi's is awesome. I think we'll be heading there this weekend! And congrats on being named to the cover of Portland Happy Hour Guidebook.
Will NOT Be Going Back!!! – I have been a customer of Amalfis for several years. Since the remodel, I have had many great happy hour experiences in the bar. I love the shrimp scampi and the greek salad. They are inexpensive and you get great portion sizes.Generally the service is excellent, however; In the last couple months I have seen on multiple occasions one bartender in particular make herself alcoholic beverages in front of myself and other customers. After witnessing this, I noticed not only my party receiving bad service, but the people around us receiving bad service as well! This is tacky and unprofessional. I will not be spending my money at this establishment ever again.
