Small portions...sometimes – If you go there a lot will recognize the new employees when they start. Avoid them. They don't yet know what size the burritos should be and will ALWAYS underfill them. Your mondo will look like a mondito and your mondito will look like a small mondito. It seems like that should be one of the first things the newbies would be taught...but it's not.
Unhappy with food! This location is NOT GOOD! – I usually love Taco Del Mar food, however,
The MLK Blvd location has been on my
"not so good list" for a little while now.
I even drive out of my way to another Taco Del Mar 10 minutes away!
The food is cold, and is either dry or crusty... The service is medeocure... And the dining area has never been appealing!
Very UN-CLEAN!!! – This place was grose!
Everything was dirty, the floor, the tables, in the back where they made my food!!!
I went in the bathroom and couldn't even get myself to use it- discusting!!!
Mission-inspired burritos that inspire a loyal local following. – In Short
The wrap-ups are reminiscent of burritos from the Mission District: Everything's wrapped in huge, handmade tortillas, and spice lovers can add jalapenos or hot sauce. Dig in to a jumbo (with rice and beans, choice of chicken, beef, pork or fish, plus salsa that's made fresh daily) or a super (add sour cream, guacamole, cheese and extra napkins). Vegetarians can order a meatless version, with a choice of whole or refried beans.
microwaved? – My boyfriend and I could not eat our food we ordered. It was barely warm and tasted like it was out of a box. I would not recommend eating at this location. I have enjoyed many meals at other locations.
tacoman – This place has the best Fish Tacos in town!!! Always busy but you never wait long because the staff is so fast. This one is my favorite but I have never been disappointed at any of the other locations in Portland
This Station is a Gas – Taco del Mar is a worthwhile experience in the "boutique fast food" vein no matter where you eat, with unique and tasty offerings - some so huge you ought to bring assistance to eat them. And this location offers a setting that, like the food itself, may not be everyone's favorite dish but can compete with anyone for uniqueness. Eat in a brightly-painted converted gas station right on one of the busiest streets in town, or go alfresco and plant yourself outside under the awning that used to shelter refueling cars and now shelters diners fueling up on tacos and oh-my-God-it's-huge burritos. The traffic noise makes for dining with a din and the neighborhood is quelle industrial, but if you can get in the sprit of things, it's one of the most memorable fast-food places you're likely to find.
Tasty big ol burrito – I was starving, so i got the jumbo burrito, and boy was it tasty. I couldnt finish the whole thing, but if i coulda, i woulda. Staff was very nice, and i enjoyed people watching through the little porthole-like windows.
Fish burrito= A taste sensation! – I LOVE the super fish burritos at Taco Del Mar. I prefer the one on SE Hawthorne, but this one is a close second.
You really do need a forklift. – Few things on this earth could possibly be better than the Super Veggie Burrito (on wheat, with black beans, of course) from Taco Del Mar. Living equal distance from a Machessmo Mouse and TDM, I chose Del Mar every time. Great food, great value.
