Welcome to A & L Sports Bar! Football season is coming! Come in today to scope our your perfect spot.
Friendly Staff, Great Drinks, Enough TV choices for Everyone – Just got done spending Superbowl Sunday at the A&L and it was great. The place was packed even in the outside area, but we still got excellent service. Bartender Brian makes a spicy bloody mary and a mouth-watering dirty martini. But my friends were more interested in all the beer choices on tap so they'll be back for more.
what a nasty bar – Let me first say that I have had alot of REALLY bad bloody marys but theirs topped the chart(really bad)!!!! I have never been treated so badly by the employees. The guys behind the bar were belitting my friend and I as if we were oblivious to their comments. I went in there a few weeks ago hoping to have a better experience and nothing was different. My beer was flat...(it was like it was opened and set on ice for a few hours.) I sent my beer back and the kid didn't want to take it. I instead got a beer on tap...wasnt flat! I am just discusted with the place. It is a very grungy bar and I didnt once see the cook(who also happened to be one of the bartenders) wash his hands before he prepared any of the food! I am in the service industry also and really disliked my experiences at this trashy, dirty bar! Dont even waiste your time folks. The Coppertown is just up the street on halsey...GO THERE INSTEAD!
AWESOME Steelers Bar! – Sunday was my first visit to the A and L and it was totally awesome, especially since I am a total Steelers fan! Everyone was friendly, the service was good (especially for being so crowded) and being able to watch the game any way I turned was incredible!
Day Or Night This Place is Just Right – Although sometimes the crowds overlap, there are distinct day and night crowds. During the day, you have regulars who come for the friendly service, PBR or special vodka drinks, Friday lunch specials (like grilled cheese & bacon sandwiches with tomato basil soup), video poker and casual chat with the bartenders. And if you want to pretend to work, you can get wi-fi at A&L if you sit closer to the West side of the bar. An alumni group from Grant seems to come most Fridays for lunch, and there is a large contingent from nearby construction and road projects who like the friendly service provided by wait staff like Meghan, Brian and Marco.
The night crew is different every night. Darts, poker, sports (hockey fans, football fans, racing fans, basketball...you name it and A&L will show it on one of their many TVs). Plus you can shoot pool, throw a few darts (at the board please and not each other), and foos ball. This is the pefect before and after place for concerts or events down at the Rose Garden because you can park in the neighborhood (yes it can be tough, but not tougher than downtown and down there you have to pay for parking), hang out to drink and eat and then hop on MAX to get to the concert.
A&L has the best burgers and fries in town, and the owners don't seem to care that they could easily get $8-9 for a the $6 burger! Tons of beer on taps, hot beer reps, a fun crowd...make this place fun no matter what time you come.
A bevy of TVs, tall taps and short bills keep sports fans coming back, even if it's not Monday night. – In Short
This high-ceilinged, expansive bar features 14 TVs (including two big screens) fully loaded with eight direct satellites, three regular satellites and cable, offering viewers a variety of game options. The crowd, made up of professionals and blue-collar types, can get rowdy with a steady diet of ESPN and 35 drafts. Most drafts run around $3. Three pool tables, pinball and foosball tables, and video games provide additional distractions.
I'm going this way – When I first walked into A&L, I was like, "sure, no pudding". Most people would leave, but I gave it a chance. Instead of thirty some flavors of pudding on tap, they have BEER. What a novel idea. Don't look for a Butterschotch beer, instead enjoy a "MacMarmimans Mellenium Mudman"; call it the "3-M", sit back, and enjoy. Also, I like hockey, but I was unable to watch it. I guess I should come back during during the season they play
Hockey Heaven – As a diehard hockey fan, this is one of the few places in town that will accomodate all sports and has the TVs and space to do so. Service is excellent & there are many many kinds of beer to please everyone. Recently updated with new furniture AND an ATM. Super comfortable... even a couch for Monday nite football! The only place in town to watch sports, especially if you are a hockey fan!
BEST DAMN SPORTS BAR – This place is for the REAL sports fan......tons of TVs, good bar grub and lots of beer to choose from. Monday Night Football here is a real event. Two tacos for a buck and lots of people cheering for their teams. I've been to most other sports bars and think this is the best.
