WOW! What an AMAZING experience! – I am surprised by any negative reviews on here, I have been a consigner for 5 years at My Girlfriend's closet and have always had success!
I get a card too but it ALWAYS has each item marked on the back and they keep GOOD records on their computer AND they send it to my email, so I am confused by the previous reviewer?
The new owner is very sweet and even though I miss the other ones, the sisters... I really like new gal too!
I hope they stay for a long time in my neighborhood, its such a nice store!
Only negative I can think of is the annoying neighbor who used to ALWAYS be in the store, thankfully she hasn't been in when I have lately... she really bugs the customers by being a pest.
Good Selling Success but Unprofessional – I have been to My Girldfriend's closet a handful of times and most of the items I've brought in have been accepted and all have sold within 3 months.
However, you're lucky if the store is open when you arrive. On four occassions I have arrived shortly after store opening (12:30) to find that the store was closed for no reason. Business hours starting at 12:30 is already late and not opening promplty is unacceptable.
I'm baffled by how anything is tracked, as all I received in exchange for my items was a business card. Fortunately my expectations were low, as I considered any monetary compensation I received to be better than receiving nothing by making a donation. I think I was paid appropriately for the items I consigned but its hard to recall after 3 months, without anything in writing, what items were actually consigned.
RUDE! gave away my stuff even though i called – I consign at many shops but never have I been treated this way before.
I brought a dress in for consignment they took it but did not give me ANY paperwork. Just their business card. This should have been a red flag. All I did was sign my name & email in their notebook.
They held my dress for 90 days & I CALLED them prior to the expiration of my consignment. they did not answer the phone and I left a detailed message about my item and that I wanted to pick it up if it had not sold. they did not return my call.
I called again a few days later and found that they had GIVEN AWAY MY DRESS!
they were very rude and had no explanation other than to say that the 90 day period had expired.
Rude Owner - the other reviewers were correct - don't shop here!
Beautiful Clothes!! – I may be wrong, but I think the previous reviewer who had the bad experience may be confusing the pdx thrift/consignment store My girlfriends Closet with an online designer clothing consignment shop of the same name. At any rate, I loved the shop and can't wait to go back. The clothes were carefully selected, great condition, and really cute. Plenty of unique, gorgeous items. also, lots of great shoes and handbags. prices were a little higher than the thrift stores I'm used to; 15$ - 30$ range rather than the 5$-15$ range. But then again, clothes were of a higher quality than most thrift shops too. Owner was very friendly and conversational. Like I said, can't wait to go back!
BEWARE!!!! The WORST customer service EVER and mis-represented and UNAUTHENTIC garments – I bought an item from this "store" online and was told that the garment was in "brand new condition". Here's what "brand new condition" means to My Girlfriend's Closet - there was a hole in the side-seam, the garment had been previously worn and there was a large black ink stain on the silk lining. The best part is this - I had taken the garment to a well known dept. store to be fitted (which is where the ink-mark was discovered by the alterations lady) because the dress didn't fit - despite the fact that I own over 10 pcs from this designer, for the first time EVER the item in my size did not fit - it was ENORMOUS. The alterations gal became skeptical after seeing the ink mark and looked at the label which was sewn erratically onto the garment in different thread than the rest so she asked for assistance from the Manager who brought in the Vendor Rep who happened to be there merchandizing the sales floor! She took one look at the garment and then the tag and said, "Honey, this is a fake!" A FAKE! THEN, when I contacted My Girlfriends Closet, they ignored my inquiry. A month later, I filed a dispute through the selling party as I did not buy directly through the store - a dispute was opened and My Girlfriends Closet proceeded to slander me, called me "insane" and a liar. I responded to My Girlfriends Closet and the insults got worse the 2nd time around. I simply resolved to close my dispute and chalk up the loss as it wasn't worth pursuing at that point. I've NEVER experienced WORST customer service in my ENTIRE life or career. I work in customer service and was a Manager in the fashion industry for 11 years. But, I would have fired my employee so fast if I ever heard them speaking to a customer the way My Girlfriends Closet spoke to me. They obviously don't care about their customers - I would think they would have more consideration, grace and tact. I would highly dissuade doing business with them - unless you condone this behavior. Horrifying.
Awesome clothes!! Best brands & very reasonable prices! – If you like consignment/thrift shopping then you have to check out My Girlfriends Closet!! Truly the best brands, they do an awesome job of picking just the best of the best. The owners are a kick too - very friendly.
